I think the only news we have regarding Bai-Zheng relations is about cool neutrality due to distance between their polities.
 
It's... interesting to watch the Zheng girl be so openly and blatantly lesbian (or at least bi), though. I'd been under the impression that such things were generally kept... more deniable, at least.
 
IIRC the Zheng don't even recognize marriage as a thing, so they're pretty loose with sex/romance in general, which would then imply looseness with more specific sexual stuff.
 
Remember when @yrsillar did Lakegate? When he said he didn't want to write a lesbian MC because those were overdone on SV, getting a bit boring, and (IIRC) a bit risky to write as a straight dude?

Naw, I'm with Yrs on Lakegate. Lesbian protags are kinda overdone across the SV family(I blame Worm fanfiction tbh, Taylor/Amy everywhere). Having a traumatized girl work her way into a hetero-relationship based on trust and friendship (and eventually love) and maybe a dash of politics is much rarer now-a-days. Watching Ling Qi go from 'ZERO TOUCHING' to 'Holy shit, I don't want to send the wrong signals, but now is time for some touching, I can do this' has actually been pretty awesome.

Also we still get solid lesbian relationship because of Snake and Spider, so we haven't lost anything. We also got a pretty solid net gain because now we have more relationships we can get behind. Further, Mommy of Searing Light is a lesbian, and just came out in a spectacular way.

(Fancy Turtle Man x Moonlight Winter Fairy gets my +1, with the Bao as a fairly close second. Xuan Shi is clearly best boy, respectful, helpful, understanding as he is or tries to be, plus he's part of the Turtle Club; and Bao Qing has been really upfront, pretty understanding and helpful in his own ways, and is a good long term clan choice)

judging on the timeline, that should still be the Jing right? Or is this pointing out that the Jin existed before the Jing actually left?

Trying to find something to 'blame' for all the queerness on SV is an incredibly weird impulse and making the scapegoat some popular franchise is especially tasteless since it kind of makes the classic accusation that all the gay stuff is just fashionable, a trend.
 
I wouldn't quite put it that way. Its more that:
-PMMM & Worm are functionally genres in their own right in SV fanfiction.
-PMMM & Worm have a female protagonist who are in the original material, not significantly opposed to being interested in girls.
-PMMM & Worm have the majority of relevant and interesting characters being female.
-Therefore there are a lot of F/F ships, because shippers will ship everything with everyone given the slightest excuse, and what they have to work with is a lot of girls.

And then you have the additional factor where SV has a lot of LBGT-positive writers who are both prolific and skilled to fill in the rest.

Even with all that, its not that much, especially if you count rather than ignore fics where romance doesn't feature at all. No ships > both F/F and F/M combined
 
Moving on, I wonder how those cartographers are doing right now. Not only are they working directly for the Cai at the moment, but they also have the privilege of working right next to a mountain known to have extremely dangerous spirit beasts. And their only protection, if they run across one of them, is... fresh fruit.

That has got to be a little unnerving.
