Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

The worst case is that Ling Qi gets bogged down dealing with a minor threat at one village and leaves the major threat at the other village unchecked.
that's a good point, but we stabilized this area and we can trust Lanlan and Zhengui to stabilize their area. We should check the unknown village now, because if they need help it'll be more important than the 5-10 minutes we lose trying to get the information ourselves. Honestly if vil 3 is stable we should run back to vil 1 I think. It's our responsibility and vil 2 *should* be fine now even if that force comes back. Shen Hu and his spirit are no joke, and now he has a spirit weapon too so like. I trust him. And I trust Lanlan+zhengui. We just gotta make sure vil 3 is stable and then head back to our post. No point in waiting if only one place is potentially unstable

It seems strange to me that just because they're part of the main cast Xiulan and Zhengui should be better trusted to secure their positions than our supposed peers in the final village.

I think you're gravely overestimating Xiulan and Zhengui.

Zhengui is pretty useless against a barbarian attack, lacking any good anti-air capability. Xiulan is significantly weaker than Shen Hu, and a lot less well suited to base defense. She is a delicate glass cannon. Zhengui can't act as a shield nearly as well against flying enemies.

If there're just spirits though then yeah, probably alright - though that can be a dice roll depending on the exact spirits.

hanyi hid under zhengui, I'm sure lanlan can figure that out.
Zhengui has been working on AA with Lanlan specifically. I think it'll be fine, flak cannons are great
and Lanlan is pretty much all the AA he'll need, so long as he can successfully buff and shield her when she needs it

  1. Hanyi was just siren calling people on the ground, she wasn't throwing projectiles from her hands. The requirements are very different.
  2. Zhengui doesn't have flak. He has artillery, and then short range projectile attacks.
  3. Zhengui is not us. He does not have TRF. He does not have any group buffs. Ashfall only helps us because our bond makes us immune to it.

Flak is what he was working on with Lanlan. He was working on an AA tool with her offscreen, 80% sure
lanlan won't need defending the whole time, but a spot that's safe for her to recover that also has heals (zhengui heals) is good.
ashfall might be synergystic or counter productive, hard to know. More likely it hurts but Lanlan likes hurt? soo, I duno

Well, if we want to be meta then there's always the argument that yrs is much less likely to kill Xiulan and Zhengui than a bunch of randos.
The better argument would be that originally returning wasn't an option although I don't think either are particularly good. Xiulan could lose an eye and if it hasn't been written yet nothing is set in stone.

I just feel bad for any spirits that might be riled up, LQ isn't exactly in a great mood.

Well, if we'e being meta, then I would rather risk some randos died than have a Named character get permanently damaged (we sunk good Socials on Xuilan!) especially when said Named character is part of our explicit responsibility.

I'd rather have randos take the fall.

Hmm, we rejected the idea before, but with the numbers yrsillar just gave us there is a case for going half way to our village and then doing a scry check...

If we saw that things were fine, and decided to turn around and head for the NE village, the scry check would save us ten minutes of travel. The villages are by a river, so it shouldn't take long to grab some water for it ...

So, uh, with the given distances, we should be able to readily fly up and see if the other villages are on fire.

Even if the distances are increased, given our ability to fly up to get a good vantage point we should be able to tell if a village is on fire from like ~10-20km out.

People have been bringing up Zhengui both as a reason the raiders would and wouldn't attack our village, but here's a question: would they even know Zhengui is a legendary beast? Xuan Wu are northern and any Xuan in the south probably aren't serving in the military, they could easily have no idea that turtle snakes are anything all that special.

They'll see it as something they don't see everyday is what it is. Although I'm inclined to believe that the volcanic turtle (Zhengui's dad) used to be owned by a Cloud barbarian.

Well yrsillar's previously had Zhengui almost be poisoned and Xiulan almost kill herself, both happening off screen. I don't remember ever hearing of such things about strangers, wouldn't be as dramatic :p
