What if they have silk sheets? So does anybody know if Dieter IV stolar away with any artifacts, documents, prized "heretic" history - that could be hidden in the manor?
Otherwise hard pass. Much rather loot dawi zharr or Skaven then.

That could have been a great point when debating whether to bring in a poverty-sworn colleague or a career criminal.
And next time Alric barges into our dealings like an elephant in a porcelain shop and when confronted just repeats "Yeah, that sounds like something I'd do" back to us, alongside some fig leaf that allows him to claim he was doing his job in front of third parties.
Now that just warms the heart.[Does Regimand help? Roll: 78-10(busy)-20(college politics)+100(wants to spend time with Mathilde)=148.]
I'm all for this if we get a chance. The Unfähigers bled the Empire white during the reign of Dieter IV, and part of you is tempted to put some of that wealth towards more worthy causes.
Boney, I'm a little confused about something: are we dropping actions from our turnplan in order to make time for this investigation? My impression of the timeline so far is that we've spent a week in things, and three weeks more would take us to the end of our allotted action for this, but people are talking about this as though we have the full eight weeks until the next murder. Or is this a case where I shouldn't poke at the abstraction and you're letting us have the time for this because e.g. there's no effin way that it took a month to walk into Oldenlitz, ask "you in?" and be told "sure"?
(Basically, I'm wondering how heavily we should be weighting "a chance of wrapping this up within the next three weeks so we can go home and get to the next thing on our to-do.")
How will this work in tandem with the fact that a) we have our turn full with actions and don't plan to overwork and b) there being another mission with mini-turns waiting for us in this same six month turn? Especially since you already resolved all of our other actions with strain AP cost.
One suggestion would be to allow us to push the Gryphon Woods to next turn if we want to. Another to simply let us go over turn if we want to and subtract AP as already spent.
Given the timeline, are there any murders that probably happened after Alric got in contact with the Unfähigers? I want to know if he already had a failure on this job or not.
Is there any conceivable way to do this with either a) Regimand not knowing we brought the Empress in or b) not knowing that it was our idea instead of her asking to be included due to being a Haupt-Anderssen?
@Boney could we get a comprehensive timeline of the Haupt-Anderssen demises and maybe a description of what the upcoming murder would be paralleling?
If we investigate Krieglitz Manor, will we also get a rough accounting of the riches potentially up for grabs, so that we have a better idea just how worth plundering it would be some point later in the investigation?
There one kind of action I am missing and that would be doing the job Mira asked us to do. I.e. investigating Alric.
To be more specific about how that would look, I'd like an action to retrace his steps, see who he talked to in his own investigations and generally try to find out everything he knows about this without actually approaching him.
Would this be a free action after renegotiating with Mira? Or would it take another week to get them here?
@Boney Would this work as a write in:
[X] Plan Ritual denial - Inside Sources:
-[X] Research: Murder Rituals
-[X] Plunder Krieglitz Manor - with an eye on seizing any Divine or Magical artifact, and testing/isolating them all. It's likely that a family like this has something terrible or cursed in their possession. A ritual focus, a cursed item, something to help aim and direct the ritual, or feed from the deaths.
-[X] Approach the hunting lodge Unfahigers - Insist on them allowing you/showing you anything on them they brought along, and check everything with your senses. Make sure nothing near or on them is part of this ritual. Introduce yourself only as Magister Grey, and keep your appearance hidden. Give no one watching them, or anyone they might be working with any clues to ID or track you. Ask them about hidden crypts, vaults and cursed items their ancestor might have brought/buried somewhere.
Does Mathilde read High Priestess Heidi as the kind of person who would resort to just in case assassination, given the stakes? Personally I wouldn't have expected that. It would be against the strictures if Ranald, given that Alric is neither an enemy of humanity nor someone who could be easily portrayed as oppressing Heidi from above. I.e the Protector should frown on the Empress flexing her power to have an inconvenient underlined murdered, especially if said underling is currently involved in protecting people against Chaos.
Oh, right, the Colleges hate Dieter even more than anyone else.He would have joined the Grey Order during or immediately after the sieges. He wouldn't join in, but for this family, there'd be a blind eye or two to be found.
Chaos being involved makes up for quite a few things, as opposition to them is in the mandate:...You know, as far as deeds done to get back into the good graces of the Colleges go, this is a pretty crummy one isn't it? Alric's really scraping the bottom of the barrel here.
This situation fits article 15 perfectly.15. All Magisters are required to exert themselves to seek out and counter such destructive and anti-Imperial machinations, practices, peoples, and creatures that are beyond the means of civil authorities and Sigmar's Templars to counter, but yet still serve the Daemon Gods or advance the corruption of Imperial citizens through any sorcerous or infernal means. This shall be the prime concern and purpose of the Colleges, their Orders and the Magisters belonging to them, and to fail in this duty is to render void all the Articles of this document and make obsolete their permission to practise arcane arts without hindrance.
Thanks, that settles my mind.Don't sweat the timetable. Mathilde will work it out, she knocked out the other tasks this turn pretty efficiently and cleared the deck for this. If this runs to through the entire timeline it might eat an action from next turn.
[ ] Research: Alberich's fate
Abelhelm would have had what happened to the last Haupt-Anderssen looked into. Someone has that report. Maybe Roswita, maybe the Witch Hunters, maybe the Cult of Sigmar. Find it.
Oh sure, it's certainly in the job description, but it's barely the big victory everyone will be impressed by and love him for that he needs. He might be able to sell it as such, but the victims in question make it a much trickier task than almost any other equivalent deed would accomplish.[X] Plan Means Motive Opportunity

I've read Alric as having great charisma but terrible interpersonal skills. By all reason his career should've been dead after his first fiasco. He still won fair and square though, kept it even. Something like, they already disowned Dieter IV, familicide of a noble bloodline is pretty big news. The colleges were aware and didn't move a finger, while the others were doing nothing but politics, he went out into the world and helped the most needing of help he could. Wouldn't you know it, he was fighting the Chaos Gods the whole time, what the colleges were built for. Boom, great deed, ride high for a while....You know, as far as deeds done to get back into the good graces of the Colleges go, this is a pretty crummy one isn't it? Mathilde can probably tell and come out better for it. She made a friend with Egrimm, traded for him for a favor, got shut out by de-facto patriarch when they learned the ex-patriarch was dealing with chaos.Renegotiating the deal is an interesting option, but a potential snag seems to be: What if Mira just decides she's not interested, and at this point we've fulfilled our end of the bargain and she wants to deal with the rest in house? That would be a very awkward spot for Mathilde to be in.
A compelling argument, but I don't like renegotiating with Mira yet, or possibly at all.I feel like people are missing a trick - we have a contact that Alric doesn't when it comes to investigating Alric. Specifically:
I'm surprised this option hasn't come up. Abelhelm was a damn good witch hunter (see his unraveling of our own conspiracy entanglement), and he would have done significant research into his predecessor. And he'd specifically have been on the lookout for the sort of thing that leads to chaos rituals popping up afterwards.
Mathilde has the contacts with Roswita to get ahold of that research, while Alric was busy pissing Roswita off last time they met.

Fascinating new discovery for me. If you go to Thread Tools and Vote Tally, you can click your name if you see it and SV will bring you to your last vote. Very handy.
Yes.@Boney is elspeth von draken old enough to have experienced the night of thousand arcane duels?
