Best use of her time? Probably not. Unfortunately, what is best and what is necessary don't always line up, and Ami is going to be walking in circles where at least some of the people won't give her the time of day unless she has a useless piece of certified paper with the letters PHD written on it hanging on her office wall, and wasting a few years sitting through lectures she already knows the conclusions of is one of the few routes to getting that.

Now, there may be other ways to get her the "official" accreditations she's going to need and we are certainly going to look for and take them if the opportunity arises, but spending a few years risking being failed by professors because she's smarter than they are is certainly the most taken-for-granted route to acquiring them.
Fun fact: in Japan in the early 90s, you could get a PhD by publishing five papers in certain science journals. So all she has to do is achieve revolutionary breakthroughs in science like the guy who invented blue LEDs and she's golden.

In that case I can see the value in going out of her way to get a PhD. It'd look great on her high school applications.

Also, let's not confuse 'Memetic Genius Season 5 Ami who has studied the supernatural for years' with 'talented 14 year old Ami who found out magic exists a few months ago and has the world's best study tool'. By the time she actually becomes the first one, we can expect circumstances to be very different.

Also, the world will need a scientific journal for magic related research and study. How much will that journal care about pieces of paper instead of verifiable results in studies/papers in such a ground breaking field?

"Huh? Wait… Oooh!" She grins. "Well well, what do we have here?"

"Uh… I don't know?" It's her visor, not yours!

"Well…" She trails off again, looking down at the ground in front of her feet. "Wow, 'Sagi, I can see it! Or… sort of see it. My visor's drawing pictures of it in front of the ground. Like I was looking through the rocks. I think it must be the remote systems; I was hoping I'd be able to do something like this when I got close, like I did back in the hangar."

"What do you see?"

"Well, there's some damage, but the ceiling held up almost everywhere. I have some systems access… hm." Ami waves vaguely at the ground, possibly forgetting that you can't see what she's pointing at.

"The backup generator has been running so long that the computer's calendar crashed for some reason, there's some kind of tap going to the Roof of Heaven… not important. It… oh."

"Is something wrong?"

"I think that this damage indicator means that the people in one of the chamber blocks can't be revived. I'm going to need to think about why, but I think one of the revival machines has broken down somehow."

You try to fight the sinking feeling. "You said that happened to one of those 'blocks.' Are there others?"

"Um… yes." Ami sags with relief. "And their equipment is still working. Everything's been overdue for maintenance for "error" years, but it's still working. And it looks like what we saw from the computer on the Moon is basically right. It's safe to be moving around and living inside for people who need, ah… air. Things like that" Ami winces, perhaps feeling a bit awkward about putting it so bluntly. "And there's a record of the people in the chambers. Names… ages… school IDs, believe it or not, for a lot of them."

"Well, it's an academy, so I guess that makes sense."

"Something like a university, I think. And… hm. They're not all human- Artemis and Luna are going to be so happy, there are Mau here! And some of the other species we've heard about, too. There's…" she wiggles her fingers very fast, moving her lips silently. Then she stops. "I count six hundred and fourteen people down there, Usagi!"

So... we now have an approximate since The Crystal Kingdom's End. Given that there's apparently some, nearly, 37,000 years left on a 100,000 year cryo experiment.

- 10 Human; 5 Mercurian, 5 Jovian: Project Research Duration - 100,000 Years: Experiment Duration Remaining 36,875 Years remaining
So assuming the Standard Imperial Year is the same as the commonly accepted modern earth year, the Fall is now dated to have been sometime after 61,133 BCE

Well that's interesting.
Most of the Mau were SM citizens in truth. Also we got about 100 cats!
All of the Belthan and Shantair however are from protectorates.

Oh that is a very wide cross section of the Silver Millennium, and I really hope beyond hope that at least a few of the middle schoolers had family at the university who also made it...

I don't know if I should view us thawing that's guys out as us "auto-completing" the tech tree several times over, gaining free Research AP, or being stuck in a whole new batch of AP Hell hitherto unimaginable.
I'd say it probably trades a bunch of the research rolls for a couple of integration and set up actions and probably a lot of on upkeep costs.

Alternatively we could start by only unfreezing the deputy headmistress, the deans of students, cryonics, and medicine, and the head of security and have them take care of the administrative planning of it all, with us mostly providing resources and options.

Hmm. The last two are Nanoha, but Google can't find me anything for the Pollun.

Oh no.

Those poor kids…
Luna first mentioned the Pollun waaaaaaaaayyyyyy back at the start of Turn 2, though they haven't really come up since.

"There were four other worlds..." Luna starts to explain. "Four other peoples who were part of the Silver Millennium, but outside of this solar system. The Belthen, the Pollu, the Shantair, and..." Luna pauses for a moment. "The Mao, my... homeworld. I... never knew it. I was born here, on Earth actually. Still... The fact that they aren't here... That they didn't help Earth after the Attack..." Luna goes quiet again, but for longer this time.

So (seemingly) no officers or veterans, which is disappointing, but all those students and professors should at least get us out of research AP hell.
