Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Problem with Ji Rong is that he gives off way too many gang leader vibes for Qi. Yeah he understands her background but he was the type she'd explicitly do anything to avoid back then. Iirc I even remember a scene where Sixiang asked Qi why she didn't find him attractive and she responded that she wasn't attracted to him since his whole vibe triggers her danger senses. He'd arguably ping her trauma worse than a polite Zheng. Other than that point I more or less agree.

That's at the start of this post.

but the very next post, he comes to the "obvious" realization that it's not enough to be alone, and our bond increases.

Do I think that they will ever intentionally hook up? No. (especially before she tries dating someone safer)

Do I have endless ideas of strange circumstances they might find themselves in? Yes.

Sounds good. The only other reasonable possibility would be "Ling Wrong", but that's a bit too much of a tongue-twister (not taking advantage of the Wrong pun would be wrong).

I voted for turtle time but the fashion options in Shenhua's capital are probably gonna be bonkers in a way that will be unmatched in the Empire

Okay, two hour warning. Also I have added a small section to the previous update exploring your dreamwalker upgrade and its absorption of the ephemeral dreamlit dancer technique a bit

For those curious, this is what I believe changed in the last update.

Sixiang tugged her along, pointing to new attractions and sights, and Ling Qi let herself be carried along by the muses enthusiasm. It felt strange, and often enough she could feel her attention pulling in different directions, her feet carrying her left and right at once. It was only when she found herself trying to play two festival games on opposite sides of a street at once that the dissonance crashed down and she found herself standing in front of only one, holding her temples from the pounding headache.

"You lasted quite awhile there," Sixiang chuckled.

"What did you do?" Ling Qi grimaced.

"Heh, just showing you how much you can stretch the possibilities of grandmothers techniques," Sixiang chuckled. "You could know the steps to dance in possibility, but you can do more with it."

Ling Qi rubbed her temple one more time, wincing at the subsiding pain. The Lunar Revelry art did have a defensive technique that shrouded you in afterimages generated by your own unchosen actions "That wasn't just an afterimage of potential. I was really going two different ways. That isn't supposed to be possible until fourth realm."

"It isn't, not out there, but you can bend things a little here, though you just felt the limit" Sixiang said. "But I bet you can do some useful tricks with it."

"Show me," Ling Qi replied.

"And this is how you get a workaholic to play," Sixiang said, taking her hand.

Ling Qi already had some practice with splitting her perceptions, seeing at multiple angles, it was another thing to take it a step further and walk in opposite directions at the same time. It was invigorating and exciting, a preview of what she would be able to do in the future, constrained to a bare few seconds and meters.

It is, in essence, the ability to be in actually two places at once and doing two different things simultaneously. At least in the Dream. Which, as has been pointed out should only be possible as a fourth realm.

Interestingly, this seems to be a bit different than what I previously thought of for multi-presence at Cyan level. It is not the creation of a body with less amount of power inside of it to do things, but the same body being in two different things at two different locations simultaneously. In essence, it seems to be the imposition of our will upon the world to allow for a possible set of actions to be realized as well.

As Sixiang said, really only possible in the Dream with how malleable it is to will and emotion, especially at our level, but if we can train it so that we can choose which option we will be at upon collapse of the possibilities, then we might have something akin to a lesser version of Coil's power from Worm. The ability to choose which option of the two we prefer to be at when the possibilities merge.

But, it would be really cool to be talking to people or spirits in order to distract them while sneaking through their fortress to acquire the object we really need.

Well, that's actually kind of how it works. It's best explained in Jiao's sidestory, when he was working for Emperor An.
You can create independent bodies and choose how much power you allocate to them. Though the more you give away the weaker your main body becomes.
The different bodies are aware of each other and share senses, so it's like being at different places at one. There has to be distance restrictions though, or long distance communication would be trivial.

Ling Qi nodded once and offered her hand. "I'm still pretty new, so this will go better if you take my hand."

Su Ling snorted but grasped her hand. The other girls hand was hard and calloused despite her cultivation. She took pride in that Ling Qi supposed. She readied herself, this was far different from simply skimming the border the way she had with Yu Nuan.

Just remembered this bit...
Taking someone with us into Dream, perhaps for a meet-and-greet moon rave, requires * gasp * HANDHOLDING

Cue Ling Qi nonchalantly training Dreamwalker trait until that's no longer necessary. >:p

I understand how it is normally done, as you've said, Jiao's sidestory shows a great picture of it, but what Ling Qi did seems to be different. There was no division of power between the two perspectives or, seemingly, a prime body that the perspectives came from. It seems to have been completing two different actions at the same time with the same body.

You're kinda jury rigging the whole thing so its riding off your wisps and PLR rather than the normal mechanics, it is thus much more limited, even in the medium where it works

Catching up to the thread and this caught my eye

If you recall, its basically unheard of for someone to have not 2 but 3 Patrons of the Moon like Ling Qi does. Getting attention from all 8 would be... yeah, no.

8 would be absurd of but 3 seems to be uncommon but not unheard of according to Moon Aunt Road Trip

"Do not tease the girl, a lady is free to be fashionably late," the rightmost spirit said lightly.

"Hmm, I thought I heard something, but you didn't say anything, did you Hidden?" The veiled spirit asked in a sing song voice.

"Oh do stop, Grinning, it is hardly unheard of for a human to be aligned with three of us," Xin said, her manner every inch the put upon older sister. "I am glad you made it Ling Qi, it would hardly do for you to waste your potential with an incomplete cultivation art."
