Both the tower and ship sound like fantastic ways to add things to the arsenal.

The first step is to get people to believe something is possible.

While the first flying tower would be a proof of concept, i can see the powers that be commissioning more.

Well, as mentioned by Boney, that art of Black fire pass battle of 2520 is pretty goddamn kickass. If the Colleges don't have them yet, they might soon, even without us.

As far as the ship vs the tower, the ship sounds like something that would be better for ranging far and wide. IE: Karag Dum expedition type stuff.

Meanwhile, the flying tower seems like it would be better for moving from place to place over the long term: Plonking it down, setting up shop in a region for a few years, then packing up and moving on when the time comes.

Both have a bit of "mobile base" going on, but one far more has a focus on the "mobile" and the other far more on the "base"

I forgot about this! Wizard support for the Silver Wars that Thorgrim's persecuting sounds good.

We can trade them 7 more orbs for the promise of sending a few appropriate battle altars, since orbs are no longer irreplaceable.

(I want to trade the next Hysh one to Cython, for everything they can tell us about the Cunning Beings in Silver Ships. Or failing that, bedtime stories)

No, but you could get them to provide military support to a battle to capture it.
Oh yeah thats a thing about that promisory note of proper academic showing. By my count there is 5 (6?) potential wars. Silver Road 2, Forest of Gloom, three different Skaven Fortresses in the Vaults (each probably their own campaign) and Skavenblight(?????).

I don't think its a good idea to make a vote for 6 different promisory notes, so would just a generic one to call on in preparation for one conflict work? Dunno if im phrasing myself correctly here. Just full on we march to war once Mathilde decides, regardless of if its Forest of Gloom or Festerpike. Once, obviously.

Some banner runes can be put on fortifications, so I went to see what banner runes we could ask the dwarves to put on it and found this in Dwarfs 7e:
With this rune, our tower will be able to tower over our enemies!

But for real, I haven't found any runes that'd be useful for a flying tower unless it had defenders. If it did have defenders, there's two runes from Dwarfs 8ethat'd be relevant:
Master Rune of Groth One-Eye
Groth One-Eye first struck this rune in the time o f Kurgan Ironbeard, when the greenskins were driven from the Badlands and the Dwarfs prospered.

A standard bearing the Master Rune of Groth One-Eye confers the Stubborn special rule to the bearer's unit and all friendly Dwarf units within 12" of the bearer.

Master Rune of Stromni Redbeard
Stromni Redbeard made this rune in the days of Bael, Lord of Karak Azul. It was carved onto the battle standard of Durgin, son of Grindo, son of Grimnir.

A standard bearing the Master Rune of Stromni Redbeard confers a further + 1 bonus to the bearer's unit's combat result score, and the combat result score of all other friendly Dwarf units within 12" of the bearer.
The first one would give a morale buff to the tower's defenders and friendly units around the tower, while the second rune gives a unit vs unit melee buff to the tower's defenders and friendly units around the tower. (The Rune of Stoicism and Battle do the same things, but limited to the tower's defenders.)

Since it's unlikely our tower will ever be attacked, it won't need defenders, so won't be worth getting any runes for it.

Trying to think of a potential boon.

The Staff of Volans on long term loan?

It's one of the few direct upgrades I can think of and is valule enough that we wouldn't be able to touch it without becoming Supreme Matriarch otherwise.

That convinced me of the tower. If it's that good a tower just seems hilarious...
Mathilde casting spells with impunity from top of the tower like Saruman when he had the lullaby match with Gandalf over Caradhras while cannons fire on waaagh bellow from the windows sure is a mental image.

Since it's unlikely our tower will ever be attacked, it won't need defenders, so won't be worth getting any runes for it.
I doubt its a possibility due to how we were shown its work, but rune of Gazul sure seems to be putting in overtime on our other tower despite not being a fortification rune.

(Just, keep an open mind i guess?)

@Boney would it be possible for Johann to implant an Orb or Sorcery in his chest (a bit like Tony Stark)? Mostly asking if it's possible out of pure curiosity rather than if Johann would actually be willing to go through this

Giant Airship brings many benefits to the table:
Now, I don't necessarily want this to win. But one benefit that I would personally greatly appreciate that I have not seen mentioned is cargo space. No more having to leave loot behind as we did with the College of Necromancy.

[ ] Dragonbone.
[ ] Gold and jewels.
[ ] Proof of the 'College of Necromancy'.
[ ] Detailed trade ledgers.
[ ] Books on Necromancy and the Undead.
[ ] Books on Vampires and Dhar.
[ ] Books on Shyish and death gods.
We could have had it all.

f feel like taking a giant airship into vampire controlled Sylvania would have led to no longer having a giant airship. And definitely ruined the element of surprise.

Would a Mobile Oppression Fortress be possible?

Something similar to what some people wanted in the museum quest were they wanted a War Sphinx to carry our museum.

Implanting magical artefacts in your body to juice you up is well-precedented in Age of Sigmar with the Fyreslayers, so I don't foresee any issues with this idea.

I will say, picking up a flying tower when our main home is not far from the Badlands, has a certain message to it, considering it's explicitly patterned off the Flying Fastness.

"Yo, Fozzrick! We saw you from across the continent, and really dig your vibe."

It seems like the sort of thing that might lead to a hilarious chance encounter at some point.

I'll also say there's a bit of a count going on as far as "how many towers does Mathilde even have, anyways? at that point.

We have the Sunken Palace in Wurtbad, effectively on lease to the Hochlander and the EIC.

We have the Towers of Karag Nar.

We have an accommodation in Laurelorn for the Waystone Project headquarters, of dubious permanence and ownership.

And a flying tower would bring that to arguably three, and arguably four.

It's... interesting, numerically.
