Personally my non-negotiable bit is the Red Riders because I just love the aesthetics too much and think that it would allow for some fun interactions and moments.

Plus one thing we should consider is how useful the spell might be for your average Grey Wizard, well those capable of casting battle magic at least, especially since Rite of Way will increase the number of them working with Knights in the future. Most of them aren't as strong a melee fighter as Mathilde with her cannon sword, meaning the ability to call upon a bodyguard in the form of a Murderblender Knight would be extremely useful.
 
Is there something specific people aren't satisfied with in my Father plan that could be changed to work better for the thread? Or is it simply not wanting to do The Father this turn and/or not believing The Lady theory?

Personally I think there was too much momentum on the WEB-MAT actions, the Foundation and all that, to really allow make a Father turn viable this turn.

There's been a lot of stuff in the backburner that people for some reason have been dying to do this turn.

Honestly a multi-turn project with no time pressure is nice to have in the pocket for WEBMAT, as it means that when we have two actions we want to do with it we don't need to cast around for a third. If, as expected, it doesn't get completed this turn, the followup probably gets put off til turn 45 at best. But that's fine.

It's way way off in the distance given that the planned Naggarythe trip is going to be a multi-month set of updates in quest and in reality, but I think a WEBMAT trip to the Mordheim or Forest of Shadows Nexuses on 45 might be worthwhile. Four highly skilled combat wizards is probably enough firepower to get in and get out and find what there is to find. Seviroscope as a second WEBMAT action, then study an artefact with Max from our old backlog or from whatever we pick up in Ulthuan. Bing bang boom, WEBMAT turn!

Adding spikes, a Burning Shadows style effect, or otherwise turning that into an AoE damage spell seems like an extremely obvious non-assassination application.

i think its mostly that the thread has come to the conclusion that if we wait until the waystone is "finished" (is actually a thing) we can get concessions out of bretonnia for joining. also yeah, i want the liminal realms action because that one is just cool.

but honestly i wouldn't worry too much about the father. we will be getting bretonnia on board, almost impossible not to and the forest of shadows is also firmly in our wheelhouse. its just timing it that will decide.
 
I prefer Whispering Darkness because:

1. I like the living shadow aesthetic more than a horse-rider aesthetic.
2. A piece of our soul is already a living shadow, and I want to see what implications that has.

I want to start delivering some deliverables, and Boris' enthusiasm and Kislev's contributions and general position makes me want to start with them sooner rather than later, and I don't think you can fit that in without replacing another broadly popular action.

I guess I should have asked first, huh? @Boney is it okay for Eike to do any of these actions as a Study focus:

[ ] Write a paper:
[ ] Write something else:
[ ] Enchant an item (if/when she learns it)
[ ] Involve yourself in current affairs
[ ] Spend time assisting or ingratiating yourself with someone else: specify who and how.
[ ] Spend time investigating a character without their knowledge
+EIC Stuff

Obviously we can't do it every turn or she should just go Journeying already, but otherwise it seems win-win in terms of having something we want done and giving her practical experience; and if she struggles with any part of it we can focus our teaching on it once she returns. I understand if this isn't possible due to AP concerns or some of these things already being part of potential Magister qualification. Plus we can just give her due credit for either paper-writing or checking an artifact.

I agree that four wizards would be enough firepower and mobility to allow for a quick in and out 20 minute adventure, but mightn't the Forest of Shadows trip not benefit from Askel being present?

Not Boney, but I'd expect the Eike actions to evolve to allow some more independence once she reaches Senior Apprentice. We've barely had her for two years though, so she's not quite there yet.

With The Father, we should be able to get plenty already, so we don't need to wait plus we get more help doing the research making them in the first place.
But yeah if the thread wants to get liminal AV and kislev right this turn, theres not a way to fit it in(without also losing WEBMAT). You could get one of them by swapping Forest Nexus, but thats half the reason for doing The Father gone :/

Most of the thread (I think) wants to bring Bretonnia on by making the Project successful enough they want to join of their own volition, at which point we can require they give us stuff for it - like consultations with the Fay Enchantress - rather than us having to make it worth their while with the Iron Orcs action, etc.

That said, I'd like to do the Iron Orcs action afterwards because it's a cool action, I'd just want to negotiate some other payment for it. Copying a library, maybe.

We're well on track to get to the "impressive enough" level already, and can integrate their insights afterwards. We can do it with the Father then, too.

i think its mostly that a father turn does kinda take up most of the turn. which is fine but not when we get to other new things too. as for bretonnia being easily swayed that would depend on the lady actually being ranalds daughter which is much more up in the air then Halétha was. so for most its a bit of a gamble i suppose?
 
If I'm an outlier with more confidence in The Lady being a daughter and less confidence in being able to make a foundation and whole waystones easily, that could be why I'm prioritizing things differently.

I've not commented on the topic, 'cuz i am Exhausted Man, here to be too burnt out to argue, but I hate the whole line of reasoning as going into this with the aim of getting concessions will fully, or partially, undermine the development of closer long term diplomatic relationships with Breton-
