I mean, we do have the book of summoning husband.

... You know, just keep it in mind in case we end up not marrying Anton and you want a quality choice later on.

Hmm, on one hand we have a popular lady who seems unable to settle down. On the other hand, we have an innocent boy who has a way with words.

I am pretty sure I have seen enough movies to know where this is going.
This could work...

On another note, I've run the numbers for a hypothetical paper for our snake box. While the numbers are generally very good, it's a bit of an edge case in some areas. It's Unique and Revolutionary/Shattering (most likely). It could be argued to be Familiar or Exotic as a warp being that shows up in the Empire, and it could be argued to be Precious given that Daemons don't generally get caught. We'd also be getting an easy Thorough. So it ends up at (3 + (2 or 3) + (-2 to +2) + (-1 to +1) + (-1 to 0) + (0 to 1) +1) = 2 to 11. Note that this is for the SnakeBox alone, a paper on the SnakeJuice would be another solid boost.
Remember, it isn't just a demon that is caught. It is a demon that is caught perpetually between dead and dying.

That at least an order of magnitude harder to come by.

[X] Marry them...
- [X] Wilhelmina.

I worry about Wilhelmina's idiot sons taking over the EIC, so I hope she can have some more children with Anton.

[X] Court Wizard

Court Wizard sounds great to me. We get to investigate weird magic, can get Journeymanlings to write papers on it, and still get to sneak around and stab magical threats. It also gives us a good excuse to do our research projects.

@BoneyM can we assume that, when we were letting Heinrich know that he no longer has to empty the snake juice bucket, we told him that we've just claimed the perfect spot for a shrine-casino-tavern in K8P and we could do with a priest of Ranald the Gambler?

Yes, and if/when it comes time to fill such a role he might show up himself or he might send a suitable candidate your way.

(ideally I'd have liked to have put in scenes with him and others but the update was 8k words as it was)

Panoramia to Mathilde: "Yes, Magister. Yes, Magister. Yes, Magister."
Mathilde today: "No, Lord Magister. Yes, Lord Magister. Yes, Lord Magister?"
:D
Yeah, I absolutely love the little details, and you can find them in every chapter.

Like, back when setting fire to the doomdiver wings, "these sconces weren't made to hold the full bodyweight of a wizard".
I thought we already knew this in-thread, after he cast Battle Magics?
Nah, but he knows like, literally the most difficult Chamon non-battle spell.

That's when people started suspecting it.

She's currently in the employ of Roswita's spymaster. That'd make meeting up with her a little awkward, and any successful link between her and Anton a lot awkward. Pretty significant conflict of interest.
She would be forced to resign her post, obviously. Would it truly be that improper?

Hold up. Guys.

Johann is a Magister, and therefore probably knows how to dispel. Max flat out refused to "teach" Johann how to dispel on the both IC and OOC vague grounds of "he knows what he did."

What are the odds that a) Max knew that Johann was a Magister, and b) Johann is actually Max's Master?

She seems like the only one Anton likes directly. Also, with her entire lack of knowledge of Courtly intrigue, there is less of a chance of Anton getting trampled by a domineering wife.

I always felt Mathilde felt most at home either doing research or riding her steed everywhere. Let's go scout out threats, either close or far.

So now that we have the info on what is going on in Stirland, anyone willing to write the Stirland quest of this time. Possibly a continuation of some of the previous Elector Count Omakes.

I don't think Marthilde or any Grey Wizard would want their significant other involved in what they do.
And that's fair, there's obviously some things you wouldn't want to involve your spouse in, like being the designated hatchet men. But in terms of adventurousness, about being able to talk about all the wonders and possibilities that have been afforded to them because of their non-traditional lifestyle? To put it this way, I don't think we want to share those ugly slit throats that make up so much of Mathilde's job, but sharing in the beauty and future those slit throats create? I think that would be good for her.

Like Anton's awesome, but do we ever see him witnessing the awesome scope of Barak Varr with us? Of seeing the eight peaks that we fought for? Of seeing the wonders and achievements the Dwarfs made and lost, and feeling a flicker of their urge to reclaim them? To grasp that increasingly distance feeling of accomplishment and pride at what you've made for yourselves? In a spouse, I'd want someone who understands what we've done and why we do what we do beyond an intellectual level. Anton is great, but his sort of boyish innocence is one of his biggest features and a big part of his current issue, and that doesn't beget that sort of understanding.

Curious, any detailed difference between court wizard and the other options. Court wizard seem like the most broad position to take.

It's already at a unique, and the Familiar/Exotic modifier seems to care more about origin than rarity. However, it could end up being Very Exotic and Tactically Relevant, which boosts up the top end to 13

Algard and his Towers of Screaming Death, which reliably draws in Chaos warbands who seek the forbidden tomes supposedly encased within and walk right into Imperial Army ambushes.
Man, that's hilarious.

Imagine if one could reliably draw in the invading Chaos armies into Ambushes in TWW?

Wonder where this is...or perhaps this was more likely in a different time.

It's basically the trouble shooter of the council, if there is something weird or strange you throw the Court Wizard at it to see if they can think of a solution. So I'd imagine that one of our tasks might be figuring out a good way to deal with the Warpstone at the top of troll mountain.

Yeah. Honestly, if Mathilde was prepared to settle down and "semi-retire" I'd marry Anton in a heartbeat, but at this stage in our life I don't think he's right for us.

Personally, I want Mathilde to be married to her job and avoid romance and such entanglements, but Anton seems like a catch and a great character.

Tie a rope around whichever of the young'uns you got to write these for you before someone else snatches them up."
I'm definitely leaning towards binding Maximilian to us as an assistant. A gold wizard is always useful and one who has studied under a dwarf only more so. He also seems ripe for recruiting and is going to be staying in K8P for a while. I'd love to get Panoramia as well, but she's probably spoken for. We'll have to see what we can do.

I don't see why he can't visit these magnificent places. Yeah, he is a noble and that means he has duties. However, it doesn't mean he is forever chained to a desk.

His boyish innocence would probably add greater strength on the awesomeness of the wonderous places Marthilde visited and helped allow others to experience them.
