Side note on the update. I've noted that Mathilde referred to the Chaos Dwarves as "Fire Dwarves". Not super indicative since that's the literal translation of Dawi Zharr, but I suppose it's notable since it's a lesser used title for them.

The inherent assumption that Hashut is a Chaos God is the sort of debate starter you learn not to throw around in academia unless you've got a bunch of time to kill.

That's understandable. Personally, I don't really care if pending questions or resolvable tensions exist within a social action. A demonstration of their relationship is its own reward. Of course, that's just my opinion, and I definitely have a bias.
Yeah. Panoramia's no dragon, but their relationship is still super cute and I like seeing it. Nice to have someone that can see past the front Mathilde usually puts up.

Boney always gets my hopes up with putting Gretel down as an option. But my decades as a Seattle Mariners fan have molded me to deal with heartbreak.

I know nothing about lore so this is probably irrelevant, but just on the off-chance everyone is distracted: are we thinking the best sales good with the Elves, is to sell them back burnt trees? Seems like that might be a bit of a faux pas? Especially because I remember something about them getting deforested by a nearby polity? So like, 'humans keep mowing down our precious forests and now they're setting them on fire and trying to sell them back to us.'

That sounds like something other than the start of positive international relations, smiths wanting fuel or no.

No, no, the idea is to sell them burnt trees from elsewhere. It's their own trees that they're concerned about, because those ones contribute to their Dhar-cleanup system.

Elves as depicted in WFRP have a very 'in-group out-group' mentality when it comes to other elves (or people in general).

If it's someone else's forest, they don't give a shit.

Elves care about nature to some extent, but mostly in a self-contained manner. Even the Asrai only ever really care about their own forest, and they're the most extreme of all the Elves in the nature preservation department.

I'm also no scientist so I can't confirm the veracity of the idea, but I heard that some measure of cultivation is actually beneficial to the overall health of forests. I'm not sure that the Empire operates on that principle, but Taal and Rhya are major gods and they seem the type to be like "use nature to survive but also make sure it's usable for the future and maintain its sanctity" or whatever.

[X] Magister Tochter Grunfeld
Get to know Tochter Grunfeld, ritualist, traditionalist, and veteran of the Sylvanian Campaign.
[X] Gretel
She's apparently getting involved in the Karaz Ankor's ambitions in the Border Princes.
[X] Okri
You've met Loremaster Okri of Karak Eight Peaks once before. Pay him a visit and see how his great ambitions for heavily-armed Ironbreakers delivered by Gyrocarriage are going.
[X] Sylvania
Meet this would-be Markgraf Nyklaus for yourself.
[X] Eike
Hold some sort of celebration for her upcoming graduation out of Junior Apprentice.

Eike! Eike! Eike! Eike!

But that's not what it says. It says they value an institution that will keep safe and spread the knowledge entrusted to it, which we absolutely will. It doesn't say that we need to happily pass on every scrap of forbidden lore that comes our way. Sure, they'd be happier if we did, but I really don't think such an extreme requirement would be left unmentioned. I think you've inferred a requirement from their preferences that isn't there.

If we aren't willing to handle the nasty stuff, they just won't give us the nasty stuff. Which works out, because we don't want it.
If the lore keepers as an sect were completely incapable of compromise, they won't be one of the more powerful groups in the cult.

Yes a heavy influence of them would make it harder to burn the bad books, especially the edge cases like the Scrolls of Zandri and The Creeping Flesh.

and they would prob break ties if we didn't tell the latest arch lector going on a purging spree of sigmar/Mor/Uric lore they don't agree with to fuck off.

But I doubt all but the most zealot of them would make waves over an ally library getting rid of an actually possessed book or one that makes people crazy.

They won't like it, but it's not the hill to die on for all but the most extreme.
Fair enough.

Personally, I hope the Eike celebration is an actual party. Wilhelmina has to be invited. Panoramia would be a good addition, because if it's a celebration it needs good food, and who else better to provide it than Pan and her Halfling friends? Would Anton be invited? I imagine he'd be a cool uncle, but I don't know how much Eike interacts with him. All of Eike's friends from College too, whoever they turn out to be (I made omakes about possibilities, so I might make a followup on that).

I have no idea what we'll do with Eike, but I assume Boney will come up with something. I recommend it be hosted in K8P and include some crazy antics. Like jumping off Mathilde's Gyrocarriage with Eike in tow and teleporting before hitting the ground for the skydiving experience. I don't think momentum carries over with teleports. Clearly nothing will go wrong. Regimand does it after all :V

There is also the fact that Warhammer forests are hostile and gribbly infested, and should be "taken care of" lest those gribblies become an even bigger threat.

From a certain point of view, Laurelorn and Athel Loren are still hostile, but the Elves made the best of it and maintain it regardless. The fact that humans have failed to do the same to their own forests could be seen as a point of failure on the humans' part.

Not a viewpoint that I own, but one that I could see being touted. Which honestly makes me sound like an Elf.

The Council of Manhorak are the ones who are going to be responsible for making any victories against the forces of Necromancy in Sylvania stick, and they're going to need funding to make that happen.
Long term problems need long term solutions.

the Dwarves have found a number of Dwarven corpses

You hope that the Vampire has at least a few Grudges to its name, as a strike against the Strigoi bloodline in the abstract might be considered by some to have been a poor reason for the journey to have been made.
I rather suspect that Mathilde's standards of what is 'worth the effort' are rather warped.

In the end, it's likely that everything the course tells you are things you could have figured out for yourself, but there is value in seeing all of the common trouble spots laid out for you.
Ha! There is a vast and often lethal gap between things you 'could' or 'should' have figured out and the things you actually do figure out before it is too late.

We should be careful that Mathilde doesn't start believing her own hype.

So, you summarize to yourself, there is a high (and highly-visible) short-term profit to be made in the trade in Ithilmar, some profit to be made in raw materials with unknown long-term prospects, and long-term opportunities in supplying small amounts of spices and dyes. There's a significant opportunity in the possibility of smelting in Tor Lithanel, but it will require significant investment and the supply needs to be able to get to the Sea of Claws by boat without passing through Marienburg. But there's one good that the Empire is able to supply easily and in bulk, and that Tor Lithanel has an untapped demand for: charcoal.
Very promising. We probably have the money to kickstart Ithilmar, the rest we can leave to the EIC once we have a foot in the door.

We have absolutely no lack of things to write about. A revision isn't trading a 4 for a potentially better number, it is trading a 4 for a 0.

To be fair the wood controlled by the main forest gods of the empire in talabecland is much less hostile. The provinces with the most hostile woods are all sigmarite or Morrite majority states. With the ulrican states standing between the two extremes.

I'm going to guess that it falls under the same category as "Is Morghur a Daemon?". I imaigine that's also a debate starter.
From what Mathilde said when first telling the Ducklings about the skaven the colleges don't consider it 100% settled that Nurgle and the Horned Rat are separate entities. There's got to be lots of instances of this.
