Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Once again no battle with our friends I guess. And I guess the LQ must lose club will get their will when Lanlan and/or Zhengui ends up crippled or dead.

There is no need for the fatalism. Xiulan and Zhengui can take care of themselves. If they really are outmatched they know how to hide and flee, too. They are not helpless without us.

Xiulan is a glass cannon last we looked, and Zhengui's whole thing is that he can't flee and is a sitting duck whose main weakness is against kiting enemies, whose best example in the settings are cloud nomads. They are basically hard countered here.

The one hope we have is that Zhengui dig underground and hide with Xiulan while the village goes up in flame and everyone else dies.

On another hand we pretty much abandioned our post with this and if they actualy do attack with anything resembling numbers of this raid party we shure would have loved being there to back them up.

That is, if the amount of enemies that attacks that village is as big as the ones that attacked the current village we are on, which is not certain. What does concern me is their strategy of baiting the enemy actually works on Xiulan and she goes out to try and destroy them, falling for their trap. I do believe Zhengui can protect Xiulan, and maybe, they can extert enough pressure together to force the barbarians to retreat, just like Ling Qi did in this village.

Plus, so far, I belive Yris mentioned Zhengui was currently doing fine. Which either means he hasn't been attacked yet, or that he is enduring the assault just fine. A single update won't be enough to completely maim/criple him, even in the worst case scenario. If he gets in danger and it looks like the village is going to fall, it is more likely that a new messenger will come find us with a "LQ, you need to go back to your village ASAP and bail your friends out of trouble, things are looking dire!!" Then we will have the choice to stay here and finish the enemy, or disengage and go to help them. It is my prediction, at least.

You know, I was going to vote for the "Return" option just before Yrs locked it, but after seeing the last couple of posts made after locking, I'm glad I didn't.

"Return" was not a BAD option, mind you. It just was not necessarily the ONLY good option.
This is not a failure on our part. If it is, Yrs will let us know when the update comes ,but I am confident we did not mess up here.

If "Return" had won, I would hav been fine with it. But I am more fine with going to help out at 3rd village.

I mean, what Zhengui showed was bad anti-air capability. He has artillery. He's unlikely to actually hit anything at range though. I don't see why that would panic them.
Yup, his artillery tech is really bad at anti air. OTOH, we saw all of zero attacks against flyers by others. I'm not saying that it'd cause panic, but the difference between zero risk (until you swoop in) and a small risk is pretty steep proportionally and if the barbs aren't attacking literally every possible target than it does make sense that they'd hit ones that seemed softer.

Well, this is a shame. I was hoping we'd have a chance to connect, however briefly, with the young man whose life we likely saved. Imagine the social links!

Indeed, spite voting is a time honoured tradition.

We actually saw anti-air from Shen Hu before, and let's be honest, we have never seen anyone before that didn't have some kind of blaster tech. Even Ji Rong has one.

The only option that was assured to not mess up was the 'Wait' option. 'Hunt' option also has the advantage that we will succeed at a simple goal no matter what, and if the Bardbarian is escaping by going through our village, we'd have the bonus of saving it too.

No, help other village was the only option where we decide to gamble with the lives of our friends and ignore our duty because we want to be a completionist.

Still, things might not be all bad. Maybe the barbarian raid was only one strong attack and bardbarian isn't going to go through our village while leaving, so we our extreme gamble will luck out. Or maybe for the first time in two threads we get actual consequences, but we get lucky and Xiulan/Zhengui are only in coma for a few months, while Ling Qi is forbidden from going up in rank or taking duties until next year because of derilection of duty.

Recent discussions in the Discord have somewhat changed my mind to an extent. I misunderstood the situation in the 3rd village. I thought the Commander would be there, fighting against some sort of final boss encounter in which we'd be able to help out. But the commander is not there and I misread it all. I blame my reading comprehension. I am more favorable to agreeing with 'going to the 3rd village' being not as valuable option now. Hopefully it was only one strong attack as you said. I still feel like those consequences you expect are still a tad excessive. Or at least, I want to hope so.

Iin the previous version of this post, the options were "Pursue enemy" and "Search and rescue allies". None of those choices would have doomed Xiulan and Zhengui either. I really doubt Yris is going to drastically change what he intended to happen in the places we weren't going to be visiting in the previous version of the update.

Currently, i'm hoping the third village, and ours, are fine and this was the only major warband.
Because if there is a warband there, it feels like it would be odd there to not be a third as well, unless the villages hit have some importance we are not aware of.
If there is a major attack like this one, i don't really see Xu Giulan and Zhengui driving it off easily wihout us.
But i doubt there will be huge consequences either way long term, they'll muddle through somehow.

Man I should have voted.

Second time I've done this now, where I've thought it was a given that the thread would vote a certain way, and so didn't bother voting only to be blindsided when the thread didn't do what I expect.

First time was a vote when Best Snek was an option and I took it as a given she was going to win.

I mean... it's 10 minutes to one village, 20 at most back to ours if it's quiet there. I trust Xiulan and Zhengui to not die for half an hour.

It may also be faster if LQ actually uses her active techs.

20 minutes, if we don't get bogged down fighting barbarians.
And if we do, and all three villages get hit, i doubt it will take 20+ minutes for barbarians warband to destroy lot of a village and surrounding farms with hit and run tactics even with Chengui and Xiulan protecting it.
Worst case scenario, Xiulan and Zhengui get seriously hurt.
Bad case scenario, our village gets levelled while Ziulan and Chengui fail to protect it because they lack mobility and then we get yelled at for messing up by running of to be a protagonist.
Neutral scenario, nothing happens in either location.
Good case scenario, all villages get hit, but Chengui and Xiulan are enough to repel one attack or atleast delay it long enough for us to get back from the third village.
Best case scenario our village gets away unscathed, and we save a second village in a single day like a big damn hero.

Kinda hoping for neutral or good outcomes.

So on more light hearted news, if anyone's not following it there's a new Royal Road chapter that just came out, entirely new content that is, and everyone should go read it right now.

It's about Zhengui and god our Precious is just the best.

IKR??? Isn't he adorable!???!??!?

I just want Zhengui to be be happy. We need to get him some nice fields to snack on, or maybe a fun fight he can win. I dunno, I just want precious to be happy. Maybe he can come and try to fix all the burnt fields, something so we can show how proud we are of best boy.
