He'll be sticking around for the campaign, but he'll likely be busy killing undead after this turn. The opportunity to be his amanuensis is gone, a scholar from Altdorf will be doing it.

So what is it that you intended to learn from Gustav, exactly? It can't be horsemanship because the whole benefit of your Shadowsteed mastery is that you don't need to spend years learning how to control and move with a horse. Did you want to learn to use an entirely new type of sword, or pistols, or what?

From what was said in the original vote:

Martial/combat training is not to be neglected, since we're going into combat. For that, since we've already got greatsword proficiency I am inclined to turn to the other major aspect of our combat abilities, mounted combat- and for that, we have an expert right here. Gustav can almost certainly teach Mathilde a ton about mounted combat and might tutor her to an increase in her Martial score as well.

'Mounted combat'. So you don't need to learn horsemanship, and he doesn't know anything about swinging a greatsword from a horse, so I don't know if you want to learn new weapons here or if this was just an attempt to stack more '+mounted combat' modifiers without actually thinking about what the numbers meant.

@DarkLight140, can you clarify this?

That's the reason why I voted for the elf and dragon. I didn't understand what Gustav was going to tutor us in.

I would say large army tactics but he's a small unit type of guy...

I went into some detail on this here. Ultimately I was thinking less about learning the mechanics of how to move and swing and more about how to think like a cavalryperson and officer when looking at mounted combat training with Gustav but there are a variety of things he is versed in and we are not which would be reasonable to learn for the upcoming campaign.

I will reveal that the roll went well, and Mathilde has been spared the addition of Moustache Cultivation (Novice) to her character sheet.
No! My secret plan, which I will now retroactively claim that I cunningly hid from the entire rest of the voting body for the last day with the pure intention of having Mathilde cultivate the perfect facial hair, failed!

Next time, dice... next time...

Just in case anyone's actively waiting: I'm about a third done with writing but something's come up, I should be able to get back to it later today but will be posting it tomorrow at the latest.

He's the kind of guy you'd trust with your life. Although not your money. Or your dignity
Or your alarm clock. Or your car.
But would you trust him to babysit?

I'd actually love to see a CKII quest run this way. The usual formula gets stale after a while. It might also help with the action bloat that plagues longer running ones.
Huh, I was just doing these for a joke. My serious plans were to imitate Boney and run an advisor's quest of my own in a different setting. How would you advise me to decide between Mirror Universe Elector Quest and Merchant Republic Advisor's Quest?
