OMAKE: Speedrunning
While I agree (and now have the Guardian theme playing in my head) I can't help but wonder what a Sailor Moon Speedrun would look like.

Obviously, we'd either need to max our Social Links with the Inners as fast as possible, or we'd need to power level while potentially straight up skipping past having teammates and going for the solo clear

A quick write-up. I can't think of any funny way to continue from here.

All's fair in love and war: gathering the first 4 guardians in 'Senshi of the City':
#Let Tuxedo mask take care of it

Usagi wakes up and immediately runs out the door not bothering to change out of her pajama.
She then trips over Luna in order to trigger the remove bandage cutscene.
Normally this is the moment Usagi has her first school day and picks up the rumors about the jewelry sale.
But what's a school diploma for a queen, so instead Usagi rushes to the arcade to win arcade games and use that money to buy a frisbee and some bird food and then she proceeds to beat sailor V highscore in one go to get the disguise pen. Then she marches home, and ignores her family, in order to get the broach cutscene. Then Sailor Moon immediately grabs the kitty, jumps out the window and goes towards the shrine to have her first talk with Rei early.

But because Rei is normally inside her house at night around she hasn't been recruited yet, and normally Usagi has to first get the follow Rei out of the bus to get attacked by the crows. But the crows will also attack later if Usagi is a trouble maker. So de-transform drop the kitty and throw your frisbee in order to tip over a trashcan. This makes Rei come out of the house to call to exorcise the 'evil spirit' After which Rei apologizes for her murder of two crows attacking you. Usagi then grabs the bird food she bought earlier and throws it in front of Rei in order to compensate for the affection loss caused by tipping over the trashcan. Then she proceeds to take a step forward drop a one liner and turn 180 degrees to takes the bus that she can now use due to sequence break.

Then the next day Usagi will actually go to school, but not to study because listening to someone unlock the hospital early so that you can get some early mercury wooing done heal Naru who was saved by a mysterious stranger and talk to Ami for the first time in order to get the Int-up disks.

Then she ignores school again and makes a stop at the arcade to earn enough to buy a book on the way to the hospital. Where she flirts with Ami because a high enough affection rating will allow Usagi to to push her homework on Ami. Naru gets healed by a mysterious visitor because Usagi's in the hospital anyway. Usagi doesn't need to interact with Naru again until after she throws herself before a car, on the way to school to meet Makato for the first time at the start of the bridal arc.
Makato will have an alternate scene, because Usaginator has still not bothered to change get out of her Pajamas.

Then after Usagi met Makato she goes to the Crystal Seminar to get Mercury, but ignores the Youma because she still needs to take the 6 PM bus to get Rei and get Makato after that.

After gathering the first 4 guardians Minako will show up the next day.
But that's tomorow and if she jumps into the ocean Usagi can cheat herself to the South pole right now!

A Meeting
So, since CLAMP hasn't been included in the quest canon (yet), I've decided to write an omake, one specifically based around the manga Tokyo Babylon and taking place shortly after its epilogue.
I hope you enjoy this.

Director Samui could swear her coffee was looking at her weirdly.
It didn't have eyes, she knew this, but it still felt like it was watching her.
Focus.
Focus.
She shook her head a little, hoping to clear her mind. There was just so much work.
The raid on the Night Market had only been two weeks ago and there was still so much to fix from it; everything from arranging medical care to assuring security for the merchants.
And now the Senshi had found a major base of Cendrillon's, which was both wonderful, as they'd either be capturing her or thoroughly wrecking her operations come Monday, and also was something she wished her own agents had done themselves; the Senshi seemed to double in influence and power every week.
Well, the base being found was a good thing; the attacks would stop ! There'd be more time for dealing with Ongoro ! The Diet would be much less likely to suddenly cancel MCAT's funding.
Oh, and there was Fudo Kazanari to placate at every turn.
Fuck him, honestly.

Ten minutes later, the paperwork wasn't finished, but she'd splashed some water on her face, drunk the coffee that had not been staring at her, and felt ready to take on the world as she dialed in the number.
The Sumeragi clan, based in Kyoto and known for churning out talented onmyouji, were one of the very, very few magical organizations in Japan that were not entirely under the control of the Imperial Ministry, for reasons vague and ranging from latent loyalty to the "mainstream" Imperial line, to supposedly preparing for a prophesied apocalypse completely unrelated to the Dawn of Fire.
And whatever the rumors said, a contact at the Ise Shrine had passed along a message to the former clan Head, who had arranged a meeting over the phone about hiring some members of the clan as consultants and other miscellaneous things.

It was a pity, though, that the current leader of the clan, despite seemingly living in Tokyo, had been thoroughly unfindable so far.

Lady Sumeragi proved to be quite courteous; they discussed consultants, teaching classes, the possibility of the Clan helping out with their exorcism research, and Samui felt reasonably sure she wouldn't sell every bit of information she got to Onogoro.

-" Thank you for your assistance, Lady Sumeragi. MCAT is grateful for your help."

There was a very, very long pause.

The panicked, extremely irrational thought of Lady Sumeragi having had a sudden stroke tried to worm its way through Samui's head, only to be thankfully set upon by the slightly saner parts of her brain, who reminded her that being worried about things all the time wouldn't fix them.

-"It saddens me to say so, but few of the Sumeragi Clan live or operate near Tokyo, and it would take weeks for schedules to be rearranged. The 13th clan head, however, while occupied by a number of confidential projects, lives in Shinjuku: I'm sending you his address via fax. I've talked to him already, but it would be best if you were to send some of your agents to espouse the good that can be done by working with you."

-"Well, alright"

She grabbed the fax, told Azumi to take Sho to go meet the guy and then went back to purchasing materials for the special ammo they'd need for the raid.

Azumi wished, a little bit, that she hadn't been sent on this mission. She'd gotten too used to the air conditioning in the apartments and the MCAT building; she'd lived through far worse summers in Kagoshima.
She wanted to kick herself in the head for that thought. First, she messes up who knows how many phone calls, then she spends her time blustering through the job interviews, and now she's thinking about ditching work because of the heat.
You don't get anything in this world if you don't work hard for it.

-"So, I had this weird dream last night. I think it was about a box or something, but I can't remember most of it, and I was hoping to bounce ideas off you so I could remember more."

Sho was smiling at her softly, and she was pretty sure he'd still be smiling once she failed to answer the question correctly.
-"Oh, a box, don't trip on your words, don't go "um", do you remember if it had anything in it ? Maybe something special, like jewelry or a present or something ? Or the box had some decorations on it, if it's the only thing about your dream you remember it must have stood out to you."
Sho blinked.
-"Well, now that you've mentioned it, there was paper ? With stuff written on it and it was all different things but actually all the papers in the box put all together formed a unified idea and you know that reminds me of the literary classes I took in high school where you see how a phrase can mean a lot of things beyond the surface level and there was this great text we studied-"

Allmother, what was she supposed to say ? She didn't understand anything he was saying, and it was basic stuff, his words implied, the stuff every high school graduate kn-

Wait. The Allmother was there now, she'd forgotten about it, and she'd just used her name in a swear. This was bad, bad, she'd have to bring her a gift basket to make up for it and no it wouldn't be enough, it was a gift basket and the Allmother was a goddess, mother of all Youkai, and more importantly a very important ally to MCAT and oh god why did she have to ruin everything she was so-

-"We're here."

Oh no, they'd somehow gotten into the building and climbed up the stairs and were now in front of the door and she'd been too distracted to notice any of that.

She did her best to compose herself as Sho ran the doorbell. Don't panic, don't panic…

The Sumeragi head wasn't what she had expected.
She'd been expecting someone stiff and serious, maybe with glasses, and he kind of was like that, except he was also really, really cute, and his eyes were…
She knew it was rude not to look people in the eye, but in this case, she definitely didn't want to.

-"Who are you ?"

A smile on her face, she faced him in a manner she hoped was friendly and open: "We're
from MCAT, your grandmother said she talked to you about it on the phone. I'm Secretary Kogoerukaze and this is Liaison Daitoku !"

He just stared at her.

-"I'm sorry. I have several personal projects currently ongoing on top of my regular work, and I don't think I'll be of much help anyway. I can't work with you."

Huh ?

-"Well, it's a shame; we could really use someone like you. Can't you at least hear us out a bit ? Things might be better than you think they are."

Without a word, he gestured at them to enter.

The living room wasn't much, really.
There was a coffee table, a sofa, two armchairs and pale patches where there used to be pictures.
She took the sofa, Sho sat on one of the armchairs and the Sumeragi head on the other.
-"So, what are the benefits of working with MCAT ? First, there's full medical and dental insurance, as well as a cushy pension, and also there's-"
She talked and talked and talked, and his expression barely changed through the whole thing.
Uhh, the heat was so bad; she felt like she was going to be sick.
-"To be honest, we really need more professional talent concerning exorcism, there's this ritual the Senshi used that several temples's worth of Buddhist monks haven't been able to replicate and-"
Maybe it was the heat, maybe the fact she'd been talking for fifteen minutes straight without a drink of water, but for a second her headache twinged worse than ever and her stomach churned and she nearly retched but they didn't notice that, right ?

Oh. His expression had changed.
He now looked worringly concerned.

-"Mr. Daitoku, Ms. Kogoerukaze, I'm afraid I've been a terrible host. I had some kakigori in the fridge, but even though I knew you were coming, I forgot to prepare it. Please allow me to rectify my mistake. If you wish to use the bathroom during the meantime, it's at the end of the hallway on the left."
She wanted to hide under a rock. A nice, cool rock where nobody would be able to find her and see her shame.

-"It's okay, Azumi. Splashing some cold water on your face won't hurt."

Well, if Sho was saying it and seemed to think it wasn't rude…

She got up perhaps a tad fast and walked as fast as she could, but didn't run because that would be unladylike.

Finally, fresh water, a drink, I'll no longer feel like a boiled lobster, she thought as she triumphantly oprened the bathroom door.

Oops. Wrong room.
The bedroom was nearly as sparse and empty as the living-room: bed, cupboard, full-length mirror with its glass lying shattered on the ground.

The shards had been sitting there for awhile, covered in dust as they were, and bits of color glinted in the few pieces that still lay in the frame.

She hadn't seen it when she first came in, lining the wall as it did, but there was a desk, covered in papers and bottles of ink and at least three maps of Tokyo with angry red scratchings on them.

It was the only thing so far in this house that had felt alive.

in the middle of the desk, there was a rashinban, newly made. In the middle of it was…

That couldn't be right. The pink things in the jar looked all the world like cherry blossoms, but they reminded her of the glass bowl which had been brought in last week, one which had been used by an Ongoro mage to store the blood of youkai for spell components.

The pink things felt worse, somehow.

He probably had a good reason for having that, right ? Maybe it was just a plant he'd cursed or something.
Or he was secretly a serial killer and his grandmother had sent them into a trap because she hated MCAT or something.

Well, she wasn't going to fall for that.

She picked it up, gingerly looked at it and then heard a crash coming from somewhere else in the house followed by rapid footsteps.

The Sumeragi head, wide-eyed, looked at her through the door.

-"I'm sorry, I'm going to have to ask you to leave."

-"Wait, she said as he opened the door, what the hell is that thing ?"

-"Oh, you need to give that back, I need it."
-"Uh, no. I have no idea what you're doing with that thing but it doesn't look good, and it's literally my job to take care of things like that." Well, she was technically part of the PR department but he didn't need to know that.
-"Sho, tell him we need to pass that thing through safety regulations at the very least."
-"Yes, we do need to do that."

`-"I was using it as part of a divining ritual. Do you really need to take it?"
Well, it wasn't really her job, but she was still a member of MCAT and MCAT does things like that, so it should be alright."
-"You're really sure ?"
-"YES."
He sighed, closing his eyes.
-"Just be careful."
He shut the door on her and Sho.

-"Well, we need to bring this back to MCAT. I'll also tell the Director how the interview went", Azumi said as they got on the train home.
Tell the Director how things went, tell the Director how things went…

Hadn't she completely failed at her actual mission ?
She felt like she was shriveling up just thinking about it. She couldn't go to MCAT or to the home she shared with the other clan members
-"Hey, Sho, do you know a good hotel nearby ? Don't tremble voice, don't tremble. "It's kinda urgent."

-"Why ?"
-"I can't go home, I just failed at something big, and look, it's bad. I've disappointed Director Samui."

Sho was about to say that Director Samui probably wouldn't mind all that, but he felt Azumi wouldn't believe him.
-"You don't need a hotel: I have a spare bed at my place that I use for camping, and there's udon I made yesterday that I can't finish before it goes bad, so really you'll be the one doing me a favor. And I've been buying ingredients for spellcraft so we can do the anlysis at home !"

She seemed slightly mollified by that, and brightened up when she saw the air conditioning.

While he was preparing the ingredients for the scrying spell they would do on the jar, he saw her switch on the air conditioner, then lie down on the rug in front of it before checking that nobody saw her. That made him smile.

-"So, I poured the vervain and briar ashes in the spring water, and you have the circle thing, right ?"
-"Technically it's an engraved piece of bone, but yes."
The circle thing was put at the bottom of the bowl, a pinch of the petals from the jar was added, and Azumi muttered a longish incantation which set the water to bubbling.

And then the water changed to a red, slightly sticky-looking substance, which they recognized immediately.

-"Okay, we definitely need to talk to that guy."

Azumi had argued half heartedly about accompanying him, but the air felt like hot tar and she'd decided to stay home in the end in case the jar turned out to be a demon-summoning portal or something.

At least he didn't have to climb up a bunch of stairs, because the Sumeragi head seemed to be making a quick beeline towards the train station.
-"Hey, you ! I really need to talk to you right now !"
-"I'm on my way to a job in Ginza."

-"I have a few questions, and you really can't just get up and leave right now because if I'm getting my head bitten off by a demon, I'm blaming it on you."
He sighed.
-"Fine."
-"What was that thing Icewind picked up ? I ran it through a scrying ritual and those things turned the water into blood."
-"I picked them up at Ueno Park, if you have to know. They're not cursed, but there's a chance that you might get killed if you really did do a divination on them. You should probably give them to your boss and also change flats. And maybe spend a few days at your workplace if they have decent wards and security. Also, take this."
He handed Sho two ornately inked ofuda.
-"What the hell were you using that for ?"
, -"A tracking spell. It probably wouldn't have worked anyway."
For what ?
-"So, I gather you're not going to be working with MCAT."
-"I've told you, I don't think I'll be of much help."
They stood there in awkward silence for a few seconds.

Then, he said:

-"Why do you think people hurt others ?"

Sho blinked.
-"What ?"
-"Nothing. It's nothing. Just something someone said…"
-"Who ?" To be honest, Sumeragi didn't seem like the most sociable of people.

-"It was a little girl."
-"A girl ?"

-"She's gone now. She said that maybe, just maybe, everyone who did bad things were just lonely. Even those that treated others as extensions of themselves, so that they would feel no pain in hurting them."

Sho thought of the raid on the Night Market, of the slaves that MCAT rescued more of every day, of the youma for whom humans were cattle.
-"That may be true for some, but others, even most… They don't care at all. They crush people under their feet and think nothing of it."

-"I suppose you are correct"
His voice was soft and resigned.

-"I'm sorry for bothering you.
I think I'll have to go now if I don't want to be late."

-"So, what do you think was that guy's deal ? I thought using the entrails of animals went out of fashion a couple of centuries ago." Sho yawned as they walked into MCAT headquarters the next morning.
-"I don't know, we should give the jar to Doctor Sakurai before we go to talk to him again, and that last bit's probably not our job anyway.
The pair stopped.
There, sitting on the bench next to Director Samui's office, was the man they had met yesterday.

-"I'm glad you're alright."
Edit: I've changed bits of Subaru's caracterisation, as I made him act vastly more jerkish than he ever does in canon, and Sho's been changed from Agent to Liaison because that's not what people who aren't in the field are called. Azumi's last name has been changed from Icewind to Kogoerukaze thanks to advice from Discord.

Noncanon: Usagi in TNO

What if Usagi Quest Was Set in The TNOverse Part 1

With the triumph of the Axis over the Allies with the Atomic Bombing of Hawaii, An New Order has descended across the world. In the place of the Union Jack and the Hammer. The Swastika and the Rising Sun have taken their place Hegemon's of the world. However as the Germans celebrate their landing on the moon and the Japanese and Americans Stare each other down. They will find that old enemies await them. And one girl that will fundamentally change the world.

Japan

"The fruits of victory are tumbling into our mouths too quickly." Emperor Hirohito
The Sun Never Sets in the Japanese Empire, or at least perhaps not yet. From the distant lands of india and the shores of the Treaty Ports of San Francisco the Japanese hold the largest Empire on Earth. With Imperial Japanese Army Being the Sword and Shield the Emperor's realm. Although not all is good in the empire. Foreign terrorists and traitors calling themselves the Dark Kingdom have been striking at Japanese Citizens. With the Police Bureau or the Kempeitai Secret Police unable to act against them. The Attacks and the Yasuda Groups Collapse have forced the Taisei Yokusankai into trying to select a new Prime Minister, however such efforts are stalled due to bickering and factionalism. Meanwhile China plots and prepares for a war. A war that will decide the fate of Asia Itself. Two Suns Shall Enter, Only One Sun Shall Leave. For The Sky Cannot Have Two Suns

Onogoro

The Conquests of Japan and collapse of the Russian Magical Empire should have elevated the Imperial Ministry of Onogoro to astounding heights allowing it to dominate over its mundane cousins behind the scenes. However such hopes have been crushed due to overextension and guerrilla fighting over the newly conquered territories. With its stubborn, weak, overextended, and powerless leadership unable and unwilling to adapt for such a massive undertaking. Dissidents all across the sphere are plotting the demise of the Ministry and their lapdogs. Soon a wreckoning shall come. And only the Kami know if Onogoro will be found wanting.

China

"If and when the war starts, wherever or whoever you are, all have the responsibility to protect our home and repel our enemy, all must have the will to achieve ultimate sacrifice!" Chang Kai Shek.
Decades after the Rape of Nanjing and the subsequent death of Chang Kai-Shek and Mao Zedong, Gao Zongwu stands at the head of a barely legitimate government, forced to be a mere slave to the samurai. His plans for modernizing the Chinese Nation have stalled due to the Dark Kingdom's attacks and increasing discontent from all across china.
Meanwhile in Yunnan Long Yun and his resistance allies have been preparing to coup his traitor brother to save the country. In the hidden corners of China decades of Onogoro mismanagement and tyranny are beginning to boil over with more and more garrisons and camps taken from ailing government. Both mundane and magical forces know that this is the time to strike at last. With Japanese forces being redirected to the Homeland due to the Dark Kingdom. The Yaoguai, Cultivators, Amazons, Magicians, Yokai, the non collaborator Kuomintang and lastly the Communists, have put aside their differences. Forming The Third United Front against the Japanese, all preparing for The Second Northern Expedition. With Ten Thousand Hearts Marching United As One We Shall Win! For China! Death to the Hanjian! Death to the Japanese Imperialists!

Guangdong

"What falls faster, a man or his shares?"
The Three Pearls of Honkon, Koshu, and Makao are currently part of the State of Guangdong a artificial Japanese corporate colonial state meant to serve as the playground for unchecked capitalism in the sphere. Although technically a non partisan administration with the Legislative Council and the Chief Executive as its head, in truth the country is currently run by the 6 Companies. Yotsuba, Matsushita, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Sony, and Chung Kong. The Nature of the state means that corruption, crime and bribes are a common occurrence within the state. the The Fall of the Yasuda Group as caused a massive fall in the Guangdong stock market and economy. Causing it to lose its place amongst the LegCo and the fall of its Chief Executive Suzuki Teiichi. In his place stands the incredibly ambitious Count Yotsuba Seiji. Mainly appointed to exile him from Japan. He has decided to make do with his situation and has plans to drag the Three Pearls kicking and screaming to a more legitimate state with him at its head. With Plans drawn up to get rid of the corruption, inefficiency, and bring workers rights to Guangdong. With this push he has made many enemies and allies in the legislative council and has the local Japanese garrison nervous with his independent streak. Although no one knows the fate of his administration. All agree that Guangdong will be changed one way or another.

The Yotsuba

The Yotsuba and their Zaibatsu have been humiliated, mutilated, their influence and fortunes nearly destroyed due to their perceived disloyalty to the empire due to their anti war stance during the Second World War. However the Yotsuba have struggled on regardless, their spirits strained but not broken, biding their time to enact their vengeance on the families who thought that they could destroy them. His Lordship Count Yotsuba Seiji has made his mission to rebuild the ruins of his family's business empire through hard work, political maneuvering and untapped Chinese industrial might. They have selected Guangdong to be their jewel in this regard. With Seiji being appointed by Emperor Showa to be the State of Guangdong's Chief Executive after the ousting of Chief Executive Suzuki, His Heir and daughter the young Yotsuba Alice has been left with running the affairs of the mainland, A task which she has taken with gusto. Bringing record profits in a Japan hostile to their family's every move. Behind the scenes however she pains at her helplessness as she watches the government destroy Japan, its people, and its fellow members of the Co-Prosperity Sphere. She hopes that perhaps a champion of justice will appear to save Japan, save it from its corrupt and Imperialistic ways. Alas nothing of the sort has appeared...yet.

The Mizunos

In a patriarchal society such as Japan. The Mizunos have often had the glares of many a judgemental passerby. Regardless Saeko and Ami have Ignored such comments. Why would they care, When their achievements have spoken for themselves? Graduating from Tokyo Imperial University Dr. Saeko Mizuno has set forth on bringing radical change in the medical field, earning respect from her peers and even honors from the Emperor himself. Her daughter Ami has taken upon herself to continue this legacy, However she will find that the Universe has even greater plans in store for her..

Rei Hino
Rei Hino problems can be described in one word, politics. While her father continues to fight for the top seat in government she has been set aside. Ignored and Isolated, she can at the very least have some freedom from her father's eyes. However her time in the limelight will come. However it will not be as she so wishes.

Usagi Tsukino
Born to a loving family Usagi Tsukino continues her carefree life as a middle school student. However not all in her life is well and good The Dark Kingdom is attacking in full force and her father has very angry arguments with the authorities over the censorship of the press. but surely those would come to pass, she hopes. Even she knows that the Kempeitai and the Police do not take to those who try to break the status quo...

Ok so I had some inspiration and thought to myself what if the happy and optimistic Usagi Quest was set in the depressing hell that is the TNO universe If you didn't know TNO is a Hoi4 mod where the Axis won ww2. as you can see it got a little out of hand. but its enough that I can put it out partially complete. Anyways what do you think? would like your idea on the fate of the Japanese

Mercury Academy Traditions Part 4: The Cryogenic Pod Expansion Thesis
I'm guessing that the bunker itself may be perfectly habitable, but the question is how comfortable is thar habitation, and for how many? How intact are their labs? Hydroponics? Non-cryogenic living quarters?

...Had this weird snippet pop into my head. It's probably apocrypha, but I'll type it anyway.

Mercury Academy Traditions
Part 4: The Cryogenic Pod Expansion Thesis

The graduate program of Mercury Academy helps prepare its students to be the best and brightest of their generation, with their theses covering all manner of subjects. However, every few years, some professor will challenge a particularly bright group of students to consider a challenge of ever increasing difficulty: designing a new addition (or an appropriate retrofit) of the Cryogenic Pod system kept on campus. To those brave souls who rise to the occasion, there are several key aspects that are usually emphasized.
  • Utility: While some allotements and allowances for maintaining the system are expanded over time, space and energy are always at a premium. Any new additions need to properly earn their place amongst the already approved modules, standing out for either survival needs, research purposes, or morale. Niche uses and interests are discouraged; there's no telling who would end up having to use these pods in an emergency, so it must be deemed useful for both the highest professors in their field and some poor tourist who came for a visit on the worst day ever.
  • Compatibility with prior systems: If a new energy-intensive entertainment module could cause the air filtration system to fail, then you have doomed the supposed survivors to a slow, painful death by suffocation. The students must carefully review the notes and schematics provided for the previously installed modules to ensure that the system will work in harmony with the work of graduate students of the past (and potentially modify their own designs to help facilitate the modules that will be installed in the future).
  • Sustainability: The new modules are theoretically supposed to withstand drastic environmental forces, remain in storage for several millenia, and provide for the awakened users for up to a year before being "rescued" by the rebuilding Silver Millennium. As such, the proposed additions ususally require running some of the more extreme simulation conditions in the lab in order to ensure that the supposed survivors will actually be able to make use of the modules after the crisis has ended.
...Of course, over time an urban legend has formed regarding the supposed "Phantom Commitee Member". Graduate students are usually well aware of the faculty members who will be reviewing their theses, with frequent updates throughout the semester to ensure that the work is on track. However, every once in a while, a faculty member will state that a student's work is all but complete, and then the next day contact the student with an additional note regarding a factor of safety or edge condition that the student should account for before the thesis is submitted. These "surprise comments" are always relevant to the professor's field, but sometimes seem to be a bit... off from the professor's usual outlook and concerns (i.e. a professor who is a supporter of advanced encrypted interstellar communications suddenly asking students to consider if the Moon Palace was somehow reduced to being unable to receive anything more complicated than radio waves). These incidents have led gossiping students to speculate that there is some additional anonymous reviewer of their work feeding suggestions to their professors, but there has been no substantial proof of this.

In the end, a new hallmark of magical technology is added to the Cryogenic Pod system. Nowadays, the facility is usually shown off to visitors as a sort of gallery of the excellence and ingenuity of its students, which remains far more relevant than whatever politics or fearmongering lead to the mandate to install the original Cryogenic Pods so long ago. Still, the students and faculty are drilled a few times a year regarding where to find and activate the Pods in case of an emergency.

Noncanon: A Spy
Spy

Mistress Sato sighed. A spy in her classroom? Who would waste placing a spy at this level? They'd have to be both intelligent and cunning whilst being incredibly dense - almost mono-focused. This was not the person she was expecting. Still as said, there was a difference between a spy and an asset. And while one was likely an asset for the terrorists she was not the spy. However this person being the spy made no sense. Yes, she fit the profile, but why would someone from that family ever do that?

This did explain a lot of Stallion's odd moves. A mix between incredible brilliance and utter stupidity. But why and how? What made her deviate from the truth? Mistress Sato then look at who the girl was spying for. That would make sense. Not a spy for any any of the yokai or the any of the terrorist groups themselves, but the cult instead. It had been believed to be less dangerous because doom-sayers always exist. But with how things were, a greater recruitment and danger would naturally occur. So Cult of Dawn or Cult of Fire?

Officially she hoped for the Cult of Dawn, but it would be easier to deal with if she was in the Cult of Fire.

Mistress Sato spoke up. "I am sorry to block you all from leaving. But There is a spy in one of the teams."

Team stallion grinned. Then Mistress Sato shook her head sadly. "I'm afraid while Team Lion has certain sympathies, they are not the people who have been penetrated. You have, Team Stallion. At first it didn't seem like your team, Kia, but then I realised something. Your recent moves have been a mix of utter genius and incredible density. You have been manipulated with consummate skill by a traitor. Still it's not as bad as it could have been. When did you join the Phoenix Cult, Sakiko?"

"The Phoenix cult?" Sakiko asked completely clueless.

Mistress Sato sighed. "The Cult of Dawn, or the Cult of Fire."

"Oh. I see what you mean. I joined the other branch. The very small one, you know. It seemed the most accurate to the truth. But what on Earth makes you think I'm spying for them?"

"The attack on the Yotsuba group. Encountering white Meteor. All were carefully tipped from the original plans by you. Oh you never actually officially gave the ideas, but a small slip of the tongue, got your team pointing in the direction you wanted. By reporting certain things or not reporting them. It seems odd that you didn't alter which plants were listening froim daffodils, once you knew the enemy knew. But if you did you could still hear plans and guide your team."

Mistress Sato noticed as Yukiko seemed to conspicuously not move her hand towards her sword but stopped. Why would Yukiko be doing that? Unless -Oh.

"Whose life did you take, Sakiko? The only reason a Shadow Mage would be reacting like that is if you are a dark Mage."

"No-ones." Sakiko stated. "Or possibly mine, depending on how you look at it. I gained past life memories."

"You'd be in a monastery. We can detect past life memories."

"Oh, you'd certainly detect them If I gained them from this world's past. But I gained them from an alternate future. Team Stallion died on their frame job against Team Lion, so Team Lion was executed. You needed someone to blame. But I redirected them from the very dangerous Dark Kingdom to the mostly harmless Yotsuba group, where hopefully they'd be caught and just given a community service and some scrubbing while learning the truth. Unfortunately they were too skilled to be caught."

"Memory alteration?" everyone else panicked.

"I just meant cleaning off the graffiti they caused." Sakiko stated. Nobody believed her (In her mind 7 mini-Sakiko's sighed.) "So next plan get in good with someone who did need our help. White Meteor. We could be helpful. Show that we were useful. Until the ministry almost ruined that as well. Though the Oni fortress changing sides was a surprise to me."

"You should have spotted Sakiko's change of fate." Mistress Sato complained

"Sakiko didn't alter fate. It's just that she can sometimes adjust certain details."

"Think of it as a Visual Novel. I can sometimes change outcomes but not the events themselves . Team Stallion was still caught by a dangerous magical community. The member of Lion who was escaped being killed by by going native in the Yotsuba group is still there. A bit later than originally happened, and not so native."

Mistress Sato barely moved before a swirling black mass erupted from Sakiko's shadow blocking her way before forming into a dog-like shape changing from wolf to a puppy and back with rapidity until it seemed to settle as a Grim. While Shadowy tentacles surrounded Sakiko.

"I recognise that Dark Familiar. It should be collared. The only way it can't be..." Yukiko looked astonished. "Tears of a Phoenix. Rebirth through their own death. The Moon prophecy is obvious now we think about it. But I can't see the Senshi freeing so many yokai so quickly by that method. They're far too busy to do that."

"Oh, from what I remember they hadn't worked out the Tears of the Phoenix yet in the original time-line." Sakiko stated only to get yelled at by two of the mini Sakiko's inside her head. "But they probably have now. After all the capture of the market happened a lot earlier, here."

The Dark familiar shifted and breathed Shadow-flame destroying a wall before catching the now very sleepy Sakiko and carrying her off through it.

Later that night.

"Mom, something weird happened at class. "Sakiko turned out to be part of the Phoenix Cult."

"Sakiko?" Yukiko's mother sighed. "She's quite sweet when you can finally get her to stop being all insufferably noble. How did anyone manage to get that important information into the idiots head?"

"Weirdly she had a past life, but from an alternate future. and had manipulated Team Stallion."

"Probably by little nudges here and there that she likely never realised she made. Sakiko is very dense and over does every thing she commits too. Not stupid but dense. There is a difference."

Noncanon? : Contemplation
Omake time.

So, this is entirely unprompted. I have not consulted with anyone over if this scene is canon compliant or not. This is entirely my brain running off on a tangent and having some version of this or other running through it every time Shinju's Crystal Millennium arc comes up ever since the first time I realized she would be stepping foot on the moon sooner or later. This takes place at no determined time within the greater scope of the Quest other than potentially "sometime maybe yet to be".

Contemplation

Shinju staired up at the Earth.

...

And wasn't that a thought. The Earth.

It was sobering, in a way.

This was hardly the first time she had come up to the Moon Palace to fetch something for Artemis Sensei. It also wasn't the first time she had seen the Earth from the Moon.

It was, however, the first time she had made a detour to see the palace gardens, and something about how the planet above was framed by the trees and paths leading up to the hill at the other end, no glass or crystal or anything physical between her and the great expanse of black and stars and the Milky Way Galaxy above hit differently than seeing it hanging above an endless expanse of grey through a window.

The Senshi were surprisingly open about security up here. They trusted "Akiza Ano" enough to allow her up unsupervised, and there were only a few places where the doors were locked to keep her out...

Still...

Her attention momentarily drifted down from the blue marble of the Earth hanging above her, to the crystal tomb under the great tree on the hill at the other end of the gardens, and the silver haired woman in the center.

Princess Serenity.

Sailor Moon.

Despite the silver hair rather than blond, she could practically feel it in her Soul that they were one and the same.

She remembered back to that first conversation she had with Artemis Sensei when he accepted her as an assistant, and the statement that some of the Senshi "May-or-may-not" be reincarnated from this ancient civilization. She also remembered Mistress Sato, on receiving her report, declaring it imperative that she find out and report which of the Senshi were reincarnated if she could do so safely. Sure, there were other Senshi entombed here too, but Sailor Moon was their leader and likely of greatest concern to Onogoro...

And yet...

She looked back up to the Earth, as her mind drifted back to that plain of grey dust seen through so many of the palace's windows that stretched out to the horizon...

And the hundreds of bodies of all shapes and sizes draped in white sheets that she had seen placed in neat rows in the vacuum just outside of the protections of the palace so they wouldn't rot and decay before their last rites could be properly arranged...

It was all so... small, she thought, reaching her hand up so it looked like she was cupping the Earth. She could even see the island of Japan from where she sat. With a strong enough telescope she bet she could see her house from here. That realization only served to drive the thought home even further.

The world. Her entire world. Everything she had ever known and dreamed was up there, on that blue marble. It was all suddenly so much larger and also smaller than she ever thought it could be...

And it was all in danger from forces that the governments, magical and mundane, could only scarcely begin to contemplate.

And here she sat, on a bench, on the Moon, with nothing but open starry space above her, spying on the few people who actually understood that danger. They'd died fighting it to give everyone else a chance. A chance to rebuild. A chance to learn. A chance to grow.

And what had they done with that chance? Shinju clenched her fist, blocking out her sight of the Earth as she frowned at the thought.

They had rebuilt, sure, but they fought each other too. They cheated one another, and stabbed eachother in the back over what now felt like such petty reasons...

With a sigh, Shinju lowered her hand and turned around to get back to work, but not without one last glance at the Earth before she entered the doors.

Akiz-

No...

Shinju. Yes. Shinju still had to retrieve the telemetry data Artemis had asked her to get, and then probably have one of the hardest conversations she would have in her entire life...

Reconciliation and Remembrance
Reconciliation and Remembrance

Haruka and Michiru were resting in the mansion belonging to Michiru's parents when they heard a knock at the front door.

"I'll get it." said Michiru as she got up and walked to the door and opened it. "Haruka, it's for you."

Haruka got up and walked over there to see a tall woman with a sharp angular face, light blonde hair, and piercing blue eyes dressed in a flower kimono. "Haruka, it's good to see you again." Said the woman.

Haruka glared at the woman and said, "What are you doing here Mom? I don't think Dad would be happy about you being here after he disowned me." Michiru gained astern look towards the woman when she heard that.

The woman, Haruka's mother, sighed, "While I do love him, I do admit you father is a short-sighted idiot. Besides, he doesn't know I'm here and if he finds out, so what? He doesn't control me."

Haruka scoffed, "Sure seemed that way growing up."

Haruka's mother sighed, "It wasn't until the decision to disown you he did anything I vehemently disagreed with. And for such a stupid reason too. 'Women loving each other is unnatural' bullshit, I've had my share of female lovers in my time. I really let him have it after you stormed out. "Michiru's gaze then softened as she heard that.

Haruka balked at that, "Wait, your Bi? And if you tore into Dad after I left then why did you wait so long to contact me?"

"Yes I'm Bi," Haruka's mother said, "And I had two reasons for waiting so long. First I wanted you to cool down, I know you can stay angry for quite a while. Second, the reason that prompted my visit didn't exist."

"So why did you come?" Haruka asked.

"First off, I wanted to meet the young lady who had stolen your heart. I can see why you love her so, such a beauty." Haruka's mother said causing Michiru to blush and Haruka to chuckle.

"Her looks aren't the only reason I am attracted to her." Haruka said. Michiru placed a kiss on Haruka's cheek for that.

"I know but they probably helped kick things off." Haruka's mother said. "The Second reason is all of this news going on about the DK Gang and Youkai and Monsters running around. I'm worried for your safety."

Haruka grimaced, "Mom I can take care of myself."

"Maybe after some training. "Haruka's mother said. "We lived in a time of peace, so there wasn't much reason to teach you, but now there is. Come follow me, I booked us a sparring room over at the Crystal Millennium."

Haruka looked shocked at that and said, "Umm, I probably should tell you that I work at the Crystal Millennium."

Her mother raised an eyebrow at that. "Well, I promise not to embarrass you in front of your co-workers. Now let's get going." She said.

Haruka and her mother stood off in one of the unused rooms on the 6th floor. Michiru was there to give her girlfriend support. And a few employees decided to come and watch. "So, I didn't know you knew how to fight." Haruka said.

"I had an entire life your father doesn't know about. It wasn't relevant before." Her mom replied as she put her long hair up in a ponytail, "Though considering the dangers I'll probably be coming out of retirement."

"Out of retirement? What did you do?" Haruka asked as her mom took off her kimono revealing a light blue bodysuit with futuristic looking heels.

"I was a Bounty Hunter." Her mom replied. "Now get ready." She said right before she rushed at Haruka with surprising speed.

Haruka was taken aback and barely got a block up in time to stop her mom from hitting her in the face with a side kick. 'So fast!' Haruka thought as she launched a punch of her own that her mother dodged, then grabbed her arm and threw her to the ground. She quickly kipped up from that and rushed at her mom and threw a flurry of punches and kicks, most of which were dodged or blocked. She did score some hits, but they didn't do much. 'How?' Haruka thought.

Her mother chuckled, "It's nice to finally get that rust removed. I have been out of practice for so long." Her expression darkened. "I won't lose another daughter."

Haruka and Michiru looked shocked, "I have a big sister?"

"Had." replied her mother, "Died long before I met your father. I may decide to tell you the story sometime." Haruka's mom then rushed at Haruka again and launched her own flurry of punches and kicks, many of which got through Haruka's guard. The flurry ended with an uppercut that launched Haruka off the ground. She fell back onto the ground in a heap dazed. "Looks like there's still a lot I have to teach you." Haruka's mom said, though as Haruka got back up, she added, "Tougher than I thought, though. Good. Still that's enough for the spar."

Haruka nodded still a little dazed from that. "You're a lot stronger than I thought Mom. Where did you learn to fight like that?"

"My adopted family, who took me in after my parents were killed." Haruka's Mom replied. "Anyways, next is time for some Meditation." She said as she sat on the ground in a lotus position and patted the ground next to her, indicating for Haruka to sit there. The Employees started to file out now that the combat was over. Some started gushing about how cool Mrs. Tennou was.

"Alright." Haruka said and sat next to her mother. Both fell into a meditative trance for a while, Michiru keeping watch over them.

After the period of meditation, which lasted about 3 hours, Haruka and her mom were talking back at Michiru's house. "So, about my big sister." Haruka said.

Her mom sighed. "She wasn't my biological child but adopted. I found her as a baby when I was hired to eliminate a group of biological weapons who could drain the life out of sentient beings. "Haruka looked startled and Michiru gasped at that, 'Mom took on Youma?'

"I did my mission and eliminated them all, all except for a newborn. From how she acted it was clear she saw me as her mom, and I just couldn't kill her. I didn't have the heart to do it." Haruka's mom continued as a tear fell from her eye, "I took her and brought her to a group of scientists to make sure she would be taken care of, since it would be kind of irresponsible to take a baby with me on missions. I always visited between missions, even gave her a name, Ripley, and things were fine for a while, then it happened. A group of terrorists attacked the lab, the same group that killed my birth parents, and slaughtered the scientists and kidnapped Ripley. I was furious and when I got there, I was too slow to stop the commander of the group, Ridley, from kidnapping Ripley. And yes, I know the irony in their names being only one letter different. I chased them to their base, which was the same place where I grew up after my birth parents died. Those assholes had taken it over. It took a while, but I was able to fight and kill Ridley, though that bastard never stays dead, cybernetic enhancements, clones, etc." Haruka's mom slams her fist on the table at that.

"Sorry, thinking of that bastard always pisses me off." She said before taking a calming breath. "Anyways, I continued my search and eventually I found Ripley. They had experimented on her, accelerating her growth unnaturally. She didn't recognize me at first and attacked, but as she was about to kill me, she realized who I was and ran off in shame at what she had been about to do. I continued on and encountered the leader of the terrorists, a monster called Mother Brain. I had fought her before and won, but it seems it wasn't enough. We fought again and I had the upper hand until she let loose a beam that she hadn't had before, it drained my life so she probably figured it out from the experiments she performed on Ripley. Anyways, as I was about to die for a second time in one day, Ripley swooped in and attacked Mother Brain, draining her life. She continued until it seemed like Mother Brain was dead, and then she latched on to me, restoring the life both she and Mother Brain had taken." Haruka's mom got a haunted look in her eyes.

"But Mother Brain wasn't dead and attacked Ripley." She continued, "Ripley continued to pour life into me, shielding me from Mother Brain's attacks even as she died. Distraught at losing my child I poured my anger into my attacks and didn't stop until Mother Brain was dead, for good this time. Unfortunately, the collateral damage from the battle caused the place to start falling apart and I had to escape the complex before it collapsed on me." She took another calming breath at that. "And that's the story of your big sister."

Haruka launched forward and hugged her mom, "Mom, I'm so sorry you had to go through that." Michiru also joined in the hug.

"It's okay Haruka, as I said it happened years before I met your father. I've learned to cope with the pain." Haruka's mom said. "Now, I need to get going. Your father will be home from work in," She checks her watch, "an hour and a half, and I need to get dinner ready. I'll be back next week for more training, and I need to talk to someone about how bounties are going to work."

"I think you might need to talk to MCAT about that, as they are the official government department for supernatural things." Michiru said.

Haruka's mom nods her head, "Ah, alright. Anyways, I'll visit again next week. I do hope you can at least come visit, even if it's when your father isn't home." She said as they got up and headed for the front door.

Haruka grimaced, "I'll think about it, but don't hold your breath. And love you mom." She said as she gave her mom a hug goodbye.

"Love you too sweetie." Her mother said and returned the hug. She then walked out of the house heading back to her own home.

The idea for this hit and it wouldn't go away until I wrote it down and posted it. Hope you all enjoy it.
