It looks like it might be the time for Earthrise to Earthrise, instead of sunrise to sunrise.
Why would you define a local solar day like that? You'd use the mean time it takes for the sun to be directly over head a chosen Meridian. For the moon, we'd probably use the Palace as "Lunar Greenwich"

Uh @Lunaryon has Usagi given Jadeite a royal pardon? I feel that that might become relevant on Wednesday.
The State that he needs a pardon from hasn't existed for millennia.

What is the statute of limitations for assisting in the overthrow and destruction of the Silver Millennium while under mind control, anyway?

Edit: Also, technically, we have arrested him and remanded him into the custody of the Prince of Earth to determine just punishment. I imagine the Mercurians may still have a problem with this, but the way I see it, they gave up any right to extradition when they banished Smaragdi to Earth in the first place.

And yet we're going to be interacting with people for whom it might as well have existed a week ago. Who are, presumably, going to be rather upset at the near total destruction of everyone and everything they knew.
And their AC is broken. The Mercurians may be used to being hot but not temperature wise! Heatstroke tends to make people crabby.

I mean, you wouldn't. Defining a day by a body other than the sun isn't a solar day.

As for why you'd define a day as anything but solar, Moon isn't orbiting the sun, it's orbiting Earth. Earth day is a rotation relative to the thing it's orbiting, moon day is a rotation relative to the thing it's orbiting.

Maybe the Silver Millennium is so used to controlling their own light levels that the sun doesn't matter, and defining days just within the Earth-Moon system simplifies space travel or has greater mystical significance or whatever.

But what I'm realizing now is that the moon being tidally locked with Earth means that the number I found can't possibly mean what I thought it did, so that's egg on my face.

When you're an adolescent lunar avatara who was born on Earth and has actually only spent about a combined total of maybe 12-24 hours on the moon in your life, tops, one supposes you might get a little confused and need some time to figure yourself out.

Furthermore, Usagi hasn't been good at math for very long yet, which may not be helping.

Hmmm. OK, I need a few ancillary rolls.

d10 + 5 vs DC 10 for Ichiro the Purified Snackey.

d2 for Erika skill training target

d100 vs DC 3 for Erika skill training success

d100 vs DC 48 for Tsubomi Diplomacy gain chance

d100 vs DC 45 for Tsubomi Martial gain chance

Rolling for snack purification

8, just short of the DC
Torgamous threw 1 10-faced dice. Reason: Minion class consciousness Total: 3
3 3

Snack is already purified; this is his attempt to cheer someone up. Sadly, unsuccessful, but he did his best.

I shall roll for Erika skill training target.

Hmm. I don't know if this is good or bad.
Neither, really, it's just a question of which of the two combat skills Tsubomi has that Erika lacks is the priority for acquisition. Since the roll was 49, there was no chance of her getting both...

d100 vs DC 3 for Erika skill training success
But she'll at least get the one she aimed for.

I guess I'll roll for the Diplomacy Gain

Dang it...
Well, Tsubomi still got good mileage out of the action even if she doesn't get a Diplomacy point out of it. It wasn't wasted time.

Awh. Well, Tsubomi still gets something out of that action too, in that one of Tsubomi's Turn 2 actions is going to be upgraded to a strictly slightly superior version in Turn 3 now.

The Moon's rotational period, the time it takes to turn 360 degrees on its own axis, which you can in principle measure on the Moon using e.g. centrifugal forces without reference to any external body, or more practically by measuring how often a distant star appears over the horizon, is 655 hours.

The length of the Lunar day, the period from sunrise to sunrise, is 708 hours. This is because while the Moon is rotating it's also moving around the Sun in the same direction, so it has to turn more than a full rotation for the Sun to end up in the same position in the sky. Effectively, orbiting around the Sun in the same direction as it's own rotation removes a day from the Lunar year, and the time is split between the other days.

The same goes for all the planets, incidentally, though the effect is larger when there are fewer days in a year - on Earth it only amounts to around four minutes a day.

Okay, so the 655 number is the Lunar sidereal day (which I just remembered is a thing), while the 708 figure is the Lunar solar day. Got it. Orbital mechanics, man.

Edit: though Venus is different, as it rotates opposite to its orbital motion.

Well, well, well. *Satisfied face* When will Usagi catch this?
That was just Mini self-correcting, methinks.

Just like in these lines:
"You said something about Rule Number Twelve and a list of evil overladies, and I asked which ones because you've beaten a lot of evil overladies, well, Big Mama has, you haven't yet I guess but anyway it's a lot, and I asked if you wanted my help with the list."
"Well, you, uh, Big Mama, said that now that I was a five year old child, if I heard her, uh, you, uh, you know what I mean, making any plans with…" her voice takes on an odd sing-song of recitation "...any flaws I could spot, then they would be corrected before imp-lemon-tation."
And also this one from way before:
"Hmm?" Mini looks from her hammer, to Minako, then back to the hammer. "Oh? The Deets? I got it from the hammer place. It has a complicated name that Mama, uh, Big Mama uses, but I just call it the hammer place."
As I've already said,
"Big Mama is just Small Mama, but big."

Noncanon: Usagi in TNO

What if Usagi Quest Was Set in The TNOverse Part 1

With the triumph of the Axis over the Allies with the Atomic Bombing of Hawaii, An New Order has descended across the world. In the place of the Union Jack and the Hammer. The Swastika and the Rising Sun have taken their place Hegemon's of the world. However as the Germans celebrate their landing on the moon and the Japanese and Americans Stare each other down. They will find that old enemies await them. And one girl that will fundamentally change the world.

Japan

"The fruits of victory are tumbling into our mouths too quickly." Emperor Hirohito
The Sun Never Sets in the Japanese Empire, or at least perhaps not yet. From the distant lands of india and the shores of the Treaty Ports of San Francisco the Japanese hold the largest Empire on Earth. With Imperial Japanese Army Being the Sword and Shield the Emperor's realm. Although not all is good in the empire. Foreign terrorists and traitors calling themselves the Dark Kingdom have been striking at Japanese Citizens. With the Police Bureau or the Kempeitai Secret Police unable to act against them. The Attacks and the Yasuda Groups Collapse have forced the Taisei Yokusankai into trying to select a new Prime Minister, however such efforts are stalled due to bickering and factionalism. Meanwhile China plots and prepares for a war. A war that will decide the fate of Asia Itself. Two Suns Shall Enter, Only One Sun Shall Leave. For The Sky Cannot Have Two Suns

Onogoro

The Conquests of Japan and collapse of the Russian Magical Empire should have elevated the Imperial Ministry of Onogoro to astounding heights allowing it to dominate over its mundane cousins behind the scenes. However such hopes have been crushed due to overextension and guerrilla fighting over the newly conquered territories. With its stubborn, weak, overextended, and powerless leadership unable and unwilling to adapt for such a massive undertaking. Dissidents all across the sphere are plotting the demise of the Ministry and their lapdogs. Soon a wreckoning shall come. And only the Kami know if Onogoro will be found wanting.

China

"If and when the war starts, wherever or whoever you are, all have the responsibility to protect our home and repel our enemy, all must have the will to achieve ultimate sacrifice!" Chang Kai Shek.
Decades after the Rape of Nanjing and the subsequent death of Chang Kai-Shek and Mao Zedong, Gao Zongwu stands at the head of a barely legitimate government, forced to be a mere slave to the samurai. His plans for modernizing the Chinese Nation have stalled due to the Dark Kingdom's attacks and increasing discontent from all across china.
Meanwhile in Yunnan Long Yun and his resistance allies have been preparing to coup his traitor brother to save the country. In the hidden corners of China decades of Onogoro mismanagement and tyranny are beginning to boil over with more and more garrisons and camps taken from ailing government. Both mundane and magical forces know that this is the time to strike at last. With Japanese forces being redirected to the Homeland due to the Dark Kingdom. The Yaoguai, Cultivators, Amazons, Magicians, Yokai, the non collaborator Kuomintang and lastly the Communists, have put aside their differences. Forming The Third United Front against the Japanese, all preparing for The Second Northern Expedition. With Ten Thousand Hearts Marching United As One We Shall Win! For China! Death to the Hanjian! Death to the Japanese Imperialists!

Guangdong

"What falls faster, a man or his shares?"
The Three Pearls of Honkon, Koshu, and Makao are currently part of the State of Guangdong a artificial Japanese corporate colonial state meant to serve as the playground for unchecked capitalism in the sphere. Although technically a non partisan administration with the Legislative Council and the Chief Executive as its head, in truth the country is currently run by the 6 Companies. Yotsuba, Matsushita, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Sony, and Chung Kong. The Nature of the state means that corruption, crime and bribes are a common occurrence within the state. the The Fall of the Yasuda Group as caused a massive fall in the Guangdong stock market and economy. Causing it to lose its place amongst the LegCo and the fall of its Chief Executive Suzuki Teiichi. In his place stands the incredibly ambitious Count Yotsuba Seiji. Mainly appointed to exile him from Japan. He has decided to make do with his situation and has plans to drag the Three Pearls kicking and screaming to a more legitimate state with him at its head. With Plans drawn up to get rid of the corruption, inefficiency, and bring workers rights to Guangdong. With this push he has made many enemies and allies in the legislative council and has the local Japanese garrison nervous with his independent streak. Although no one knows the fate of his administration. All agree that Guangdong will be changed one way or another.

The Yotsuba

The Yotsuba and their Zaibatsu have been humiliated, mutilated, their influence and fortunes nearly destroyed due to their perceived disloyalty to the empire due to their anti war stance during the Second World War. However the Yotsuba have struggled on regardless, their spirits strained but not broken, biding their time to enact their vengeance on the families who thought that they could destroy them. His Lordship Count Yotsuba Seiji has made his mission to rebuild the ruins of his family's business empire through hard work, political maneuvering and untapped Chinese industrial might. They have selected Guangdong to be their jewel in this regard. With Seiji being appointed by Emperor Showa to be the State of Guangdong's Chief Executive after the ousting of Chief Executive Suzuki, His Heir and daughter the young Yotsuba Alice has been left with running the affairs of the mainland, A task which she has taken with gusto. Bringing record profits in a Japan hostile to their family's every move. Behind the scenes however she pains at her helplessness as she watches the government destroy Japan, its people, and its fellow members of the Co-Prosperity Sphere. She hopes that perhaps a champion of justice will appear to save Japan, save it from its corrupt and Imperialistic ways. Alas nothing of the sort has appeared...yet.

The Mizunos

In a patriarchal society such as Japan. The Mizunos have often had the glares of many a judgemental passerby. Regardless Saeko and Ami have Ignored such comments. Why would they care, When their achievements have spoken for themselves? Graduating from Tokyo Imperial University Dr. Saeko Mizuno has set forth on bringing radical change in the medical field, earning respect from her peers and even honors from the Emperor himself. Her daughter Ami has taken upon herself to continue this legacy, However she will find that the Universe has even greater plans in store for her..

Rei Hino
Rei Hino problems can be described in one word, politics. While her father continues to fight for the top seat in government she has been set aside. Ignored and Isolated, she can at the very least have some freedom from her father's eyes. However her time in the limelight will come. However it will not be as she so wishes.

Usagi Tsukino
Born to a loving family Usagi Tsukino continues her carefree life as a middle school student. However not all in her life is well and good The Dark Kingdom is attacking in full force and her father has very angry arguments with the authorities over the censorship of the press. but surely those would come to pass, she hopes. Even she knows that the Kempeitai and the Police do not take to those who try to break the status quo...

Ok so I had some inspiration and thought to myself what if the happy and optimistic Usagi Quest was set in the depressing hell that is the TNO universe If you didn't know TNO is a Hoi4 mod where the Axis won ww2. as you can see it got a little out of hand. but its enough that I can put it out partially complete. Anyways what do you think? would like your idea on the fate of the Japanese

thank god this doesn't exist in TNO since Burgundy alone could probably feed like every single magical antagonist in existence due to how fucked up the place is.
I'd have to think about how this timeline's magical factions would interplay with the TNO timeline. Several key magical players would have cause to take an interest in events.

I'll just say burgundian esoteric nazism just got a big boost. not wolfenstein levels of bullshit but certainly up there
How the hell would the occult Nazis be able to conquer the various decent, well-meaning, or at least nationalistic magical factions around the world in this quest if they didn't have Wolfenstein levels of bullshit?

Okay, it's just that there's a lot of complicated 'background' stuff involved in the balance of power and so on, some of it not obvious, so if we were going to get seriously into it, I'd want time to think and to talk to you, y'know?

Another thing I'm a bit unclear on is whether it's a 1962 start or a 1992 start, since obviously TNO has no "canonical" history past 1962, just events that are fairly likely to unfold in ways that may or may not be predictable.
