Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

The rivermouth is the most potentially strategically important thing we've found. We can't learn nearly as much about their cultivation system in a few minutes of battle as we could letting the Elder's spiders spy for a while and witness some uninterrupted procedures.

It's also the most uncertain in terms of risk - we've heard higher levels of cultivation cost them more lifespan, and we know they can reach enough power to defeat a sect elder. Would a suicide attack from the officiant consist of eating the fattest worm and going Violet for a few fatal seconds before they deliquesce. Or wake the beast whose wound's effluvium is the river, if they don't care about collateral damage when Invaders are in their sanctum.

Between the village and the forward base, hitting the base directly would give the best view of their regular military forces, but not their response time, vs. hitting the village and seeing response time, but perhaps only a quick reaction force. Also not sure how much of a civilian target it is, or how much either side cares.

Is the forward base positioned so we couldn't get past it to the village without stealth arts we hope they are not expecting? The lack of heavy guards in the village suggests either that, or that they didn't expect anyone to get that deep at all.

[X] Support an attack on the forward base

Also, are we the grotesque star-corrupted baddies?:V

Damn rat's better be happy we ain't goin to their village and stealing all their gross babies.

This is going to be a quick hit and run right?
Because we don't have the personnel or ability to maintain a sustained attack.

[X] Support an attack on the forward base

This seems most in line with our mission objective and keeps attention away from the areas that are now bugged.

War is like a heist. What are we planning to steal?
Objective 1: Hide the spy constructs. Do not let them be found obviously.
Objective 2: Test their response to attack.
Objective 3: Attempt to retreat normally if possible
Metaobjective 1: Try not to give participants new heart demons if possible.
Metaobjective 2: Try not to make the overall war effort worse.

[] Support an attack on the village

Objective 1: Risked mildly. The Village is not a high strategic value target.
Objective 2: Weakly achieved. The village is not possessed of significant resistance ability, but we might be able to prove if melding is something they could achieve in battle.
Objective 3: Likely to succeed. Its a soft target.
Metaobjective 1: Su Ling has anchored her identity upon protecting the weak. If she persons them she's in for a bad time.
Metaobjective 2: This is likely to rile the heck out of their population.

Synopsis: Low risk, poor reward.

[] support an attack on the rivermouth

Objective 1: Risked greatly. This is a strategic asset in their backlines. They already had been rechecking the Wards. Any assault here would be picked through with a fine toothed comb.
Objective 2: Achieved significantly. This is their equivalent of a spirit stone mine, they're going to respond in force, and Qi detected Third realm equivalents in quantity.
Objective 3: Look at it this way, there are six of the assassin shishigui that nearly killed Ling Qi last time, and whatever the heck thats the Steel Inquisitor can detect Ling Qi's stealthing. We're probably going to need the escape talisman
Metaobjective 1: Seems fine that I can tell.
Metaobjective 2: Unclear, but destroying this facility seems less valuable than leaving it intact so Elder Jiao can study how they train and cultivate.

Synopsis: Wildcard

[] Support an attack on the forward base

Objective 1: Risked lightly, its their forward base. The assumption is going to be that we stalked their raiders home.
Objective 2: Strongly achieved. Its well defended, a five tower formation sounds a bit like a cultivator Star Fort, and they're going to be fairly well armed and ready to resist an attack.
Objective 3: Depends on the nature of the defenses. Some of us are likely to be hurt, possibly seriously, attacking a fortified position. Withdrawal in good order is not a given.
Metaobjective 1: So...a big siege target. And Zhengui with his big siege arts. Might be good for him?
Metaobjective 2: No strategic shift evident.

Synopsis: Attacking them at their strong point would normally be a dumb idea...if you weren't trying to test their defenses.

So that makes it:
[X] Support an attack on the forward base

This bit also really pushes for the advantage of attacking here.
"Just so, sir Xuan, it is quite heavily fortified, but if there is a fourth realm commander they are not immediately present,"
Its safe-er due to lack of immediate Fourth Realm combatant.

Also the response of their Fourth Realm combatants will possibly tell us which parts are the most important by which places they defend and how much goes where. Hopefully surprise and travel time will give us a good retreat opportunity.

Finally read through this thread and some of the Forge thread, because apparently I hate myself too much to use reader mode.

Anyway, Ling Qi's true priorities require her to stay in sync with the mission given, so,

[X] Support an attack on the forward base
