We definitely need to focus on the Wang sometime, for the sake of our fief. But there's no pressing need to do so right now, and we already have future plans in motion.

On the other hand, we have a unique opportunity to mend our relationship with the Diao right now. We also have future plans in motion with Su Ling, but we can't afford to miss this one (and honestly, we probably want more support from them before that plays out).

Even if we become besties with the Wang and resolve the Meng drama in our favor, 2 count clans is not enough to shake the Emerald Seas. We need more.

(have we cleared up with Gan Guangli that we expect him to take care of the Jia?)

Yeah, I think the opportunity to make inroads to people we outherwise wouldn't our success offers is worth delaying becoming close allies with the Wang. I believe that just by living nearby and having multiple political similiarties - not to mention already existant good reputation with the smaller clans - we will get other opportunities to get close to Wang, but much less so with Diao and Central Valley. Still, a difficult choice.

After much thought, I've been swayed in one direction.

I feel like people are free to ignore his advice, but this :

"Focus, build this strength, this moment. Take the opportunity to expand your reach, and bolster this high before it fades."

... is definitely about beating the iron while it's hot and seizing the unique opportunity we have of forming strong ties with the Diao.
