Gotta agree. In my experience there are two ways to do romance well in quests, to not to do it at all and to give people options near the start with no build-up to decide in one vote then QM is free to develop that relationship as it fits. Dragging it out never ever goes well.Even though that random guy doesn't really have a chance, I'd rather not touch romantic shenanigans at all. It's a source of stress for me and I don't want to feel stressed while reading a story I really like.
Honestly that's why I voted for the opposite. The sooner we make a decision regarding romance the sooner we can be alone and live vicariously through Meizhen's much more successful love life. Running from it will have it taper off unsatisfyingly while confronting it will let Ling Qi decide that romance simply isn't for her. We tell everyone we'll entertain getting a husband when we need one and then don't have that hanging over our head like the Sword of Damocles.Even though that random guy doesn't really have a chance, I'd rather not touch romantic shenanigans at all. Erm, LQ is actually fairly romantic under her trauma. Her biggest gripe with arranged marriages is that she feels that it should be more then just a business transaction. Aka she wants a romance, it is just that her hang ups are stopping her from actually looking for one.Honestly that's why I voted for the opposite.
