The idea is to make a moving Mapp image of Johan's vision, we have used this spell in front of dwarves often, just not with an enchantment, not using the spells on dwarves to make statues (though I'm certain some dwarves would consider a glimpse of the Ancestors worth it.)
I will note that Johann told us he only saw a split second of the Ancestor Gods, and that may not be worth the effort: the Dwarves literally have art and stuff of them from when they still walked the earth. Art made from more than a split second's worth of time.

I will also note that MAP/P is explicitly described as being low-resolution. Illusion would be more suited to what you're suggesting, though it would of course run into the issue that we'd need to Windherd that, and our current level of skill with Windherding is basic.

On top of all the previous issues. You know, the extremely valid issues of how openly revealing this College secret could jeopardize Human-Dwarven relations, and how they will not see it as worth it.

Moreover, I think that if we wish to improve dwarves' morale, we just need to keep helping retake Holds. That, I think, would be a better expenditure of time than risking so much on this idea.

Though the logistical hurdles don't leave us with a lot of options for that (beyond making sure retaking Silverspear goes as smoothly as possible)

If we find ourselves committed to Dwarfen morale, there's always recovering lost runeworks*, or maybe trying to track down Karak Zorn.

*I'm sure Skavenblight has a fair number that were looted over the years, this would totally be a good idea!

I don't care about the Ancestor God depiction idea. In fact I have negative interest in it. I tend to skim the thread when it gets bogged down by ideas that I consider to be exceedingly impractical or unwise, so I suppose I misinterpreted @BurnNote's point, to which I apologise.

I don't think it has much support in the thread. Boney made a post that it's a dumb idea, and I made a joke based on that, but I don't there's a lot of people taking it seriously.

Doesn't take much support to get bogged down in the topic, only some stubbornness :p

But yeah, at this point we're just goofing around because we can, and because it's fun to imagine Johann fisting rocks and conjuring motivational posters inspired by tripping on magic, yanno?

Well now I'm thinking of Johan going on a tour as a motivational speaker to speak about how Grungni inspired his rockfisting.
Something something, believe in the me that believes in you. Something something, Fight the powa!

Actually, that seems more like an Ork song. So Mathilde should be singing that.

And now I want a DL/Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann fusion. Mathilde is Kamina (because she has a sword), Eike is Simon (closest thing to a little sibling), Yoko is Panoramia (Kamina's love interest), Mandred is Nia (look, I need someone, and he's the only one vaguely fitting), and that finally makes Heidi Lordgenome. Which clearly makes a lot of sense.

@Glau Did some typo/capitalization hunting.
Part 1
Ghur and ghyran Ghyran flowed around him,
He swore in khalazid Khazalid
high contrast ghur Ghur and chamon Chamon

Part 2
Aqshy in a crease over comets if hysh Hysh, against an ulgu Ulgu background.
he saw ulgu Ulgu swirl heavily around Kadoh
even the chamon Chamon of their weapons
Kadoh pointed, a swirl of hysh Hysh and aqshy Aqshy(focus, discovery, passion) spiking out from his arm (his muscles briefly backlit by the winds and clearly visible in Johann's mind) towards a somewhat more prominent streak of ghyran Ghyran.
Maybe the way there seemed to be more ghur Ghur in the palette that made up his world?
A dot of chamon Chamon
a trio of beasts- candids canids, perhaps six paces tall at the shoulder
reminded him of scarlett scarlet
Kadoh paled, the aqshy Aqshy suddenly quenched.

"We are marked! This is khainite Khainite magic."
Kadoh froze a moment, hysh Hysh popping like a bubble and aqshy Aqshy roaring back.
an almost monotone ghyran Ghyran environment.
A khainite Khainite spell on the arrow

Proper nouns should always be capitalized, and the names of languages and gods are proper nouns, as are the names of the winds (at least, they seem to be, given how they're always capitalized in the quest and source material). Should be a quick find+replace for most of these—the names of the winds, as well as 'khainite'.

Getting Johann, someone who has not only showed no inclination or passion for art, but is actively disadvantaged within that field, to create borderline heretical depictions of legendary figures from another cultures actual recorded history, and in doing so reveal a previously secret ability who's very existence endangers a two and a half milenia old alliance held to be sacred by both nations, isn't the worst idea we've ever had, but boy, is it up there.

Oooh, remind me of some of the worse ideas. Right now I can only think of sharing the BOOK.

Thanks! I'll get around to correcting things eventually.

You are seeing the consequences of typing these on my phone in the window at the bottom of the screen- autocorrect finally decided that those nouns existed, but still de-capitalizes them, and I can't actually control-H.

Candids to canids though, that one I'm annoyed to have missed.

Some ideas are better as negaverse stories rather than theory posts, is all I'm going to say. The way you phrased that just now is pretty funny, and it seems like a waste to try and be all serious and wall-of-text about why it won't work, instead of writing some cracked out snippet that we can all laugh at as it demonstrates the same thing.

Off the top of my head, and ignoring the few previously mentioned ideas:

Running around Eagle Castle in our underwear.

Picking a fight with an actual god (multiple times).

Kicking off an Orc civil war whilst disguised as an Orc.

Soloing a Vampire Lord.

Soloing a Chaos Champion.

Infiltrating Karag Dum.

Recruiting a dragon as Deputy Head Librarian.

But my personal favourite is casting Substance of Shadow on the living flesh walls of the Skaven city of Hell Pit. I'm actually a little sad we didn't get to try that one.

I was actually going for a pretty humourous tone of voice there, so I'm glad someone found it funny.

What makes any depictions created by Johann, who wasn't particularly artistic even before he was blinded, superior to and more meaningful than any of the many surviving depictions made by Dwarves who lived and worked alongside the Ancestor Gods for centuries?
As far as I know only Johan is alive and witnessed this specific event, nobody else.

I would like a windherding enchantment maybe illusion and map because Johan and his magic Remember. I think the piece of reality where the godlings walked that Johan saw remembers too.

Have him put magic that remembers the gods in a hologram of what they were doing where they were doing it on a chunk of reality that also remembers? It seems to me that if you were to ask, 'in what situation could zufokri nonsense get an image of the Ancestors as good as a dwarf longboard?' this would be a potential answer. Lots of resonances.

Maybe if he gets it close enough, the magic would find it easier to settle perfectly into what they looked like than something off.

Only Johan knows what Grimnir and Grungni's beards and Valaya's plaites looked like during this pivotal moment, and I think that's a damn shame.

Also if the breach the unknown cat was debagified, we may be able to make a way for Kragg to use it to recover dwarf stuff. It's not to useful to human secret thieves, but Kragg has spent 15 centuries doing exactly what this spell does, I imagine the possibility of dwarves using it to help recover lost dwarven stuff could cool some heads.

Worst ideas:
Trying to turn into a dwarf using elementalism and a bureaucracy trait I forgot we didn't pick and using that to get a runesmith apprenticeship.
Worst ideas I still think we should do:
Use Vlag favor to fortify goat fiyfiey.
Please team we have a duty to the goats!!!!
