Truthfully if we can dissapear him for questioning I would want to capture him. Getting the source of his magic learning would help Empire a lot. Kill him. And the cult that backed him is still out there to try again.

Also I like this investigation episodes. Perhaps after our current job we can take an Empire job that has us do more of this.

This whole situation is making me wonder. How would we feel if we put a bunch of effort into foiling the plans of the forces of evil. We are tensely waiting for the final confrontation to find out if hard work will pay off-

-and just when we expected things to come to a head some other member of the the forces of justice comes and wraps up the whole problem without any of our plans coming into effect?

Whatever happened to that scuffed enchanted hunting horn Mathilde made to only be heard by allies, back in the initial K8P expedition? I think we might've given that away to Dreng?
Are you talking about the spider-horns? The original ones were single-use, and the commemorative one that didn't pan out was smashed.
Normally, enchanting is a long and drawn-out process; the reason for this is that magic really doesn't like to be trapped in one place doing one thing indefinitely. (Talking about magic as if it had desires rather than just a nature is useful shorthand, but whether it is actually true is the source of a great deal of debate.) Trapping it temporarily to do something once, on the other hand, is magnitudes easier - and magnitudes more when the desired effect is the sort of petty magic apprentices begin their education with. You get the hesitant okay of your fellow councillors and then begin to gather your will as they watch uneasily, neither dwarf nor Sylvanian entirely comfortable around magic.

Two days later, the unearthly caterwauling coming from your creation comes to an ignominious end with you shattering it with a hammer.

I would say we don't actually want to take him alive because he probably knows the empress is a fraud, being himself the last of his line.

Kill him and snuff out that loose end.

[X] Kill: Other
-[X] Only a fool rolls the dice without hedging their bets. As soon as you swing Branelhune to bisect the sedan chair, howl. If Alberich has more tricks than you're expecting, having backup inbound will be very much a good thing.

[X] Kill: Dragonflask

Alpha strike and then call heavies in. I mean there's no reason not to right?

Enough authority to keep Alric from sticking his nose into the interrogation if he wants to? I expect that given everything he is going to want get at least some closure.

Regimand would be my bigger concern. It would look quite weird if Mathilde shut him out.

It is tempting but I think I'd prefer to just takes less risks and try to wrap it up.

Thinking it over I'm going with kill here striking first is important and well we also want to make sure nothing is revealed about Heidi's real identity.

Couldn't we just tip off the reinforcements, and then have them set up an ambush either inside the city somewhere, or outside the city as he leaves?

I mean... we've identified his vehicle. We can start calling in Regimand and the Longshanks now, and prepping to hit him.

I'm tempted to either pick "Follow" or "Call in Reinforcements."

In fact I want to do a mix of both; "Call in Reinforcements while following after him, and have them set up an ambush for him." A very sure way to confirm the kill is to strike when we have 2 Grey Wizards and a dozen Longshanks available.

This doesn't need saying, if she tries something and it fails she's going to call for reinforcements.

She can keep following him or she can go find people to tip off, she can't do both. And he's going to have to leave that vehicle behind to get out of Talabheim, all the official routes you can drive a sedan chair through close at night, so if she takes her eyes off him then she's back to square one.
