Cython picked fights with pretty much every dark elf raider that sailed too close to his island, usually just for the sport of hunting the sea monsters that pulled their ships, and he actually did destroy clan skyre, that happened in quest.

Zhufbar has an entire section of their mountain blocked off because a Fire Dragon lives there. I think you are drastically underestimating just how powerful these things are.
Just to make sure there's no confusion here, Clan Skryre's army they sent to kill Mors was destroyed, Clan Skryre itself almost certainly still exists.

Well, as we are talking of librarians leaving with books, let me offer a supportive argument towards my favorite librarian.

You want to know who is not going to leave taking books with them?
The We.
If The We is picked as a librarian, they will be the most dependable librarian imaginable, they will defend the library to death (or very close to), and they will never leave taking precious books with them.
Because they can't.
Ok, they could, but doing so would be incredibly risky because of their nature, The We is going to remain in the library until forced to leave, and they are going to value those books like they were their very life.

No other librarian is going to be so dedicated (well, some Verenans might be, but even then only some), so dependable, or so loyal to the institution, as The We.
To add to this if we also decide to make them into scribes it will synergize even more, especially when they eventually split into another We colony as it will result in a colony of scribe spiders ready to be used for a variety of purposes at varying locations.

the dragon can warp space. i am fairly confident that he could pick up the book horde and leave if he wanted to.

Perhaps they could, though I'm skeptical. I do not think they could do so unopposed however.

Any raider short of a Black Arc yes. Which clearly shows it knew how to pick its fights. A boat vs. a Dragon is an incredibly favorable matchup for the Dragon.

Canon implies that there's more Battle Altars than the two ones that models and rules were made for, probably to leave the door open to adding others if they wanted to later. By extension the general category of 'Battle Altars' would be an enchantment meant to be able to cast a Battle Magic spell several times in quick succession, and the complexity of such an enchantment results in something the size of a cart and powered by power stones or an Orb of Sorcery.

Jovi Sunscryer did not invent the Luminark, he just built one.
Would anyone mind if I spitballed a few ideas for Battle Altars/luminarchs? They sound fun

In turns of Training (AP)before 'they can actually do the job' and 'how long until we can open up the library' (Turns) (I'm not sure if it will be AP or just Turns as the cost @Boney?)

Probably just time unless you want to instil something exotic, Mathilde will set up teachers and trainers if needed as part of the current action.

apparently Cython ran a magic school in the sorcerer's islands

Cython was there after the Elves left but before the Arabyans settled the islands and built their magic school there, so it can't really add headmaster to its resume.

I don't have a problem with it.

or some guy who has none of that.
Emotional support human?

I think they could hire a human for PR reasons, though that would be sad. As giant spiders are very cool.

If Cython gets it into its head that it really wants to Carmen Sandiego the library, it doesn't seem like it would make a difference one way or the other if it was made librarian or not beforehand.
Where in the world is giant laser dragon~

So of the top three my guess of their biggest selling points would be

Cython: Best for getting the absolute most amount of information inside the library. Via their personal stash, and getting easier access to other institutions.
The We: Best for library upkeep. By being the We
Locals: Best for getting the quickest buyin for library usage by residents.

In the long term, the candidates for any position in the We-run library would be between an added iteration of an effectively immortal hive-mind that knows everything about the library and can be in constant communication with every other librarian, or some guy who has none of that.
I'm not going to pretend that this 'kills it' for me, I don't want the WE to start with, so that would just be a bald-faced lie.

but as I voted for the Library so that Humans, Dwarfs and Halflings (and Dragons and elves?... and ya, the odd WE drone even if that doesn't seem possible without them taking over anymore.) would work together in nerd harmony: it would be very painful for that aspect to just go up in smoke because a super-hive mind doesn't need to 'help'.

'Locals' is my number one as technically it still leaves the door open for any of the groups. (e.g a local Cult of Verena can grow in K9Ps and a member joins or a Runescribe or an Enoir on a long and weird scholarship etc.)

Cython seems like he would be super picky with the staff, but that still leaves a broad base of people to pick from a small number from.

and I guess Cult of Verena, just because they are very good at the job.

[x] Locals
[x] Cython
[x] Cult of Verena

The We are also really good for security. Hard to pretend to be part of a hive mind even if you happen to be able to shapechange.

They raised some (eight?) of their children there, which probably includes magic, so technically speaking, there arguably was a (highly exclusive) magic school there with Cython as headmaster.
Also, if an emperor dragon wants to put "school headmaster" into their CV, whether they ever were one or not, who is going to argue?

You know I wonder how much of a flex it would be if the We (assuming they are scribes) figured out how to make silk parchment (which was historically used for writing by royalty due to cost) and just started using that for the books they scribe. Would be one ultimate flex for the library considering the cost of anything written on silk parchment.

Actually on that note @Boney would it be harder or easier to produce silk parchment from the We compared to fabric silk?

Paranoth is called the Wanderer for a reason.
You know this is kinda strange to me, Paranoth is like the only wizard that has this kind of appelation be normally used by everyone. Mathilde's got some titles, but none of them seem to be used uniformly by everyone. So sad, i wish for this kind of clout.

And almost impossible to bribe to do anything that might harm the library, because the library would be almost part of them.
Also trying to sneak in would be like playing a stealth game with every enemy sharing their detection cones. If one spots you then very quickly the entire place will know you are about and roughly where you are.
The price of silk in the Old World means it hasn't occurred to anyone to try it.
Huh interesting, I hope if we make the We scribes that the idea might occur to someone. It would be hilarious flex to be able to gift people books made with silk parchment.

i actually like the we as a choice. im a bit aprehesious about people not liking giant spiders but im guessing that if their there long enough they would get a reputation and people might relax.

actually how is the silk thing going? when do we get our sheets i mean?
