But, she felt, it was one unconcerned with them, she felt.

It also make me think about what a Darkness and Light Art could look like if Balanced. Darkness makes the Light seem brighter by contrast, and the Light makes the Darkness seem deeper by contrast. Perhaps a mutually strengthening Art? It'd be a very helpful tool for all our Bright allies battling amongst our deep shadows.

I think playing with the boundry of Light and Dark would be more in keeping with our Liminal specialty and that could open quite a few interesting possibilities. An infinitely fine edge drawn from the perfect meeting of the two opposites? A perfect hiding space found in the non-space between, perhaps reminiscent of Dún Scáith? Or maybe we could take a page from Sir Terry Pratchett and copy the speed of Darkness, mimicking how it is always already there whenever the Light leaves and already waiting when the Light arrives?

As for the vote ... I'm not sure, both options seem interesting: the water could get us new friends, but we know less about the ceiling. I also question the assumption that this will necessarily devolve into a fight; there are other types of conflict, after all.

Hmm. Take this as me voting for a tie, more than anything. I'll try to update my vote as necessary.

[X] Ceiling!

The ! at the end really adds to the voting atmosphere, yanno. Like are they happy? Are they righteous standing up for their vote? Are they simply excitedly yelling their position into the howling void that is the internet?

I like it.

[X] Ceiling!

I really like the idea of a "Boundary Blade". It's in theme and really sounds interesting. Also:

[X] Water!

I'm not familiar with that one; do you know where it's described?

Actually, I know there's a large post with a bunch of player suggested arts, but is there one for official arts we could potentially learn?
Here are the ones available to us in the unlearned tab. There were more but yrs only brought the ones we are more likely to learn into the new system.

Specifically Coldstar Blade Foundations is

A Martial Art originating from the Heavenly Peaks province, the Coldstar Blade Foundations are a simplified version of the core martial techniques of the Frozen Sun Sect, who dwell upon the higher peaks of the province and meditate on the dichotomy of being closer to the sun--and yet colder than those who dwell in less rarefied heights. As a Minor Sect who failed to gain Imperial Patronage, they have found themselves outcompeted by the Great Sects who now monopolize the young and talented of the Celestial Empire, and have distributed these teachings in an attempt to keep their methods alive. Experts in the Coldstar Blade Arts are known for their graceful movements and precision--sequestering the life and vitality of their foes before detonating it in all-powerful finishing strikes.

Base Potency G2
Yin, Cold, Fire
Keywords: Contrast, Cutting, Precision
Antithesis: Congruity, Harmony, Indiscriminate
Art Type: Offense

This would help bring our sword training into more respectable territory and explore the role of contrasts. Given the system change learning swordsmanship is no longer a complete waste of time, which is a plus. Additionally, given the description, we wouldn't need to create successors: they are already publicly available to any that want them.

Unfortunately I've pretty convinced that, given our current state of Arts to learn, CBF is a waste of time. This is going to take a lot of projects to complete and, even then, will merely be G4 and thus about to go out of date.

So Coldstar Blade Foundations? That's the Art that does it.

Thanks for the tip, I checked it out and while similar I think it's pretty different from what I visualized for what I called a Boundary Blade (made up name).

It wouldn't actually be a physical sword, or a way to wield swords but more of an advanced application of mastery over the liminal/isolation, though I'm not sure if that's even possible in the new system.

What I understood from the description was more of a conceptual blade, force born from simultaneous rejection of from two opposite planes. In the way that anything caught in-between the boundaries of Dark and Light would be torn by the double rejection, and essentially "cut".

… I hope this makes sense.

That sounds like a super advanced idea that would need a strong base of understanding in order to work. I doubt something like that can be stumbled upon and instead needs to be worked towards.

And if you are working towards something like that Cold Star Blade is your best bet for a foundation.
