X] Claim the site where Ranald mugged Mork and build a shrine to Ranald there.
[X] Write a series of papers on the magical phenomena you witnessed. Or better yet, get your Journeymanlings to do the actual writing.
[X] Convince Esbern and Seija to stay long enough to hatch the supposedly Lustrian eggs and study and possibly train whatever hatches.

what is the difference between a 15 favour dwarf runic greatsword and a 20 favour one how much more powerful would it be or would it have more runes on it

10 points is the pinnacle of normal Runesmithing. 15 points is the average standard of the greatest of Runelords. 20 points is asking for some of their finest work. 25 points is them doing their utmost to deliver the very pinnacle of what is possible.

I'd have thought being involved in the Sylvania campaign would qualify as a foot in the door, at least. They are the anti-undead faction of the already pretty anti-undead dwarves, after all.

If you had actually put a Von Carstein down you'd have gotten their attention, but as far as anyone can tell the entire thing was human necromancers raising human corpses.

So we've put off scouting the other parts of K8P for the next update assuming we get another three choices is any one willing to jump on that?

@BoneyM Sorry to ask if you've already answered on this before, but do Runelords need to forge the item themselves that they're putting runes onto? Like if Maximillian made us an awesome sword, could Kragg or Thorek use that as a base for runework, or does it need to be the Runelord's work from start to finish?

What are people's thoughts on trying to get a dedicated research assistant? Besides the Liber Mortis, most of our research topics aren't exactly something we plan on hiding from the college and there is probably a fair bit that we can delegate like writing reports, or doing the examinations of snekjuice that we still haven't gotten around to.

@BoneyM what's the protocol for this? Can we just send out a general call for journeymen interested in research or something? Would any of the current jouneymanlings be interested in this?

Anti-miscast, no. A general panic button that causes all magical energies to be sucked out and grounded would be possible, though.
Would that break enchantments (human or dwarf)? As long as our belt and seed a safe, this seems worth it.
Yeah, anything that prevents us from turning into pure Ulgu like the the Hierophant turned into pure Hysh would be a good investment.
I'm not sure of forcibly grounding all magic would prevent the transformation or would just ground you.
It would need to be a literal button set up to work in a single room. Part of it is having it set up so that it can sink the magic wide enough to prevent any disasters.
Switching to the hypothetical grounding rod / anti magical mishap wand: What kind of slot would such an item take up? I'm imagining it would take the same slot as a weapon since Mathilde would essentially use it as one. (Touch it to the bad magic, hope it goes away.)
Someone mentioned Talismans, but I'd imagine those to either have a constant effect or to activate automatically, like the belt.

There's a lot of things we need to get moving on.

• We must build Ranald a shrine before the 1 year "grace period" of moving away from the hidden palace runs out. We've been explicitly told he'll be unhappy with us if we don't.

• We must head to Altdorf to pay our dues to the college. While there, we should meet with Wilhelma to let her know about the financial situation, and should pick up our various materials and bring them over.

• We need to scout the rest of K8P ASAP. The longer we leave the enemy plots going, the worse things will go for us.

Strongly against. Infosec is paramount, an while LM is realtively closely kept lidon (unless we start ot investigate it), the snekjuice isn't.

There are three research subjects we want to hide from the colleges right now.

Liber Mortis, Snek Juice and finally Ulguu Theurgy or potentially All magic theurgy via Ranald. These subjects require absolute secrecy so I don't particularly want a research assistant running aroun right now. Snek juice being quasi high magic would almost certainly get taken away.

No, they can put runes on a weapon someone else manufactured.

An expenditure of College favour could get you a Grey Order perpetual apprentice with the right interest and abilities. Failing that, you could put word out for either or both of a Journeyman assistant or a Magister collaborator and hope it catches someone's attention, or you could try the University of Altdorf and see if there's anyone with a scholarly rather than personal interest in magic that would be willing to join you.

I don't think we'd like to share any of our serious research topics. Maybe get a writer to help us hammer out our papers on a reasonable schedule, but the learning itself definitely needs to stay private, unless one likes answering uncomfortable questions, like 'This is the blood of what!?'.

Besides the Liber Mortis, how much negative scrutiny would Mathilde's other research topics draw? Like Weber's Box or our thoughts on identifying where normal magic ends and divine magic begins?

@BoneyM If we were to use our favor to get the best possible instruction from a dwarf Ranger, would we tell that ranger about "The Night Prowler"? It's a powerful ability that would allow us to better infiltrate Greenskin/Skaven settlements, but it's a Ranald ability, and we're not supposed to be talking about our worship of him openly iirc.

I know voting is closed I'm suggesting we should push for scouting K8P next update.
I think we should build the Ranald Shrine, visit our friends, and grab our things from Stirland in order to get that all out of the way in the next set of votes.

Visiting our friends should be done at the same time we grab our stuff, since we'll be in Stirland anyway. And by keeping in touch with them, they can keep us appraised of the situation in the empire if we become an outward facing spymaster for Belegar. (Which I think the thread is leaning towards the most)

Building the Ranald shrine prevents us from leaving the one year grace period we had, and makes it so that the people in Karag Nar will use it as a Tavern/Gambling Hall rather than not know it's there.

This is probably far outside the realm of acceptable expenditures of time, but I'd kinda like to send off to the college for an apprentice for some time period, for a number of reasons; more younger college-manling interaction, the possibility of juicy favours and Magister Lord advancement, and there's that old idiom that the best way to master something is to teach it to someone else.

This is a topic to discuss amongst yourselves rather than ask for a WoG answer to. Weigh the intended benefits against the possible consequences.

Works for me.

Alright, I think I've finally got this figured out: If we want to carry a Greatsword, a Wizarding Staff, and a Sniper Rifle then we need to combine two of them or it's way too impractical. Everyone's been scratching their heads on how to combine a sword with a staff, but I'd suggest instead combining the rifle and the staff. Have Mathilde get practice first making her own normal staff, then commission a sniper rifle made using Ulgu-compatible wood and give a go at enchanting that. That way we can both shoot people from far away, get a +1 magic staff, and ground miscasts all in the same item. (It might be more vulnerable to getting broken when grounding a spell, but nothing's perfect.)

Alternatively, we could try creating the first Sniper-Blade, but it might be hard to aim without getting cut on all that edge. :p
