Unfortunately it's a lot harder to get secrets out of a priest than a wizard, so I'd expect we'd have have to do a really big favour for them or tempt them to join the project via some solid early successes.

Why, actually? Are priests really under stronger secrecy obligations than wizards, or is it just that the priestly trust in their god is antithetical to controlled experiments?

Would explanations come easier to a priest of Hekarti, for example, or another elven god? Mathilde's in Laurelorn, she can interview plenty of those.

As for rolls mainly stuff like training rolls or when trying to find books and the like.
Huh. Why do those feel needles? Some times trying to learn a skill just doesn't work out the way one hopes it would, especially if one only invests a month's worth of time. Rolls here don't only reflect Mathilde's skill, they also reflect chance circumstances.
I'm curious, how do you see Mathilde's involvement to the Project, when it actually starts? As administrator, who deals with any external issues? As researcher? As a mediator, who focus on smoothing problems within our research group? Or something else?
I mean, Mathilde would certainly qualify for everything, but I don't think there will be enough time.
I see her in the equivalent of the vague and broad "producer" role in media projects. She takes care that everyone else has what they need and do what they are supposed to, in the broader sense, while also giving important input about the Project's direction and priorities and dealing with the financers and patrons. She also has an extra interest in being up to date with the latest research results and has a say when it comes to which broad area to look into next, both conceptually and geographically. But she won't be the lead researcher in any of the subjects of interest and she won't be anyone's assistant either, except in very particular cases where an Ulgu Wizard with her particular skills is exactly what's needed. At least up until Windherding happens to be super relevant.

Also, she's the boss of WEB-MAT and directs its members. I'm curious how that will work with Egrimm, who is both representing the Order of Light alongside Elrisse and also Mathilde's employee.
Well at lest at first I imagine she would be pressed into service as a translator. She is as far as I can tell the only one who can talk with Thorek in his native language as well as being able to translate dwarf to elf and the other way around without having to go though a human language.
Johann and Max speak Khazalid and will participate in the main project at the very least as Mathilde's and Egrimm's official assistants. Practically more Mathilde's and with both of them contributing their personal talents.

The Cults of the Empire are traditionally mystery cults. They don't even share relatively basic theological theories or foundational cosmology with their lay parishioners. Wizards are similar, but for them it's more a mix of profitable Guild secrets and an imperative to keep magical knowledge out of the hand of non-mages and illegal mages. For the Cults it seem like a millennia old religious commandment.

Someone recently made a Mega folder full of Age of Reckoning art - including a lot of concept art - that was on the AoR website before it went down. Even has maps of individual elven kingdoms. The art was all publicly accessible and the Mega folder has been given the legal thumbs up by a GW affiliate, so no copyright issues or anything with it existing or downloading it. Here it is. In addition, I wanted to post a few pictures from there.
This looks like something Gotri might end up making. Seems to be powered by booze. We also have official confirmation that Warhammer squirrels have SAM launchers.

This one isn't relevant to Divided Loyalties, I just wanted to post it because of how surprisingly hard the Empire goes when it makes battering rams. Like damn.

*Heavy metal intensifies*

I feel like Max would have a blast studying one of these.

I'm in favour of that. A priest of Taal would probably be my next choice for an Imperial partner, if only to get access to the Waystones we know they are using as holy places, but there are political advantages to a priest of Ulric that we shouldn't disregard either, and their lore is probably just as good as the Taalites.

This may just be because I have been watching too many Total War Warhammer 3 LP's lately, but what about the Cult of Ursun?

True, but there are still priests of Ursun around. Boris offered us some when we were considering basing ourselves in Kislev.
He said "Ursun knows me", implying he could leverage the Cult, but he also stated later on in the Ostermark mini arc that all the "true servants of the Bear" died off in the Great War against Chaos, and only cowards remain.

Here's some Boney quotes on how they're doing:
The Cult of Ursun was largely wiped out in the Great War Against Chaos, and currently Ulric is more popular in Kislev than Ursun is.
In the aftermath of the Great War that Kislev is still languishing in, there is no more Fire Spire magic, and no Dazh or Tor or Ursun Priests that are seen as brave and trustworthy. Only the Ice Witches were left relatively intact in population and reputation by the Great War, because the Ice Witches rallied to Kislev City instead of Praag because of their long-standing and well-known hostility towards the Fire Spire.

In a way, Ulric is a God who's all about surviving the winter. Ursun is kind of weird in that he hibernates through the winter months. I can see how an argument could be made that Ulric would be preferable to a super cold nation.

There's the Ancient Widow of course, but she's venerated by the Ice Witches and the Hag Witches to some extent. They don't prostelyse her worship and there are no temples or standards of worship for her. On the other hand, Total Warhammer 3 introduced the concept of Ursun's roar banishing Kislev's winter when he wakes up from his hibernation though, so there's that.

This is really cool thanks. I will say the maps are pretty low quality. They look more like first drafts for a map rather than anything really useable, but still, they're neat.

As for things we want to share this is now my headcanon for how Branalhune looks:

Also stuff from here has been used in the quest before. One of Mathilde's pistol options used this artwork, way back when she was first buying them.

Ulric's also the god who brings in Winter, which can put off people who have to bear through it.

I haven't even read the discussion for this past update but can I just say it is absolutely amazing how much participation this quest has. I mean this particular update doesn't seem to have anything out of the ordinary and it is a relatively simple vote but it has generated 56 pages of discussion.

Are there any other quests that generate as much participation and discussion as this one?

This quest does have a lot of discussion, but it's hard to say by how much more than other long-runners, because I think part of the reason we get so many pages is that a lot of other quests have Discords, so all the side tangents and random QM questions get sent off to there instead of the main thread. (Waking up to the absolute nightmare that is 900+ messages in one channel is quite something)

That's why I prefer for the discussion to occur here instead of discord, it's much easier to follow everything.
There are advantages and disadvantages to a Discord. On one hand, Discord is a much better platform for just chatting and have conversations, hanging out with other people and having a good time. On the other, it is not the place for in depth discussion and going over the chat can be a nightmare after the fact.

I wouldn't mind a DL chat for people to just hang out and chat if we all decide not to actually discuss the quest in it. Sounds counterproductive, but Discord is mostly for hanging out with friends, not actual discussion of literature. Believe me, I would know this.

I can't believe a plan I named so silly won.

It's better than the two slow and steady plans (one of which I wrote) that both resulted in absolute chaos.

Yeah, I'm in a FF14 RP community that mostly communicates through Discord. Great for hanging out and chatting with people, but the size of the community means we're really pushing up against Discord's limits when ever we want a more in-depth discussion about, well, anything.
