That's

7 +1 +2 = 10 dice

1 + 7 = 8. A1
3 + 7 = 10. A2
7 + 7 = 14. A3

8 + 10 = 18 ???

Alright, I need a d100 + 2 +2 DC 51 For Intrigue

It must be a Tuesday, I never got the hang of Tuesdays Part 2 - A Strange Shop
Usagi looks between the girl and the table of dice. Then back to the girl, then to the table a second time.

For a moment, the girl is tempted to say that Naru's bid is Spot On... but... No.

That would be too obvious. Naru wouldn't start a game of Liar's dice by telling the truth. That would be way too easy. Though, now that Usagi has thought that, it does give her an idea.
[USAGI'S ROLL: 7 + 1 +2<Believable Lie>=10]
[NARU'S ROLL: 4 + 4<1/2 Intrigue Rounded Up>=8]

A terrible idea, a wondrous idea, an absolutely not at all Usagi-like idea. Taking a breath, the girl focuses on the things that she remembers Luna doing during that hand of Liar's dice. All the little tells and the way that she was sitting. Everything that she did to make it clear that she was lying.

And Usagi tries to do the opposite of that. "I bid Three 2s." Usagi says. From where the cat sits, Luna gives Usagi a small nod. Usagi isn't sure if that means that the cat has noticed Usagi trying to pull a fast one, or... What exactly.

Across from here, Naru sits. Eyes locked onto Usagi, not looking even an inch away from the girl. She seems to be trying her best to figure out if Usagi is lying to her. The other girl sits there for a long time, eyes roaming across every plane and edge of Usagi's existence.

Finally, after what felt like so very long. The girl nods, ignoring the way that Usagi's face has filled with color. "Spot on," Naru says. "I'm certain that you are telling the exact number."

The only response that Usagi has is to lean forward, grabbing her own cup, and picking it up - revealing the dice underneath.

A 4, Two 2s, a 5, and a 1.

The moment that Naru sees the dice, her face starts to fall, before it settles into a pout, and the girl lifts her own cup - Two 3s. A 4. A 5. A 6.

There were not three 2s across the board. Naru... was wrong. "Not bad," Naru says, her pout turning into a grin. "With how hard and how obvious you were with trying to make it look like you weren't lying, I guessed that you were doing that on purpose to make it seem like you were trying to trick me."

Usagi's face twists for a moment. "So you thought that because I made it look like I wasn't lying, that I was actually telling the truth, but making it look like I was lying, by making it look like I wasn't lying as..." The gears and cogs in the girl's head are spinning as fast as they can, but Usagi is lost and confused by Naru's explanation.

Naru laughs, before grabbing her dice, dropping them back into the cup, and flipping it over again. "Next hand?"

[INTRIGUE +1]

"Well..." Luna starts, "We are still a good... Ten, fifteen minutes from the train station." The cat says, and the girls nod in agreement. "So then... My memories are still spotty, but... But ever since you asked me about the Silver Millennium last week, I have been getting a few more bits and pieces of my memories back. So I'll try and answer any questions that you might have about Magic. At least while we're on the way to the train." The cat nods, "Sound like a good idea to you two?"

Naru nods, quickly glancing around to see if there is anyone paying close attention to the two girls. There are a handful of other people on the street, but no one who seems to be giving either of the girls any real attention. "Is there any way to detect when someone is using magic?" She asks.

"Well," Luna starts" There are a couple of ways. Magical Sensors, various artifacts. There are also a number of different spells that can detect magic in different ways..."

Naru listens carefully, her lips starting to turn down as Luna continues on. "I was meaning more... Like the thing that the monster that replaced my mom did. Using magic to make the jewelry nearly irresistible. Is there any way that I would be able to detect magic being cast?"

"Oh." Luna shakes her head, chuckling softly. "You know, that makes that question make a whole lot more sense. Let me think." Luna is quiet for a minute before she nods. "There are two... Maybe three ways that I can think of." Luna says. "There is the quick and stupid way, or the smart and slow way."

"The Quick and Stupid Way?" Usagi asks, a slightly nervous look on her face. "How stupid are we talking?"

"The Quick and Stupid way is that I find a spell that either I can cast," Luna explains "or that Sailor Moon can cast, and we channel the spell through you. Using you sort of like a wand."

The baffled and worried look on both girl's faces is met with a nod from Luna. "As I said. Quick and stupid. It will almost certainly allow you to detect magic within an hour, but spells are really not designed to be used like that, and there is a non zero chance of hurting you... or if you are even capable of magic, it could burn out your magic, leaving you unable to use magic. It is not worth it."

"Then what is the Slower way?" Naru asks her tone a little more hopeful.

"Experience." Luna says simply. "When magic is cast, it can be felt by those close by. The more powerful the spell, the further away it can be felt. If, for instance," Luna says, before closing her eyes.
[Naru Roll: 4 + 6<Luna Learning> + 2<1/4 Learning> = 12]
[Usagi Roll: 8 + 6<Luna Learning> + 2<1/3 Learning> = 16]
All of a sudden, there is a soft... something that Usagi is able to feel. The softest of sensations, but something she felt nonetheless.

"I just cast a relatively simple and weak spell. It points me to magnetic north." Luna explains.

"I didn't feel anything..." Naru says with a sigh.

"Now, if I were to do that every... hour, for like a week straight, you might be able to detect magic. How long it takes really depends on how strong the spell used is, and how strong your own magic is." Luna explains. "The stronger the spell and the more often it is cast around you, and the quicker you will be able to feel the magic of other people. I knew a seer, back on the Moon who could feel spells cast from nearly a mile away, even the weakest of spells. It was amazing."
Naru Personal Action Added - [ ] Train Magical Awareness

"Okay!" Usagi says with a grin. "That is definitely something that we can practice later, but now it's my turn to ask a question!"

Naru pouts at the turning of the conversation but doesn't directly object.

Usagi taps her brooch with two fingers. "Are there any other magical objects like my brooch that help people use magic?" She asks, and just like that Naru's pout is gone. Usagi has asked a question that she is definitely interested in hearing the answer to.

"Well there is the obvious answer," Luna responds with a nod. "The other Solar Guardians have items much like your brooch. Wands used by the next generation of Senshi to help them learn how to tap into the magics of the planets until they are able to use the magic on their own. But those weren't the only examples." The cat says as she hops down from Usagi's shoulder. After a quick glance around, the cat spots an alleyway. Heading down into the side street, the girls follow after.

Once you slip away from the street and out of view of anyone who might be watching, Luna springs into the air, giving a flip in the air. She flips once, twice, three times before she drops back to the ground, landing on her feet. A glimmering light swirls in the spot that she just flipped in. Whirling and gathering for a moment before it collects into a glimmering pen.

"This is the Transformation Pen," Luna says, as the pen drops into Usagi's hands. "It... To be honest. I don't know exactly how this thing works. It was an artifact that the Princess had made for her. It allows the user to transform themselves into just about anything that they can imagine. And it gives them the skills required to be able to act out the role that they have chosen."

"Really?" Usagi asks, holding the pen up to the light. "How do I use it?"

"Well, at the moment you can't." Luna answers simply. "It hasn't been used for... However long it has been since the fall of the Silver Millennium. I am still working on getting the enchantment recharged. Hopefully, I should have it working by the end of the week, but until then... Even using the transformation phrases wouldn't manage to do more than give you a headache and a shock."

Usagi pouts, and Naru laughs. "But this is just an example of what kinds of tools are out there. Actually... I'll have to look through the handful of artifacts that I was given before being put into Cryostasis... I might have a student's wand lying about. I'll have to look through the artifacts and see what I have."
Luna Personal Action Added [ ] Log Artifacts

Stepping off the train, Usagi turns to her best friend, even as one hand idly fiddles with the brooch that allows her to transform into Sailor Moon. "Lead the way." She wouldn't admit it out loud, especially not since Naru asked her to do this for the exact reason...

But knowing that the Brooch is there and that she has the ability to transform into Sailor Moon if the situation calls for it is quite possibly the only thing that gives the girl the confidence to go with Naru and check out this shop.

Usagi is... She knows that she is a regular girl. Nothing special. Just an average girl with below-average grades.

Sailor Moon though? Sailor Moon is strong, she is fast. She can defend herself and fight against evil. Sailor Moon is everything Usagi could ever want to be and then some.

Knowing that if it calls for it, she can stop being the borderline failure Usagi and start being the Hero Sailor Moon...

It makes the girl feel a whole lot more comfortable with coming along with Naru to some strange shop that the girl found.

Usagi follows Naru down past the shining lights of the Shinjuku shopping center, past massive arcades, and towering signs flashing advertisements for Double Dragon and Kirby's Dreamland. Past trailers for upcoming Anime playing in-store window televisions.

All of it set an itch to Usagi's wallet. She wanted to peel off - There was a shop selling sweets, and that one had to have the newest VHS releases.

Oh... There were so many different things to buy in Shinjuku, it was honestly a wonder that Usagi didn't find her allowance slipping into the stores here, rather than the shops closer to home. But Usagi was here on a mission.

She was here to help Naru, and all the bright lights and succulent deals could wait until her friend was no longer worried.

Roughly halfway down one of the many blocks, Naru turns, sliding down into the tall, thin alleyways that pockmark the streets. It seems to be less than twenty feet before the bright lights and shining storefronts are no more than a distant memory as the two make their way down through the nearly grimy back alleys of Tokyo.

Usagi wants to say something, but she isn't quite sure what it is that she should be asking. Why is it that Naru seems to know these alleyways? Where is this mysterious shop that the girl mentioned, and why does it require coming here to get there?

The alley twists and it turns, but it is only a few minutes before Naru comes to a stop... She looks up at a small shoddy looking shack that almost looks like it was built in the last couple of weeks by someone who wants to hide out in the sewer.

Just looking at the doorway makes Luna shudder from where she sits on Naru's shoulder. "How did I miss this?" The cat asks, more to herself than to either of the girls there. Naru starts to approach the doorway when Luna speaks up again. "Wait."

She hops down from Naru's shoulder, taking a few steps back. The cat suddenly starts to look around, before taking a few steps forward, then back once more.

Luna sighs, dropping her head and shaking it. "Of course." She growls out, sounding very frustrated. "A boundary line."

"A boundary line?" Usagi asks. "What are you talking about."

"I am not a spellcrafter," Luna says, "So I don't know the exact terminology, but essentially, whoever built this shop set up a magical boundary, something that the magic around them can't pass over. It was a relatively niche trick back in the Silver Millennium. It required there to be a large difference in the magic inside the line and outside the line to create a sort of self-sustaining wall that keeps the magic inside from being detected outside. Like a bubble." Luna explains. "Most of the time it was used by Enchanters to create a magicless zone so that they could keep any outside magic from interfering with the enchanting process."

Naru grimaces a little, "So that means that this..."

"Is the real deal." Luna agrees with a nod, before turning to Usagi. "Be on your guard." Taking a deep breath, Usagi rubs a thumb over her brooch before stepping up closer to the building.

Luna hops back up onto Naru's shoulder as Usagi approaches the building. The moment that she passes the spot that Luna had been sitting at a few moments ago, she feels it.

She doesn't have the words to explain it, but she feels it. Like a wet tongue rolling over her body, a dry pressure that presses against her skin, and a humming electric current all rolled into one. Yet it isn't wet, it isn't dry, and it certainly isn't electric.

For a moment Usagi can feel the hairs on her arms start to stand on their ends, but then there is a sensation almost like her ears popping, and the sensation slips into the back of her mind.

Together, the three pass through the door.

Usagi's first opinion of the shop is that it is as shabby on the inside as it is on the outside. Cramped shelves are covered in knicks and knacks, items of every shape and size.

"Ahhh..." The voice that appears from nowhere creaks like tanned leather. "Miss Osaka. I am surprised to see you again. I did not expect to see you return after the way you left last time."

Stepping past the next row of shelves, Usagi finds herself standing in front of a long counter. On the other side of the counter is a tall stool, sitting atop of which is...

First glance says it is a potato atop a second larger potato with some kind of white strings rolling down past the bottom of the second potato.

Second glance makes the girl realize that it is instead an ancient-looking man, relaxing back, his mouth hidden behind the longest beard that the girl has ever seen. "Ah. So you have brought a friend." Beady eyes look out past a pair of long white eyebrows. "Innnnntteresting. You... Se.. no. Us... no. Tsukino. That will do. Miss Tsukino. Welcome to my little shop. I offer wares of all shapes and sizes. I am more than willing to haggle down prices for any items that you are interested in." He nods, before a gnarled hand waves out to one side. "Over there I have incenses galore, able to help you with anything that you need." The other hand reaches out, pointing the other direction. "Over there I have various magical artifacts and tools..." Usagi starts to move, and with startling quickness, the old man holds a hand out, giving the girl pause. "BUT. But... And listen well, child." The grizzled man's voice is deep and striking.

"Everything within my store has a story. Has a tale. Each of my wares have rules, have limits, have boundaries. There is a right way to use them, and a wrong way to use them. Everything on these shelves have instructions that must be followed. Ignore them, and your health, your wits, your very life may be forfeit. Thus..." Then, all of a sudden, all the gravitas, all the depth, and seriousness leaves the man's voice. "All purchases are final. There are no returns or refunds, buy at your own risk... Oh... Was there anything else that my lawyer said that I had to say for liability... I don't think so."

[FAILURE]

[ ] Incense Collection - Costs 1 Fund
- A bamboo tube filled with what looks to be a hundred different incense sticks, separated into five different segments.
"Ah... The Summertime Incense Collection, a classic. Let's see... Oh what kind of incenses were a part of that old thing again.... I remember one makes you sleep for all eternity... and another wakes you up from the eternal slumber. One definitely makes you kiss people, and... Hah! I don't remember what the last two do!"

[ ] Mermaid Swimsuit - Costs 2 Funds
- You see... What seems to be a one piece swimsuit floating in a filled fish tank. Every now and then, it drifts to one side of the tank or the other, before eventually shifting back to the center.
"Ah yes. The Mermaid Swimsuit. That one was very popular back when I was a boy. While wearing the swimsuit, you gain supernatural agility and speed within the water, and you can also breath water. Very useful. Even the worst swimmer in the world would be world class while wearing this. However! If you allow the swimsuit to completely dry out, then it shall dissolve into sea foam. Likewise, if you wear the swimsuit for... For... I don't remember how long... then you shall transform into a merfolk. Which means that if you completely dry out, then you too shall turn to sea foam. So be careful, and do not let it dry out."

[ ] The Curse Breaker's Kettle - Costs 3 Funds
- At first glance, this tea kettle appears to be relatively ordinary, if made of copper and extremely old.
"The Curse Breaker's Kettle. Very good choice. Boil water within the kettle to create a magical mixture that is able to remove lesser curses. Of course, if there is a stronger curse that you need to remove, then the kettle is capable of removing those as well... but the process is a little more... Involved. First of all, you will need Fresh Spring Water, ethically sourced from a mountain spring in Finland. Then, you will need to gather a special mix of spices that only grow in the Amazon Rain forest, and Pink Himalayan Mountain Salts. I have the list of spices written down on a paper in here." The old man pats the counter, "If you buy, then you get. There is a final step, which is also written on the paper."

[ ] Eyes of the Heart - Costs 1 Funds
- Wow... Those are without a doubt the tackiest sunglasses that anyone has ever seen. They are bright pink, encrusted with rhinestones in a design like flowers all around the lenses.
"The Eyes of the Heart. Fascinating bit of magic that. You wear them, and they allow you to see into the hearts of others. To understand who they are. And they work!... I think. When you wear them, and look at others, you are indeed able to see something. You see a flower. Not really sure why, or what that means. But each person seems to have a different flower. Really, they seem a mite useless to me, but who really cares about the hearts of others, I say."

[ ] Thunder Guardian Bracelets (Damaged) - Costs 4 Funds
- A pair of golden bracelets that have what looks to be the number 21 on them. However, one of the 21s is broken near the top... But that 21 symbol. It looks... Familiar to you.
"Ah, well would you look at that. The Thunder Guardian Bracelets. Easily the oldest item in my stock. Supposedly, this was worn by a guardian of the wizard who called himself Zeus. Back when us magical folk walked among the magicless, pretending to be gods. While wearing these bracelets, you are able to call upon lightning itself to protect yourself. Simply place a hand on the one you want to be shocked, and think nasty thoughts... Unfortunately, the bracelets are damaged, and there is a small chance of shocking yourself when you use them. Because of that, they are cheaper than they really deserve to be. WARNING: Do not use on people with Pacemakers, or who are pregnant."
-- Luna: "Wait... That's..."

[ ] Petals of the Storm - Costs 4 Funds
- A pair of beautifully designed hand fans designed to look like a flower unfolding. There, at the center of each fan is a strangely familiar looking symbol. An H, but it has a third pillar, and at the bottom of the pillar is a circle.
"The Petals of the Storm! Beautiful craftsman ship. Not a clue what they are made from. Old as hell too. Not as old as the Thunder Guardian's Bracelets, but still old. Not sure how they work either. Open the fan as wide as it can, then wave them. They generate winds strong enough to blow leaves off of trees, and possibly just knock the trees right over. Very dangerous if misused. Unfortunately, the handles are not the originals, and are a little loose. Wave the fans too hard, and the handle might break."
-- Luna: "I know that..."

[ ] A Beginner's Primer on Magic - Costs 4 Funds
- A large leather bound tome.
"A beginner's Primer on Magic. Fascinating Thing. It is filled with everything that you could ever need to be able to learn how to use magic. There is... ah... Two caveats. The first is that this is not the original text. This is a reproduction of a part of the original text. It should be a set of five, but I only have the first. The second is a bit more... troubling, and why the book is as cheap as it is. S'not in Japanese. Not in Chinese, nor English, French. Well there are bits in Japanese that the Wizard who published it has managed to translate, but the majority of the text is in a long dead unknown language."
-- Naru seems more than a little put out upon hearing that. But... when the old man opens the book, revealing the text inside... You recognize the letters. You recognize the words. That... That is High Lunar.

I wonder if it would let us see rainbow crystals if they exist here? Also I wish we could consult with Luna before buying but oh well. That being said we can buy 3 things if we spend everything. So two of the following book, bracelets, fan, and the glassess or incense.

[x]BUY Plan Lunar

Magic Primer, so we can teach ourselves, other guardians, and Naru if possible.

Petals of the Storm. That's an artifact Luna recognizes and it's in working condition, so we should get it.

There doesn't seem to be anything against returning to the shop, so we can return for the other guardian item when we're prepared to repair it

Can i convince you on shifting to the bracelets? yes they do shock yourself occasionally but if we give them to jupiter that doesn't matter. And i don't think Luna recognizes the fan but was acknowledging that they can break.

I think her words were on her saying "I know that artifact". And both items are damaged, and shocking yourself on occasion only doesn't matter when transformed. Otherwise they're base human. I would rather work on repairing the handles. They seem relatively easy to fix in comparison to the other

[X] Plan: No Arcade for Us
-[X] Eyes of the Heart
-[X] Thunder Guardian Braclets
-[X] A Beginner's Primer on Magic

This very well could be one of those 'shops that weren't here yesterday' type of deals. As it is, we should focus on our immediate needs, and pick up the objects which can support us or our nearest allies now. Jupiter is one of the willing recruits from the first season(s), while Uranus had to be persuaded to help out, and is pretty cynical to boot. The magic primer is a no-brainer, even if we have to hunt down the rest of the books ourselves. And the glasses will help us find the other Senshi, or other possible magic-wielding allies.

...we really need to work on our money management skills, if these sort of opportunities are going to pop up on occasion.

[X]Plan: Alley Shoppe- Enter the Magick.
[X}Excuse yourselves for a moment and leave the shop. Ask Luna what she can tell about the old man and what she knows about what's on sale.
-[X]Initial shopping list: Bracelets, Petals, Primer
--[X]Start haggling.
---{X] if we can't haggle enough to get all three, drop the bracelets and go for the swimsuit.

Remember everyone:

Nice new actions that will hopefully make Naru usefull even in the long term, once we get the other sailors
Usagi is... She knows that she is a regular girl. Nothing special. Just an average girl with below-average grades.

yeah, sure. Keep telling yourself that.

I do understand what she means, but Usagi is the furthest from "normal" you can be in the Sailor Moon universe. She's not even a "normal" sailor senshi!
Just looking at the doorway makes Luna shudder from where she sits on Naru's shoulder. "How did I miss this?" The cat asks, more to herself than to either of the girls there. Naru starts to approach the doorway when Luna speaks up again. "Wait."

And Naru definitely proves we made a good choice in NOT deleting her memories. Luna definitely will have to acknowledge it too.

"Innnnntteresting. You... Se.. no. Us... no. Tsukino. That will do. Miss Tsukino.
:o:o:o!!!

No, please, PLEASE USE THAT FIRST NAME! Maybe it will jog Luna's memory!

He's obviously the real deal. I wonder what's his story?

well, not really interested in unknown effects. We wouldn't want to use the eternal slumber incense right after we wasted the awakening one after all.

[ ] Mermaid Swimsuit - Costs 2 Funds
potentially useful, yet risky
[ ] The Curse Breaker's Kettle - Costs 3 Funds
If we ever meet Ranma and friends this would certainly become interesting.

Or if we end up dealing with dangerous curses. Maybe not yet though
[ ] Eyes of the Heart - Costs 1 Funds
Wasn't there a season of the anime all about the villains removing crystals from the hearts of people? maybe this could help finding the "right" ones?

Looking at a youma with this might also help, but they're so tacky that we'd have problems actually using them!

..can we have Naru try them on and look at us and Luna @Lunaryon ?
[ ] Thunder Guardian Bracelets (Damaged) - Costs 4 Funds
would you look at that, the symbol of Sailor Jupiter.

I wonder, was this "Zeus" somehow able to access part of the power of Jupiter somehow?

[ ] Petals of the Storm - Costs 4 Funds
basically the Banshou Fan from Dragon Ball, but with Sailor Uranus' symbol on it.

[ ] A Beginner's Primer on Magic - Costs 4 Funds
WANT!

If only we could find the sequels...

well, the primer is an obvious pick. Other than that, nothing is really essential. Maybe the swimsuit or the glasses?

The funds are already adjusted for haggling according to the QM. Naru also has been to this place before and lead us to it again, so this is not a pop up shop that will disappear

well, it didn't disappear YET.

It's talk about lawyers kinda makes me believe it won't suddenly disappear though. I wonder if we could get some magical history out of it though. Maybe Luna might consider revealing herself and asking a few questions?

Can we come back to buy stuff in the future?
no reason we couldn't, though I suppose there's always a chance of the shop closing, or interesting objects being sold to someone else.

...imagine if a youma found the place!

one of the major overarching arcs for the first season of the anime was the rainbow crystals, which both sealed super youma but are also critical components of the Silver Crystal (this isn't the case in the manga but what ev). these where in 7 people, some of which had abilities others not.

Ah yes, the disguise pen. Only not the most broken item in the series because there are so many other broken ones.

Yes, the Death Busters and the Outer Senshi were, in the anime, competing to find which pure heart crystals had the talismans in them (spoiler: It was the outer senshi). If this is manga continuity though IIRC they already have access to the talismans by the time they meet Usagi.
