Goro - Willingly rejected humanity - No Effect
Insect - Willingly rejected humanity - No Effect
Rotund - Willingly rejected humanity - No Effect
Daisuke - Willingly rejected humanity - No Effect
Kanten - Natural Born Youma - No Effect

Fuck. Well, wasted attack, and possibly some psychological trauma from actually killing humans, yay!

I suppose it makes sense that we couldn't help those who don't want to be helped.

"Usagi?" Ami asks, surprised to see the girl she thought dead.

Sailor Moon's eyes track up to the girl next to Luna, and despite the clear pain that the girl is in, her face lights up with a grin. "Ami! HA!" Usagi gives a pump of her fist. "I knew it!"

interesting, apparently the "you don't recognize me" effect doesn't work on other solar senshi. Or at least not on friendly ones. Maybe it's simply a subconscious "I don't care if she knows" effect.

Without even looking, Usagi reaches up, catching the tiara as it flies back into her hand. "However, we've still got these five to deal with." On the one hand, the blonde haired girl seems to be completely at ease with what is happening, but on the other hand she winces with every other word, and that is still an alarmingly large amount of blood seeping down one of Sailor Moon's legs.

Noticing where Sailor Mercury is looking, Sailor Moon gives the girl a slightly watery smile. "I'm fine. It looks worse than it really is... Really."

Sailor Mercury doesn't exactly look like she believes her, but the sounds of the approaching demons makes it clear that they aren't going to have the time to talk right now.
...damn, Usagi really looks reliable here! I'm proud of her!

"Are you injured, Sailor Mercury?" A voice asks, as a tall, dark haired figure step through the mist. Dressed in the sharpest of suits, with a mask and top hat, the unknown element step closer to Sailor Mercury. Before she has a chance to respond, he places a glowing gloved hand on her shoulder. The pain is instantly gone. "Truly, filth so rude has no right to put a hand on such a lady. I've disinfected the wound and helped it seal. You'll want to be careful with the arm for the next few days."

...wait, he has healing powers? He's a stealth medic! nice!
They say instinct is stronger than thought, and sometimes that can lead to words leaving a mouth before the person saying them can think the words through. "Bits and pieces of him are covering about half the room right now, and the rest is all up in the skin of the demon trying to get to his feet back there."

"Ah." The man says, shaking his head. "By the by, the demon you are fighting to starting to get up again."

is starting to.
Ami turns to look at the demon struggling to it's feet before glancing back to where Tuxedo Mask was standing, only to look at empty mist. Nonetheless his voice echoes out through the mist. "That is a problem. I needed to know what Zoisite knows about the..." He goes quiet for a moment. "If I can't find my answers here... Then I'm going to have to try and track down Metlan instead. I shall take my leave."

Even the Mercury Goggles are unable to find the mysterious figure.

All things considered Tuxedo Kamen made a pretty good first impression on Mercury I think.

He can even evade the Mercury Goggles!

He's still mostly useless in an actual fight, but maybe that can change here, who knows.

Unfortunately, Tuxedo Mask's words are exactly the kind of distraction that Daisuke ha been waiting for

Tuxedo, you had ONE NO JOB, and yet you made it worse for us!
The demon slowly looks down at his empty hands "I just had her. Why did I throw her? I can't punch her if I throw her."

thank the Moon they are incompetent
The Demon laughs, "It doesn't matter what happens to any of these other fools. They may have also once been humans, but I am a true demon now. And a stupid human like you will never manage to stop me."

"Do you ever shut up?" Sailor Moon growls, as she reaches up and grabs hold of her tiara, pulling it from her brow. "Moon Tiara Action." As the tiara spins faster and faster, glowing brighter before she tosses the ring of light at the demon. The attack strikes true, and in a burst of light and fire, the demon is no more.

Last famous words...
AMI - Sabão Freeze - 8 + 10 + 3 = 21
USAGI - Moon Tiara Action - 2 + 17 + 3 = 22
SAILOR SENSHI - 21 + 22 = 43
DAISUKE - 9 + 17 + 12 - 2 = 36
This would be combat round 4 actually. Also we can literally combine the spell's scores? That's pretty OP.

I can only assume we will NEED IT to survive.

Goro - Willingly rejected humanity - No Effect
Insect - Willingly rejected humanity - No Effect
Rotund - Willingly rejected humanity - No Effect
Daisuke - Willingly rejected humanity - No Effect

...Well, that's horrifying. Is it a case where the Youma basically offer them "monster or death", or are there at least 4 kids who actively thought, "you know what, torturing and killing my classmates and neighbors really HAS been an unrealized ambition of mine"? I mean, there's currently no way of telling how much of the "original" kid is still in there. What if the kid just wanted to beat up a bully and then got totally mindwarped into something unrecognizable? And the worst part is that no matter the specifics, there's still going to be a "missing child" poster that Usagi's going to have to pass by without even being able to provide any closure to the family regarding what exactly happened.

LUNA - Interference: 4+6 =10
RESULTS: +3 Prowess to Senshi for Combat
AMI - Sabão Freeze: 7 + 10 +3 = 20
RESULTS: -2 Prowess to a Youma: 4
Kanten: -2 Prowess
Says here that Luna boosted all the Senshis' rolls by +3 due to running interference, and more than once that advantage made a difference. Yet none of the actual scenes ever showed her doing any interference to help, or even mentioned her after the fight started.

That was very much the original plan, but trying to write a cat fighting is hard. I'm probably not going to have that be a repeat occurrence

Plus, who would truly believe a child saying their big sister is a superhero?
A youma? I mean, I gather they are simultaneously gullible, incapable of normal logic, good at insane troll logic, and eagerly seeking out the Sailor Senshi. You'd think they would routinely follow up on dumbass rumors that don't go anywhere... only this time, it would.

Minor canon nitpick: unless this is a deliberate change, Sailor V has a blue skirt and red bow also, not Sailor Venus's colors. I think the official explanation is that it was part of her acting as a fake Moon Princess, though I don't know that that stands up to much scrutiny given that Sailor Moon doesn't seem to have been a thing that existed in the Silver Millennium.
Hypothesis:

Someone who knew a lot about the Silver Millenium would for some reason expect that if there was a Sailor Moon, those would be her colors. So when they see an obvious Sailor Senshi running around in blue and red, colors none of the originals would wear... they draw the obvious wrong conclusion.

My temptation is that we would eventually be able to split up and send Sailor Scout teams to hit multiple plots at once, but that would require WAY more spywork to make that feasible. The key strengths of going in full force for each plot every time like the show is both overwhelming force and the ability for Scouts to cover each others weaknesses. If we want to avoid, say, sending Sailor Mars to a hostage scenario she lacks the skills to dispel, or sending Sailor Mercury into a fight way above her weight class, we would need a lot of spying and mapping out of the exact hostiles in order to plan safely. I don't think it's impossible, but we would need to be very deliberate about how we proceed to avoid getting overwhelmed or letting more innocents suffer than necessary.
Well, we'll soon hopefully have four or five Sailors to go around, and several reasonably complementary pairs and trios that can be put together. Sailor Mercury probably shouldn't tackle anything too ferocious on her own, being a support character, but pair her with Mars or Jupiter to act as the brawn of the outfit and things work a little better.

The danger isn't so much lacking the right specialization, I'd think, as defeat in detail- someone figures out that the girls usually intervene in pairs and sets a trap good enough to catch two, then draw out the others on unfavorable terms.

Well, the interference could have just been a cat running around, going between legs, making noise, and just being a distraction. Or maybe using her magic to flash them in the eyes or something. It doesn't necessarily have to be 'fighting' that's the Senshis' job.

It's nice to that Usagi has a battle buddy, I'm looking forward to the two working together and talking about the crazy stuff that is happening around them.

is it even worth it?
I don't really think so.
It is an option though.

I think very situational at best, such as if one of these former humans is acting like a kill-switch (eg, it will absorb the souls of those its worked its magic on if damaged enough, or would detonate like a bomb). But that sounds very convoluted and unlikely in the first place. and too grimdark.

It will be easier healing people who are being poisoned by background corruption, compared to those going full demon of their own volition in the first place.

Beauty and the Baka: Aftermath
With a long groan, Sailor Moon slowly rolls her shoulder again, flexing her arm as she shifts her arm this way and that way, testing her range of motion. "Okay... It hurts, but I don't think anything is broken or anything like that." She mutters, more to herself than to anyone else.

The Senshi of the Moon looks over to Sailor Mercury, "Now that we've dealt with the demons..." She stops, looking back and forth down the hall. "Maybe this isn't the best place for this. I know how we can get up to the roof. Less chance of people overhearing us up there."

"That's probably for the best," Luna agrees, as she leaps up, landing on Sailor Moon's good shoulder. "This is going to be complicated enough to explain without running into regular people."

"...And where were you during all of this?" Usagi asks, but the grin on her face makes it clear that there aren't any hard feelings.

"I was helping." Luna says simply, I managed to keep the fat one busy for nearly ten minutes before it lost its temper and went after you."

"Uh-huh." Sailor Moon agrees, distinctly sounding like she doesn't believe the cat. "I didn't happen to see that."

"There was a lot of mist, I'm not surprised you missed some of what was going on."

"Uh-huh." Reaching up, Sailor Moon scratches Luna behind the ears in the one spot that the cat likes most, causing her to break into a soft purr. "Anyways, this way," Usagi says, pointing over towards the room she came from.

The three quickly backtrack through the cram school, returning to the room that Sailor Moon used to enter into the building. "Thanks to our Senshi transformation, we'll be able to easily climb up to the roof from here." She says as she slides open the window, swinging a leg outside. "Come on, it's easier than it looks."

Sailor Mercury doesn't exactly look like she believes Sailor Moon, but she is willing to at least give it a try, if only so that she can get some kind of explanation for what is going on. However, Sailor Moon is right - Climbing to the roof is remarkably easy.

Once on the roof, Sailor Moon finds a spot, dropping down to sit on one of the metal cooling units on top of the building. "First off... I'm sorry that you had to learn about all of this, like this." Sailor Moon says to start. "I know exactly how crazy this all feels. Some cat coming out of nowhere telling you that you have magic powers and that it is your destiny to save the world. I'm hoping that in the end you'll be willing to help us out, but I'm willing to answer any questions that you might have about any of this... I can't promise that I have the answers, but I won't lie to you."

Sailor Mercury is quiet for a long moment, slowly pacing back and forth across the roof. More than once, she opens her mouth, starting to say something before she seems to think better of it, cutting herself off and returning back to pacing. "This..." She starts to say. "All of this, the talking cat, the demons, the fact that you aren't dead. I have to confess, this is indeed a major adjustment that I am going to have to give a lot of thought to."

Sailor Moon simply nods, waiting for whatever else that Mercury has to say.

"You are saying that I am one of the few people capable of stopping these monsters, right?" Mercury asks, and Sailor Moon looks first to Luna, before looking to the girl.

"As far as I know, yes," Usagi admits with a sigh. "From how Luna explained it to me, it would be possible for... Like the Police or the JSDF to handle the Youma, but these monsters are inherently superhuman. Stronger and faster and far more durable than a person is. Even for the six demons that we fought today, it would have taken... what...?"

"Probably two or three dozen soldiers to handle the demons." Luna chimes in, "At least, using the weapons and equipment that Earth has in this era. Most of them would have more than likely died as well."

"Then..." Sailor Mercury says softly, "Then I guess it is my duty to do this, to help stop this."

Sailor Moon perks up, a grin on her face. "Well, that's great! Welcome to the Team!"

"Excellent." Sailor Mercury agrees, a bit of a smile finally starting to form on her face. "So when am I going to meet the rest of the team?"

"Well, I can introduce you to Naru tomorrow at lunch," Sailor Moon says, "But other than that..."

"What do you mean?" Ami asks, as she starts to wonder just what she has agreed to, "There have to be more, right? The people who developed the Mercury Computer," The girl points to the device on her wrist, "or whatever these outfits are. And the people who scouted out the Crystal Seminar, or who are going to train us."

"There... There's Naru, but for now... we're... it." Sailor Moon sighs, before steeling herself. "There will be others though." She amends quickly. "We are the Sailor Senshi, the Guardians of the Solar System, Champions of the Planets, and Personal Guard of the Princess of the lost Silver Millennium."

"So..." Ami asks, even as words and terms are filed away into the back of her mind. "How did you know that the Crystal Seminar was a scheme by the Youma to steal people's life force?"

"Do you remember yesterday, when we first arrived at the gates?" Usagi asks, "The way you shivered. Like everything had gone all still and pale and gray..." Usagi shivers simply describing the sensation. "That is one of the biggest signs that we have figured out about how to find a Youma's den..." Usagi is quiet for a moment, but the look on her face makes it clear that she hasn't finished yet. "...Then they tried to kill me."

Then Luna starts to speak, making sure not to lose the momentum that Sailor Moon had managed to build. "The thing is that we have discovered evidence that there is some kind of hidden magical society in Japan." The cat explains. "For some reason, they have developed special magic barriers that contain their own magical signature, making it nearly impossible to find them. I have a theory that the Youma are doing the same thing in order to prevent modern magic users from finding them."

"Why...?" Usagi picks back up, "We don't know yet."

"So... If you are Sailor Moon, and I am Sailor Mercury," Sailor Mercury asks, "How many Senshi are there, is this just the beginning of a Japanese branch, something akin to Sailor V in London?"

"I..." Sailor Moon says, raising a finger to argue, then she pauses. Slowly, her head starts to turn to the cat. "Is Sailor V one of us?"

That was not the question that Ami expected, nor is the answer that Luna gives what she expects either.

"Sailor V is in London. There isn't anything short of Kunzite's Dark Agency being defeated or the Princess being found that will draw her back to Japan. There is no point in asking about that right now."

That was very much not a no.

That wasn't really a yes either, but the way that Luna shuts down the conversation, and the way that she seems to know what is going on with Sailor V is doing makes it sound like Sailor V may indeed be a Senshi.

"...Speaking of which, Luna... You're a Cat?" Ami asks.

Luna goes very quiet, not answering the question at all.

"Luna is a Mao." Usagi says, "They were an alien race from outside of the Solar System that had connections to the Silver Millennium... back... before everything happened. Then the Silver Millennium fell... however long ago it fell now, and Luna was put into Cryo... Cryostatic? She was frozen." Sailor Moon goes quiet now again. "Really... The Mao... Everyone should know about the Mao. They should have arrived after the fall and helped rebuild society. They didn't."

"We..." Luna starts to say.

"We don't know why," Usagi confirms. "We won't know until we manage to redevelop faster than light travel and go to the Mao's home system. Or any of their colonies."

"So..." Ami says, finally managing to put all her thoughts together. "What you are saying is that... it's just the three of us?"

"Well, four." Usagi agrees, "But Naru hasn't managed to learn any magic yet. We only managed to find a primer on magic theory earlier this week..." But Usagi sighs, nodding. "Right now, it is just... me. A girl who has had these powers for less than two weeks, a completely normal teenaged girl, and an alien cat whose memories have been damaged by being frozen for.. a long time. We're looking for a Princess with no idea how to find her. More than that, we know that we have to find her. The Princess is the best bet for defeating the Dark Kingdom Once and for all. Why? We don't know. We are flailing in the dark. That... is part of why I am so happy to know that you are willing to help, even just a little."

"We need the help."

"You have got to be kidding me." Ami groans, but there is still a bit of a smile on her face. "Well then, you said I can meet... Naru, right, tomorrow at lunch?"

I know that this isn't much of an update, mainly covering information that has already been brought up, this is the second half the update. I probably shouldn't have split it, but I did.

Shouldnt this be Learning rather than Intrigue?

Nice, that'll help our Learning a lot.

Hmm, given the description of how well trained soldiers would do, I'm wondering if we should put the effort into a stronger purification spell to work even on willing targets. Not necessarily because they deserve it, but more because it would essentially take them out of the fight, and probably drain their energy so they don't give as much of a boost if the Youma try to eat them anyways. Could be quite handy if we run into more situations like that where we're outnumbered by a lot of corrupted humans

I'm a bit confused. You mean unwilling targets, right? Ah.

Well, yes, such a spell would basically amount to "shut down lesser youma." But I suspect it'd be a focused single-target spell as matched against the area-effect purification she can do with the existing spell.
