Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
The Bai are also detractors of the current regime and are being cultivated as allies by the Cai. Meanwhile the Sun is siding with the Imperials (which includes the Sect).

Bai Meizhen actually warned us away from a career in the Sect, strongly implying that we might end up as enemies if we went that route.
The sect is filled with nobles that will probably side with their family. On the flipside, there are some clans that will side with the Mu instead on their local lord. Civil war are almost always messy like that though

The worst thing with introducing her now is that Su Ling doesn't want to be there and she will be unable to hide it from others. It's exactly the problem we had and it will hurt her reputation a lot. People are willing to give Ling Qi a second chance because she's CRX 's retainer, Su Ling will not be so lucky.

Update Summary:

Xuan Shi - So I'm pretty isolated but I noticed you're the Main Character
Xuan Shi - And I figured if I hung around enough I'd end up on your squad of quirky friends
Xuan Shi - End up developing friendships with them in dialogue snippets as we end up going on missions
Xuan Shi - Maybe also get a cool skill if you do my loyalty mission
Xuan Shi - Plus if I get really lucky you'll go for the 'Bookish Quiet Nerd' route and I can just coast into that without having to risk admitting to feelings on my own initiative

Even Shorter Summary:

Xuan Shi reads too many trashy in-universe xianxia novels and thinks he's one of the MC's side characters.

I mean... he's not wrong...

I like him though.

I mean, 55% of the nobles here are Weilu moderates. They follow the teachings of literal deer people. 20% are imperial conservatives, who hate our guts anyhow. They are also pretty explicitly biased against spirit bloods because of imperial policy.

We probably weren't ever going to be liked by the imperial conservatives anyway. They are decidedly anti-Bai, one thing. For another, most of our social circle has spirit animal ancestry. I doubt they'd approve of us treating spirit like people.
Bear in mind the percentages given in that update weren't referring to the views of the Emerald Sea nobility as a whole, just the Luo and their subordinates.

[X] Invite Su Ling to the training group. As the co-organizer, inviting a few close friends was allowed.

This wouldn't be a vote if it was just a courtesy invitation that Su Ling will turn down. But she must have a reason for accepting, and refusing to even let her know the option is a bit much.

I have not voted until now because the arguments of both sides left me unconvinced. I am still uncertain about what is best here, but in the end I'd rather give her the option to accept.

It's the fact he's gotten the idea by reading a series of trashy Xianxia novels that amuses me. Like, incredibly cliche ones, complete with Hidden Masters, secret OP cultivation methods that the MC gets along with ridiculous artefacts, a quirky cast and a romance with a tsundere type.

It amuses me that firstly, these types of novels exist in this world, and secondly that he's using them to inform his expectations.

[X] Invite Su Ling to the training group. As the co-organizer, inviting a few close friends was allowed.

Voting this way for three reasons:
1. Su Ling is going to be the centre of people's attention whether she attends social events or not - all the inner sect disciples are naturally going to be very interested in a student who got promoted mid year, which ordinarily never happens. Attending the training group is social interaction with training wheels on, and when Su Ling is prepared for socialising, rather than people springing it on her.
2. For those who keep an ear out for such things, her reputation will be high given her promotion is for meritorious sect service
3. Becoming a known quantity means that people are less likely to try socially interacting with Su Ling to gauge her, and the act of gauging her is almost certainly going to get her to mark that person as a scheming noble (irrespective of the veracity of that impression), and then her hackles will be raise. Most likely literally given her spirit blood.

Most importantly, while I'm sure we will try and encourage her to come, Ling Qi certainly won't force her, and will accept no for an answer. We even have the insights to allow for that now.

5/10 trashy xianxia novel, protagonist not psychopathic enough :p. (yes , I know there are a few where the protagonist is not a psychopath, but those tend to be the least trashy ones anyway, so my joke still stands)

I really don't get the argument that it's too early... She can make that decision for herself. Making that decision for her, especially without even letting her know about it, is extremely paternalistic and strikes me as liable to hurt LX's relationship with her in the future.

I think a lot of people are voting based around the idea that, as a meta-quest structure, if we vote for Su Ling invitation she'll be coming even if she isn't ready. I'm not certain of that, and I agree that it's paternalistic to not even give the option.

However! I think that it's okay for the vote to be somewhat unclear and for LQ to keep portraying her(our) vote decisions as guarantees until she comes to a better understanding and empathetic understanding of other people's decision making and how you can phrase offers in a way that doesn't sound like an Obligation for the person to indulge in

The thing is I think due to the quest format of the game, I don't think its like that at all. I think because its a quest, its like this:
Option for Invite= Su Ling attending the training group
Option for No Invite= Su Ling not attending the training group
I don't think Yrs would put this to vote and then just have Su Ling be like no thanks. As questmaster, he gives us options to vote on for what we want to see next. I saw these choices as a way to determine whether or not Su Ling will end up at the training group and I never expected there to be another option. Every time there's been a similar vote involving us looping in a friend on something, the friend has never turned us down. They end up joining every time, even when we know they don't want to.
Its a very meta way of looking at all this. Whoever wants to think of these matters in a strictly in-story way, that's fine. However, truth is we have the power as voters in the quest to make things happen that would not happen otherwise. Like, if we didn't vote for it in Forge, I doubt Ling Qi would've been able to convince Su Ling to come meet the GF group for training. Its very out of character for Su Ling to willingly put up with nobles anymore than she has to. It happened only because we voted for it...
...Does what I'm saying make sense? I don't view these things as paternalistic, its just that as a first time quester, I was under the impression that this was how things worked...
