Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
I asked yrs about this in the discord and he said we'll get to that bonus and the one we got from Hui ring later down the line.

What is the bonus from the Hui ring? We didn't choose the Grandmistress's works, we chose the grumpy family tree.

Also,
the Wind Thief options will also go in that because I think they fit better with what I have in mind there

What options are these? We already got the Concept XP and advanced the Sable Grace trait, right? Now there is only the 2 LFWT projects that the Laughing Wing Project unlocks.

"See, see! So many presents, and these are the ones I couldn't eat!"

Ling Qi glanced at Bao Qian who shrugged. "Food and libations are common sacrifices."
"Mhmm, even the really plain stuff tasted so good with the incenses burning and everything," Hanyi agreed, digging around in the trunk. Ling Qi saw everything from rough wooden figurines to folded furs and clinking bottles, polished river stones and pouches of herbs and more.

Sixiang, what do spirits normally do with offerings to them? LIng Qi wondered silently.

"Depends, most just kinda absorb them, but some keep some around in their spaces. I suspect the little gremlin's gonna be a hoarder."
I don't suspect, Sixiang. I know that Hanyi is going to be a hoarder. She's going to have her "Vault of Winter's Herald" stuffed to the brim with knick-knacks and preserved snacks.

In a more serious note, these offerings will provide Hanyi with useful goods and materials that Hanyi could sell for more income, use to bribe other spirits to ease relations, or in any projects that take her fancy.

I believe it is in reference to this passage from when we were exploring the ring. I don't think there was an explicit mention of mechanics it would be benefiting, however.

She would have to split them with Xia Lin of course, and she could already see ones the girl might be interested in, but even so, it was a great boon for her burgeoning clan library. More important though, were the five jade slips that she had added to a third pile.

They contained teachings on the crafting and modification of arts, and even a cursory glance had shown that their lessons were far deeper than the basic instruction offered by her Sect lessons. There was musing on the shape of meridians, on insights and tribulations and breakthroughs that she knew she would want to study more closely later.

The "grumpy family tree" was not everything we got from the Hui ring. We got alot of stuff, most we sold at the auction but some we kept a hold of. Some minor arts, alot of artworks, songs, books and text on theater etc. The compass we use in the Dream when we explore, a scrying thing for farsight.

And finally some texts mentioned above that we got wog on back then will help us make successor arts stronger.

Err, whut? I don't see what the fuss is about.
Priests aren't managers of their god. Managers have some measure of authority over the talent they are assisting, and they work to ensure that the talents have gigs, that their schedules aren't conflicting, and prepare a lot of the background material needed for shows and performances to go well.

Priests, on the other hand, intercede to their god on behalf of the people. Even if we are talking more of a shamanistic/pagan priest dealing with spirits, it is the priest's role to ensure the spirit is appeased and to be the intercessor of the people under their care to the spirit they wish to entreat.

Saying that being a priest is equal to being the manager of a god or spirit is to completely reverse the relationship and dynamics between the two.

I could also see her using some of her items in a pinch when she's in battle with us, to give her a boost of vitality or energy, something to heal her up since she's a bit more delicate than us or Zhengui. The concept of consuming one of the gifts given to her as sacrifice for the sake of continuing in battle is kinda appropriate for a Winter theme. Hanyi would not be happy doing so because she clearly loves her growing hoard. But she could just take out her anger on the enemy. It would be another interesting use of some of her items rather than her just sitting around hoarding all of it. And it would make her all the more motivated to replace what is sacrificed.

It's worth pointing out that the power relationships are very different in Forge. Part of the role of the nobility is that they can negotiate and manage spirits on a much more even playing field, and can in fact exert control over them to a degree.

Yeah, it's a little like Exalted in that you can go find someone to punch your local god if they're not doing their job right.

Basic shamanism really. Priest is expected to punch minor spirit (or even minor god if powerful enough) in the face if they become unduly uppity. It's major ones that are appeased only... and it's a question of power anyway first and foremost.

So... having a priest go and tell a god that the god owes a worshiper money and need to pay up would be inappropriate? What about telling a god that their opinions on a point of theology are irrelevant?

I ask because, while rabbis aren't exactly priests, there are stories of just such things happening in Judaism.

There are also examples of pagan gods being punished by their priests who viewed them as not fulfilling their end of the deal.

Oh that's true. Does she have a bag ring of holding already? If not, we should get her one to carry her hoard with her. Unless spirit shenanigans lets her carry everything already

"It was a bit of a trip," he chuckled. Lowering his voice a little he added. "She is precocious isn't she?"

"That is a word," Ling Qi agreed.

Well, Meizhen clearly accomplished her job, because Ling Qi's response to someone busting out a big word she doesn't understand is to smile and nod and reveal none of her confusion. The question is whether Rexiang's finished hers well enough that Ling Qi bothers to look it up in a dictionary later.

(yes I know she probably does understand the word)

I think that's more or less inevitable once she hits 5th tier of cultivation.
Big spirits attract smaller spirits, and if she is to become the main winter spirit of southern Emeral Seas, she is going to end up needing lesser spirits to send as messengers.
Won't she be starting a court of her own as soon as she hits the fourth realm, not the fifth? The fourth realm seems to be when spirits begin accumulating followers.
