[X] Blurted out a request to spar instead, that helped cultivators understand each other, right?! [Lesser information and improved relationship with Bao Qian, Ling Qi spared a bad time]

[X] Carefully accepted. She had to begin dialing down her discomfort somewhere. [Potentially, Information and improved relationship with Bao Qian, Ling Qi uncomfortable, potentially negative outcome.]

The other goes against being free and unmovable.

Not sure why this is being treated as the inauthentic option. It would still be Ling Qi's own choice with her own reasons for it.

We want to be a master spy right? He's practically offering us to do so on a silver platter.
Guys come on we can fight like nobodies business and thats well and good but we need some thing that not even a brawl can provide.
Getting out of our comfort zone and perhaps being pleasantly surprised.

...Are you suggesting that accepting an invitation to dinner is a violation of our domain?

Was originally gonna vote for sparring because I want to see Bao in a fun spar

But then I saw a bunch of the arguments for that option and decided I didnt want to contribute towards a position I found viscerally offensive, even if its just by association.

I think the dinner would backfire too hard. Bao Qian needs to KNOW that Ling Qi genuinely prefers a discussion through sparring than a dinner date that'd be awkward for them both. Doubly so when she doesn't bother eating when she can help it.

His dating playbook didn't contain Ling Qis.
You usually don't court traumatized street rats.

Edit: changed my mind.

Personally I'm mainly going by our Insights: Sincerity is the measure by which the worthiness of the self and ones guests should be measured.

In the spar, both of them are being sincere.
In the dinner, Ling Qi isn't being sincere and theres nothing quite so awkward as a dinner date where one partner isn't comfortable talking about anything, and the other is fishing around trying to find a safe topic.

I mean, I think LQ is only being insincere if she pretends that she's having a good time when she isn't. Doing something you'd prefer not to do because it's important, useful, or you're deliberately trying to expand your comfort zone isn't insincere, it's mature.

The "accept invitation to dinner" option is not worded in such a way as to suggest that she is planning to lie. It's careful acceptance and beginning to dial down her discomfort, not "I will put on a false face."

I invoke Ling Qi's SCS insight: There is no peace in emptiness, no content in stillness. Stagnation is death; act, change, move, think, and grow until the very end. Do the thing Zhu Li Ling Qi.

If the dinner goes well, Ling Qi will find that such things aren't that bad, like how she discovered the mundane reality of the brothel she grew up in didn't live up to the spectres of her past. Regardless of how things turn out with Bao Qian, learning through exposure is valuable. If the dinner goes poorly, then Ling Qi will still learn from it and be better equipped moving forwards. Win/win, honestly.

I'm sure she'll be very sincerely uncomfortable.
