Ogres can use the Lores of Beasts, Fire, Heaven, and Death alongside the Great Maw, so I imagine that as long as a Wind resonates with them they can use it, just like humans can. Those four Winds probably resonate the most with them, with Ghyran, Ulgu, Hysh and Chamon being harder for them to grasp, but Ulgu is probably easier for them to cultivate than Hysh or Chamon.

There was also an Ogre Butcher once who made too many vegetable recipes so he was kicked out of his home tribe. He ended up in Cathay and taught them the secrets of hardening bamboo with his recipes, allowing for more advanced peasant armor. I imagine Ogres like him could probably grasp the Lore of Life. (Source: Hardened Bamboo Armor Technology for Cathay in TW 3).

You know part of me wonders if we can find any Ogre Butchers doing mercenary work and just try to question them, it is sort of kind of in the Web-Mat Mandate if you squint and it might be something to do with Erngrim and Johann that us not just poking artifacts... on the other hand I do not think either elves or dwarfs would be that happy to have cannibal priests on their land... yeah probably not worth it in the near future. In any case they do not cast out of out lore so we will not get as much out of it as other mages might.

Ugh, who wants some nerds diary. That is so last season. No girl, you have to move with the time. Don't you know that books from Marienburg are the thing now?
Well I suppose if you wanna get real extra theres this place where they have super important law engraved into plates of gold, those technically qualify.

For roughly twelve second at least.

What's her go to book? The laws of the colleges? Academic, romance, or a romance with a fake academic binder?

This is the most important!

Whatever she's reading at the time. Most occasions that call for formal dress are very dull. Another popular option is a false book with a compartment, either for bringing snacks if there isn't a buffet or for bringing some stuff home if there is.

The golden age of Ogre mercenaries has yet to begin, though Mathilde just recently met the very first Maneater who's eventually going to spark it off.

There are some Ogre slayers canonically

Some Ogres decide to stop being an Ogre and join another society, and no one stops them, because who's going to say no to an Ogre?

Maneaters like to adopt the trappings of the societies they fight in, and I could certainly imagine some Ogres putting up Mohawks, but I'm pretty sure a Dwarf would punch your teeth in if you called them slayers.

I see Algard expanded compartments are as useful as ever. I would say one should make a law against taking that much from the buffet table home. But then again Gray Wizard, not like someone is going to catch him in the act.

I think the Dwarfs would be willing to accept a Dawongr's oath and might consider them a true slayer. But yeah, I don't know if they'd accept some random ogre as a Slayer just cause they said they were.

…Who wants to bet they hold competitions for stealing the most buffet food without getting caught? Whether by other people or by each other?

Not sure about Dawongrs, but Mathilde would probably be allowed at least. And then half the Karaz Ankor would freak out because she's probably a household name by this point.

On the subject of non-dwarf slayers I am not sure how they would take it, on the one hand we do know that human worship on the dwarf gods does happen, smiths worshiping Grungi for instance, but slayers are special. I am not sure if mist dwarfs would be willing to let that slide since it is one of their most solemn and most dreadful rites in imitation of the divine. At the very least I imagine one would have to be a dwarf friend in good standing though, so no random Ogres.

Slayerdom has two very conflicting requirements. First you have to be acknowledged to have honor. Then you have to lose it/sacrifice it. Plenty of dwarfs are just going to be upset if you call yourself a slayer because you can't lose your honor is you didn't have any to start with.

There was that priest of Grimnir back when Abelheim (or however you spell that) died, who basically did counseling for Mathilde to stop her from becoming something like a slayer. Think at the very least the dwarves would have to recognize that you have the mindset of a slayer, but non-dwarf slayers still seem unlikely.

EDIT: Actually, was that the first instance of dwarven headpats? I didn't really think of it at the time, but the priest acknowledging Mathilde in that way was pretty much a recognition of her "dwarfiness"

Speaking of that period, do we have any clue what was going on with the Amythests and their crypt adventures (and the nat 1 that made them leave the campaign, which wasn't necessarily the worst thing for us)?

I assume that they wanted to steal some lore that they knew was in the castle. Can't really blame him. Even if he never intended to use it we have proven just how useful it can be to know forbidden lore.
