In 2360, at the end of a blood-soaked war started by a martyred dictator, the power-hungry CEO of Stahl Industries unleashed a genocidal weapon on the inhabitants of Helghan. In the months that followed, blood and water flowed in equal measure as tyrant battled tyrant until, at last, the people cried out as one and those that would see them ground underfoot were silenced.

Since those seven days in May and the Adenium Revolution that followed, much has changed on Helghan...

Article:
With the conclusion of the Augrian civil war, Helgan Republic High Command was forced to swallow a bitter pill: They were not ready for a real war. While the Helgan military dominated the battlefield, analysts quickly realized that this was due to facing merely a portion of what many considered a second if not third rate power and doing so with overwhelming numbers. This lead to the launch of a number of programs meant to both enhance the military and improve Heglan's security; one of which was the Next Generation Arsenal program.

The NGA program was made of three research Divisions: Battlemech, Aerospace, and Conventional warfare. While the Titan rendered the Battlemech effort the most famous, the Aerospace division was able to come up with its own success story in the Daga Space superiority fighter.

The Daga was developed by Helgan State Arms with the assistance of a veteran mercenary Pilot by the name of Reuban Hale. under contract with the Helgan empire to escort logistical convoys during the days leading up to the Terracide, Hale was caught up in the event and forced to throw in a with a rebel group during the Empire's failing effort to maintain power in the face of mass rebellion. In one of the final battles of the conflict, he was shot down by a Loyalist ace who had fixated on his bomber.

His public criticism of Helgan's fighter designs drew the interest of the NGA-Aerospace project leaders and saw him recruited out of retirement to assist with developing an Aerospace fighter capable of filling the gap found in Helgan's fighter fleet.

At its core, the Daga is built as a high mobility dogfighter able to maintain absolute control of engagement ranges against slower fighters while still having the armour and weapons to make attacking it suicide for anything faster than it. The comparatively long range offered by the Stahl Arms Pike-12 Large Lasers allows a flight of Daga fighters to pick apart enemy bomber formations with ease from beyond their escorts effective range unless they break off from their charges and attempt to force a dogfight... thereby playing right in a skilled pilot's hands.

The Marshall is a 50 meters long and 2,000 Tons beast of a ship. It was created by the Helghan Republic after the Aurigan Civil War and the lead up into the assault on the Capellan Confederation. After the Helghan Republic aquired the structural and armor technology to match the levels of the IS factions the creation of smaller Naval Vessels became possible. While nowhere near the combat ability of the FTL equipped and much larger warships of the Navy the Marshall class is much cheaper to produce. Copying the IS method of attaching dropships to Jumpships the Helghan Navy has assigned Marshalls to escort convoys and fleet task forces by attaching to the larger vessels. At only a tenth of the size of the main Helghan Cruisers, Arc Cruisers, Guided Missile Cruisers, Carriers and cargo/colony ships the Marshall is deployed in at least a pair per side per ship in a convoy or task force. As they lack any FTL drive like normal IS dropship they also form the SDF (System Defense Force) of any system under Helghan Republic control or protection. It is heavily armed and armored to survive engagements against any raiding force of pirates and is even enough to make the militaries of the IS and Periphery wary of attacking Helghan possessions. The main drive to create the Marshall and its smaller Cousin the Sheriff Class to spread out the protection details of the Navy without having to assign the more limited FTL ships. The advanced Anti-Grav Ring installed allows for higher output and performance than a comparable Inner Sphere Dropship with the same equipment but cannot stand up to larger dropships or overwhelming numbers of ASFs.

@prometheus110 Here are the Militia units we created with the artwork commissioned for them. Created for us by the StephenHuda - Hobbyist, Digital Artist | DeviantArt

And on my own page for the rest of the units we have had made including the Titan Battlemech. Adventwolf5 User Profile | DeviantArt

Article:

When the Republic began rendering aid to the Aurigan restoration they gained a more accurate image of the effect the war was having on militia forces of the Reach; namely how much the war had already crippled their ability to fight off even the weakest of pirate bands. In response, the military offered research grants to various companies to develop inexpensive Armored Fighting vehicles for export to Helgan's trading partners.

Liversten Heavy Industries was the first to accept one of the offered research grants and rapidly set to work despite not having much of a history of military products. What they did have however was a great deal of experience in constructing industrial vehicles that would be shipped as a collection of parts to the worksite and assembled by the end-user. Their engineering staff quickly seized on institutional experience to guide the design of what would become the Lobo series of Combat Vehicles.

The design of the Lobo allows LHI to produce each distinct segment of the tank on its own production line before either assembling them at the factory to ship as a completed unit or by shipping the parts to the buyer where a team of poorly trained militia technicians can assemble the Lobo using nothing but a forklift and hand tools. This style of construction allows for ease of customization nearly unheard of in the Inner Sphere as the modular construction style means that a buyer simply needs to order the right modules to configure the chassis into the needed role: from a humble APC to a Mech hunter optimized for ambush tactics.

Article:

The Leo is meant as a stronger more powerful option for the militia units in both the Helghan Republic and the IS neighbors they have. Similar to the Lobo it is usually sold with the Leo main battle tank and SPG variants are becoming a common sight across the Periphery as exports and sales continue.

The second Company to successfully produce a platform for Helgan's efforts to rearm the Aurigan Reach was the newly formed Mir Industrial Union. While on paper lacking any history of military production the company had successfully poached a number of engineers from more established companies and quickly hired a number of tankers and technicians who had served previously in the Helghan military. This effort allowed them to rapidly prototype what many would call a boring but practical 50-ton tank chassis.

While slow for its size the Leo quickly proved in tests to live up to the Helghan military's desire for simple and reliable designs. the MIU 200 Fuel cell engine childishly simple in design compared to many of the other engines developed during this time and MIr Industrial's decision for almost excessive redundancy in the electronics package meant that tank was able to remain combat capable longer than the other medium tank designs offered for High Command's consideration.

The built in CASE system is actually the most 'innovative' of its features as MIU combined the cellular storage system with a new take on the old concept of Wet Storage via a newly developed Fire retardant gel that also served as a lubricant for the autoloader. This leads to the Leo having a lower chance of weapon jams and a higher threshold for ammo cook-offs.

Article:
The Missile Cruiser of the Helghan Republic Navy is the first new design built using knowledge and reversed engineered technology from the new universe the Republic found themselves in. At 500 meters long it is in line with the rest of the main naval ships of the Republic.

Using more advanced and stronger armor and structural materials as well as the newly developed Fusion Drive instead of the old chemical rockets used on older designs the Missile Cruiser is both sturdier and faster than the original ships of the old Helghan Empire.

It also carries weapons that are league beyond the old Empire. The primary and most powerful weapon on board is the Petruiste Lance. A weapon developed from the ARC towers and ARC cannon used in the Invasion of Helghan by the ISA. It was built with the idea of maximizing the penetration and damage of its petrusite blast at the cost of completely burning out its generator and a drastically shorter range. Much larger and far more potent the cost was the inability to reach the enemy without bringing the ship in close. This issue was circumvented by using an old WWIII idea by one of the designers the Casaba Howitzer a directed nuclear blast weapon. The idea led to a Multi-ton missile housing to carry the Petrusite Lance into range. Unleashing highly compressed beam of Petrusite at velocities best measured in double digit kilometres per second to rip apart any ship it faced. The fact that Petrusite has the ability to bypass the armor in use by the IS and transfer more of its damage directly into the internals of units makes it one of the Republics best defense against aggression.

The second set of weapons that are completely new are the laser weapons created from studying the IS laser weapons. While the Helghan Laser do the same amount of damage and similar levels of heat produced they are not copies. The Helghan targeting and computer systems are much better than their IS counterparts allows for a range hit increase of several levels. With small lasers see 200% increase in effective hit range, Medium a 100% increasing, and Large a 50% increase. This allows any laser equipped ship to fight at ranges that would be considered outrageous to the current IS mindset. Unfortunately due to the shear volume and mass of the multiple Lance launchers and Missiles themselves bring the total number of lasers down and most are only small and medium.

The final set of weapons aren't new but simply upgraded versions of the autocannons already in use by the Helghan Republic and the Empire before them. Using newly developed coating and feed systems created from study of IS cannons and Battlemech ammo storage the new autocannons of the Republic are both longer lasting and faster firing. Like with the lasers the advanced Helghan targeting and computer systems give the Helghan cannons better range and hit accuracy compared to the IS. Along with more powerful explosives materials and propellants based on IS technology the newest autocanons are an order of magnitude more effective than ISW II era weapon systems.

This new cruisers was built on the notion of pure firepower delivery as such it cargo and leech pods were severely reduced and completely removed respectively. This brought down the crew requirements and provided the space needed for the new weapon systems. As well as the new systems the ship was equipped with the latest FTL/Anti-Gravity Ring system. This allowed the cruiser to move with the rest of the fleet and move fast and more maneuverable compared to what its engine should be capable of. It also gave the ship the ability to enter the atmosphere of planets and land on the surface if the need required it to do so. Though the original prototype and first generation of the Missile Cruisers weren't too impressive the hull and concept were solid and all new versions with updated systems and technology looked the same with only minor differences in appearance.

"Titan" Heavy Mech
@prometheus110 here is the story and pictures for the Titan as well as the TROs for the Primitive Titan, the Export Laser Titan, and the future Standard Titan. I have named each the TTN-1HR, TTN-1HRL, and TTN-2HR respectively. These pictures were created for us by the artist StephenHuda - Hobbyist, Digital Artist | DeviantArt

And on my own page for the rest of the units made so far and any future designs. Adventwolf5 User Profile | DeviantArt

Article:

The first native BattleMech designed by the Helghan Republic. Using wholly native production and technology. Seeing the need for some sort of mech that could be used to make the Helghan military more familiar to the natives of the Inner Sphere and Periphery work began in earnest once the bare minimum knowledge of armor and structure was acquired using data and simulations that had been in work for years prior. The design was one of many that were created and tested in the lab simulations but due to constraints on budget only one Mech design could be created for prototyping and testing. The Titan TTN-1HR was chosen as that Mech.

Created alongside Ogoun Heavy Industries all parts are of Helghan design with the Long-Range Missiles and Petrusite Cannon licensed from other Helghan companies. The Mech while still using primitive levels of armor and a primitive cockpit of 5 tons instead of the normal 3 tons which can be swapped out for a normal cockpit later. It is in every other aspect an adequate platform. Carrying 12 and a half tons of primitive armor that can be swapped out later for standard armor once developed. This gives the Titan a good amount of protection.

The Engine is a Petrusite Reactor that allows for a fast-enough movement and power supply. Using a pair of Stahl Arms StA-5 L.R.M.s for long-range indirect/direct fire support. It also mounts a Hephaestus VC9HL-Heavy Petrusite Cannon for armor-piercing hits at PPC range. For Medium to short-range are 3 of the native Helghan Medium Lasers developed by Ogoun Heavy Industries that have a 100% increased range compared to IS models. Mostly due to the far superior computer systems and targeting programs of the Helghan. The Computers and the nature of the Petrusite weapon are what make this mech a standout.

An export model of the Titan TTN-1HRL that comes equipped with a Helghan Large Laser instead of the Petrusite Cannon and two extra heat sinks. That can be sent to other states if the market can be created. The export Titan has the ability to be equipped with an IS PPC. The export models are not the best around, but they would give most periphery nations added firepower. Both models are also useable for training purposes to help develop more pilots. Which is what the Helghan are mostly using it for as they have to first further develop the combined arms doctrine before more units can be deployed.

As the first native design, the Mech is the only one in use by the Helghan Republic small Mech Corps. Despite their small numbers the training and tactics used by these new mechwarriors are on par with any regular Inner Sphere equal. Mostly due to the intensive training provided by the Mercenary Company "The Marauders". The best of them are made a part of Nova Company: Maik Lehner, Adelar Essig, Kuno Redler, Kerstin Nadelmann, Seraphine Schutz, and Hanna Scholl along with their leader Hugo Novak.

Due to Helghan Industry being intact and far more comprehensive compare to Inner Sphere or even Star League Standards the Titan only cost 4/5 of its supposed cost if built in Helghan factories. This lower production cost allows for more to be built and to sell at a lower price to make the Titan more attractive to possible buyers. It is also hoped that the production of a new Battlemech and positive results in combat will open the doors to collaborations with allied Nations in creating or recreating designs to help expand the armed forces of the Periphery.

The upgraded version of the Titan is the TTN-2HR which is upgraded with standard cockpit and armor freeing up two tons for more heatsinks or two more tons of ammo for the LRMs. When the standard version was finally ready only about half the TTN-1HR versions were upgraded as the rest were completely regulated to only training commands. It was also designed to be supplemented by lighter standard mechs for trooper and scout roles.

With the development of the double heat sinks the plans to refit the standard mechs of the Helghan Mech Corps were approved. Along with the Princeps 45 tonner, the Titan 60 tonner was given a minor refit to make the most of the new DHS while not majorly changing the platform as that would have required a much larger effort and new factory builds to implement. The refit package chosen was one that would be simple enough that current stocks of Titans and Princeps could undergo the process thus removing the need for replacement builds from the factories.

The new Titan model named the 3HR reduced the total heatsinks from 14 to 12 but provided 70% more heat management. This combined with the removal of one of the LRM-5s and upgrading the remaining one to an LRM-15 with the same amount of ammo in the right torso with CASE allowed for a more consistent fire cycle. These changes improved the Titan turning it from a somewhat underpowered testbed to a well-rounded, acknowledged, and generally well-regarded war machine.

The upgrades to the Princeps were created in the same vein as those of the Titan. The 14 single heatsinks were replaced with 10 Double Heatsinks with 9 of them being mounted in the engine. This more than covers the heat curve of the Princep making it cold running even with the use of the jumpjets. The lasers were not changed as the sandblasting effect and the ability to take out large amounts of infantry at once was deemed sufficient. The SRM-4 WASP launchers on the other hand did get an upgrade by replacing them with more powerful SRM-6 WASP Launchers with an extra ton of ammo to cover the increased ammo use per shot. This makes the new Princeps even more of a danger in a close in fight.

Article:

The Hasta Class Cruiser was created to replace the old Helghast Cruiser of the Second Extra-Solar War. Like the old workhorse cruiser the the new Hasta was also built by Thoralf-Sigurd-Vig. It is slated to become the corner stone of the Navy. They will replace the the old workhorse cruisers as more are brought online. With the workhorse cruiser being regulated to third line duties of transport and sold off as surplus to allied nations.

While the new Cruiser is slightly shorter than the old model at only 450 meters long it still has a similar mass of 500,000 tons. It was also created with the ability to carry two dropship with it during a warp jump. These dropships would either be escort ships or transport depending on what hat the Hasta is wearing for its specific mission.

The Hasta was built using the newly developed technologies and systems that were more refined from those used on the new Toxotai Class as well. A new more protected armor belt created from the next level of reversed engineered IS armor gives the Hasta vastly greater protection than what was available before. The internal structures were also designed to make use of new materials to strengthen and reduce the volume needed.

The greatest increase to the Hasta was the replacement of the old chemical rocket engines for the same kind of fusion drive engines used on the Toxotai. While still very large they don't take up nearly as much mass and space. Which frees up the ship to be able to carry the increased demand of spare parts to keep the engines and ship running. The new engines allow the Hasta to move at twice the speed of the old workhorse.

Another improvement over the workhorse is that the Hasta is able to carry a full Squadron of 12 fighters in a dedicated Fighter bay unlike the old Cruiser which carried the fighters by locking them onto the Hull and could not be recovered and rearmed quickly. This allows the Hasta better flexibility in its deployment.

The final major upgrade to the Hasta was the revamping of its offensive systems. Using all the newest weapons developed by Helghan research the Hasta is a deadly combat vessel. All the old autocannons ammo have been remade using the stronger propellants and explosives as well as new feeding systems to increase fire rate. The inclusion of all three laser weapons gives the Hasta greater amounts of energy weapons than even the Vaulted UCA Cruisers which were more than twice the size of the old workhorse cruisers. The missile systems used on the Hasta had their warheads upgraded with the more potent explosives as well increasing their lethality potential. The Hasta also carries with it 200 marines for shipboard security and using the 20 Leech Pods to board and take over enemy vessels.

While the current model of the Hasta is still designed to be the primary transport for the deployment of Helghan Divisions future models are planned to replace that carrying capacity for larger engines, more powerful weapons, and larger hanger bays. Even if the troop deployment aspect of the Hasta is replaced it still has the abilities of operating in atmosphere and landing or taking off from the surface of a planet. The powerful anti-gravity drive also decreases the amount of fuel required to operate.

As the new standard the Hasta frame will remain the basis for all upgraded warships of the Helghan Navy. With potential sub-capital weaponry being looked into as full scale Naval Weaponry outside native Petrusite research being far too advanced for current development the next few versions of the Hasta are planned to be true warships.

Article:

This is the new standard Medium mech for the Helghan Republic. Obviously built off of the prior Titan mech. This 45 ton medium is built to sandblast other mechs and to rip apart infantry formations with its 9 Small Lasers. It is smaller and faster as it is meant to be a more refined design while still showing that the Helghan Republic is still learning about mech production. Since the Helghan Laser have the boosted range and the Helghan FCS is so advanced this thing acts as if it has Artemis IV FCS on the SRMs and like it is equipped with a Targeting Computer without having to install them. Making it a very deceptively powerful medium if no one pays attention.

Overview:
In the wake of the Titan's creation and deployment the Republic's Mech Development team were quickly tasked with expanding the Helghan military's mech stable with a less expensive and easier to pilot model as the Titan was noted to be somewhat of a challenge for less experienced pilots to operate.
With significant input from when the Marauders' chief technician Yang Virtanen was still under the employ of the Republic and the company's medium mech pilots the Princeps was built as a simple mech intended to shine in the hands of both a novice and a veteran.

Capabilities:
The Princeps comes equipped with seven Helghan Hel-pattern Small Lasers with plus 200 percent enhanced range that is standard and two Stahl Arms/StA-S4 W.A.S.P micro-missile launchers (Helghan SRMs) for short-range punch. With 2 tons of ammo protected by Helghan style CASE capable of quick swapping for special ammo in the right torso. In addition the machine carries fourteen single heat sinks to maintain sustained laser fire indefinitely. The many small laser with their vastly increased range compared to normal means the Princep can fire earlier and with all its laser sandblast the armor of most light and medium mechs opening them up for the follow up W.A.S.P. missiles to destroyer the internal structure and critical systems.

Mounting the effective max amount of armor available for its frame at nine and a half tons the Princeps is as well protected as any medium mech in the Inner Sphere. The Princep mounts a smaller reactor/engine than what the Titan uses but the lowered tonnage means the speed is greater. It also comes equipped with 4 newly developed Helghan Jumpjets for a 120 meter jumping distance adding to it maneuverability. Like the Titan the Princeps also has the Helghan superior computer systems and targeting programs for both the Lasers and the missile systems. This gives the Princeps excellent accuracy and situational awareness. The greatest advancement made with the Princep over the Titan is the inclusion of lower arms and basic hands. This allows the unit to serve a greater variety of roles and functions. These hands while basic weren't the best that could be made but were the easiest and most effective ones by cost to ability metrics. Their development and construction would allow for the information and experience to make the more advanced hands cheaper to create allowing future mech designs to have more human-like hands.

Battle History:
Fully developed and entering production shortly after the Titan entered service the Princeps have seen major actions only with Helghan deployed forces or Mercenary commands. The Princeps have also been very useful in defending and countering the pirate attacks that still plague the Periphery. They have proven to be the armored fist the Helghan Republic needed to break the back of several pirate bands operating near their territory and expansion corridors.

Deployment:
Deployed alongside Titans the Princeps is a common sight on Republic worlds and colonies. Due to the experience and cheaper nature of the development of the Princep, it is also seen in more worlds and in greater numbers. There is some discussion on exporting the design to allied states but with native designs already available this is not considered to bear much fruit.

Variants:
PRIN-1HR, PRIN-2HR

Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:
Not being the flagship design of the Republic and only seeing actions against mostly pirates limits the number of exceptional pilots. Those that do show promise are transferred to the Novas as elite of the Helghan pilots program.

Article:

The Damascus class was developed from the ISA cruiser used to invade Helghan. Like the rest of the ISA arsenals the Helghan Republic had the plans, data, and samples of the ship left over from the Invasion. Even during the Civil War this massive amount of technology and equipment wasn't left to rot but was collected and stored by both sides of the conflict. This was seen as a simple matter of whoever won would need the technology anyways.

The new Damascus was redesigned to serve as a ASF carrier instead of creating another combat and transport ship a role already filled by the Workhorse, Arc, Hasta and Triarius Arc Cruisers before the Halestorm Regimental Transport took over the troop carrying aspect of the Navy. This shift was not that difficult as the structure and bays for transporting the ISA army were easy to modify for fighter operations. Due to the unique method of station keeping the ISA Cruiser was built around it was required that the system be repurposed. The laser engine and bombardment weapon were completely stripped out as it was not needed for a Carrier.

The engine was replaced with a newer and more powerful fusion drive along with adding a more advanced fusion reactor than what the original came equipped with. The power that used to go to the primary laser engines now goes to the fighter bays and newly installed laser grid. This also changed removed the vertical aspect of the old ISA Cruiser as it was no longer needed.

The Damascus was also upgraded with a new more advanced warp drive and anti-gravity ring. This was installed to the rear of the Damascus and with the new wings installed as well to allow for greater speed and maneuverability. The new designs for the ASF Corps are able to be deployed from the multiple bays along the ship's body. For the movement and the repair and rearming of fighter both in and out of combat the ship is equipped with a series of rapid elevator and rail systems. This was based off the information that the Helghan Republic retained both from their own fighter operations but also the hundreds of years of carrier and fighter operations that had existed in the old universe.

Because the new ship was built to be a carrier first and foremost it wasn't created with any intention of eventually adding a large amount of naval weapons. Even when those weapons were developed the armament of the Damascus type stayed fairly light for a ship of 550,000 tons. The majority of its weapons are of standard size and meant to keep it safe from enemy ASF and missile strikes rather than fighting directly against other warships. The Damascus main weapon and power came from the 120 Fighters it could bring to any battlefield. A single Damascus can overwhelm almost any system and a squadron of them would deploy more fighters in a single battle than some star nations have in total.

Since the ship is fairly exposed the Damascus was built with the ability to carry a pair of dropships for added escorts. As one of the more important ships in the Navy the carrier is also slated to be one of the first to be equipped with a new Petrusite energy shield once the technology is better refined. This would make the Damascus the smallest ship in the Navy to be equipped with these defenses as the shield tech is limited to planned Battlecruisers and Battleships as the investment into those ships require that they be protected heavily.

Article:

One of the early mechs developed by the Helghan Republic. The Equites was envisioned as a defensive light mech meant to support other forces during operations. Using the MAWLR walking warship as inspiration and template the Equites was also the first new Quad mech introduced into the Inner Sphere and Periphery. Lacking the ingrained stigma on quad mech designs and with the Helghan people's own love for quadrupled machines it was seen as a natural choice for the first light mech to be on four legs.

With the influx of data from both the deployment of Helghan Mechs and aid from the allied Nations Helghan engineers and scientists were able to streamline and improve the quality of new Helghan designs. The Equites as a 30 ton mech was built with the ability to mount either a Petrusite Reactor or a Fusion Engine depending on if the user wished to equip Petrusite weapons or conventional weapons. With a top speed of 97.2 km/h the mech was considered adequate in the speed department.

The Equites was created as an export mech and garrison unit. As such while it is the 3rd variant mech created solely by the Republic. Created rapidly after the release of the Princeps it was being shipped out and used across all of Helghan space and with independent and allied Nations. As a simple and most importantly cheap mech it found a willing market, but the majority are still mostly in the service of the Helghan military and aligned mercenary commands.

As the Equites was created with simple well understood tech it was easier to create and build. Mounting 7 tons of standard Solar Guard armor provides high protection for a light mech. Equipped with a Helghan developed weapons like the lighter model 90mm Tartarus Autocannon 5 created by Ougon Industries and two blitz medium lasers the Equites can deal with most light duties and combat as is its purpose. As with all Helghan built machines the FCS and electronics are of superior quality than Inner Sphere models so combined with better lenses on the Helghast laser the range of the medium lasers is increased by 100%. The Light Autocannon being somewhat shorter and smaller than the normal AC/5 still has 88% of the range because of the FCS.

Used as export and garrison the Equites has mostly only seen combat on numerous pirate raids that weren't expecting to face off against company sized formation on formally defenseless worlds. While some units are in use by frontline commands as the Mech Corps of the Republic is still young and relatively small they are regulated to backup machines while the heavier Titans and Princeps are still the primary Battlemechs.

Due to the cheaper technology and Helghan high production rates the Equites are sold and sent out in company sized formations for just about 20 million C-Bills worth. While still a lot for the poorer worlds in the periphery the Helghan Republic's willingness to extend credit and loans to worlds insures that they are purchased in great numbers. That these worlds also see increased Helghan presence and influence is surely unrelated. It also makes it easier to patrol and later integrate local planets and their defense forces as they use common Helghan equipment.

A sturdy and reliable mech the Equites was a matter of pride for the Republic as it was their first truly unique Battlemech while their first two mechs were copying what was observed for the Titans and then built off the same chassis with the Princeps. As such it is slated for an upgrade once more advanced technology is developed and acquired. With plans to drop the Light Autocannon for a second pair of Blitz medium lasers and adding jump jets to make it highly mobile platform. But more heat management is required before that can be started.

Overview:
A considerable downgrade from the last Battlemech made by the Helghan Republic.
This quadrupled mech is obviously inspired by the Helghan's huge mobile land
warships the MAWLR. Only at a much reduced size and power. The Equites was
created from the start as an export mech and garrison unit. As such while it is
technically the 3rd variant mech created it isn't counted as part of the main
series. Created rapidly in under 2 years after the release of the Princeps it
was being shipped out and used by 3033 across all of Helghan space and with
independent and Alliance worlds.

Capabilities:
As the Equites is of simpler tech than the current level of upgrades it was
easier to create. Mounting 7 tons of armor provides adequate protection for a
light mech. Equipped with a lighter model 90mm Tartarus Cannon created by Ougon
Industries and two blitz medium lasers the Equites can deal with most light
duties and combat as is its purpose.

Battle History:
Used as export and garrison the Equites has seen off numerous pirate raids that
weren't expecting to face off against company sized formation on formally
defenseless worlds.

Deployment:
Due to the cheaper technology and Helghan high production the Equites is sold
and sent out in company sized formations for just 20 million C-Bills. While
still alot for the poorer worlds in the periphery the Helghan Republic's
willingness to extend credit and loans to worlds insures that they are
purchased in great numbers. That these worlds also see increased Helghan
presence and influence is surely unrelated.

Variants:
No variants existed when the design was first created but the Equites was very
well received by the Garrison forces in the Republic. As such once more
advanced technology was developed it too along with all other Mech Models in
service received upgrades for use only by the Helghan Military.

The EQU-2H added a Stahl Arms/StA-5 L.R.M LRM-5, a more powerful XL engine
increasing speed, and Endo-Steel structure.

Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:
A Garrison Unit most pilots are competent but not outstanding. Any truly great
pilots are transferred to more advanced units and training.

Article:

The Minuteman PA(L) suit is many things. It is the first new power armor created in the Inner Sphere and Periphery since the fall of the Star League. It is a major force multiplier for infantry, it is the first Joint Project of the Outer Rim Defense Initiative (ORDI), and it is only barely acceptable in its role.

Following the formation of the ORDI at the mid point of the 4th Succession war the Helghan Republic traded the technical and material research needed to create combat exoskeletons instead of just the industrial one that were still in use by the other powers. As a part of this trade deal the Helghan Republic invited the other members to combine their efforts in a joint project to develop true Power Armor suits for their standard infantry forces. It was a move by the Republic to lay the seeds for the ORDI to become more than just a defensive pact it was started as. It was hoped that working together and reaping the rewards would lower tensions and grievances make the nations far more willing to create a Research facility/Pact like the NAIS and expand the ORDI in that aspect. The Power Armor research line as well as the DHS research line are the two joint projects that are hoped to make this possible.

The combined might of the four nations would in under 4 years finish their first successful model of power armor for deployment the Minuteman Suit. Due to the new nature of the technology being created and concept of massed power armor infantry being the ultimate goal of the project the Minuteman was not totally what was hoped for. As such the design was predesignated as a Basic Power Armor suit before it was done. The main issues with the armor is that bulk of the parts was larger than was expected, and the armor was a bit less protective than what was expected. The armor protection level was on par with the level of primitive battlemech armor compared to standard armor. The other systems were also bigger than was hoped but they preformed at the level they were expected and were considered successes. With these draw back the armor was still a very considerable advantage. With the widespread use of infantry any boost to their abilities would drastically increase the military strength of the nation using them.

Aside from the armored gloves allowing for better grip and able to hold onto mechs and vehicles as needed they also allowed the use of all infantry weapons developed by the nations. For the Helghan Republic this amounted to the newest advanced Assault Rifle/light machinegun, the assorted anti-mech petrusite and irradiated petrusite guns/cannons. The heavy firepower came from the mounting slots on the back of the suit able to carry a pair of SRM launchers, a Heavy/Mech Machine Gun, or a Grenade Launcher. The mounted weapons is dependent on the mission and the assigned role of units and the soldiers in each suit. While the suit doesn't grant a major boost to speed it does allow someone equipped with the suit to run and fight without suffering fatigue for much longer than would otherwise be normal. It also replaces the speed with increased mobility in the form of the jumpjets installed. Miniaturized from does used on the smallest mechs these took some of the longest time to finish. But they provide the ability to from what amounts to Power Armored Jump Infantry. It also allows for rapid deployment by HALO jumping or by paradropping and using the jumpjets to control and slow the descent. The tactic proved extremely effective when used by the HAF as having hundreds of troopers just drop in the middle of your base ruins everyone's day.

Until the development of the next generation Man-At-Arms PA(L) suit the Minuteman saw constant production. At first the suits were only deployed to special operations command. But as production continued the suits began to be deployed with the elite infantry formations of the Helghan Army. As the suits started to be sent in limited numbers to infantry formations in the rest of the armor the newer Man-At-Arms was completed and entered service. With years of experience in production and with the Man-At-Arms being a refined version of the Basic Minuteman the factories were able to switch lines to produce the new PA(L). This did not mean though that the Minuteman was discontinued it was just reduced in number built. But it was licensed out to other companies as well. These remaining factory lines and new companies would make Minuteman suits but not for the front line units anymore. Instead the Minuteman was used by second line garrison/militia units instead.

The deployment of militia power armor first by the Helghan Republic was a shock to everyone that knew about including the other ORDI members. But it was explained when question that the Militia make up a massive bulk of the defense of the realms. As such giving the forces a better option would allow the more powerful front line units to be used offensively and flexibility. As such in the Helghan Republic it was not uncommon to see entire formations of Minuteman on patrol.

While the Minuteman may not have been what the ORDI was hoping for it still proved to by good enough for their needs. It also served to revitalize the pride in the Periphery by creating something that even the Great Houses of the Inner Sphere had forgotten about and had never been able to create on their own. It also served to bind the ORDI closer together by providing greater proof to the benefits of the alliance and standing together instead of fighting each other for influence and power.

Article:

The Serpent is another success story of the Helghan Republic's Next Generation Arsenal program. Like the Daga, before it, the Serpent is meant to upgrade the Aero Corp with a craft that is more powerful and versatile than the old multi-role Strike Fighter.

Like the Daga, the Serpent was also created with input from Reuban Hale on the shortcomings of the Aero Corps. Unlike the Daga, though this was not just his input but also the input from the pilot that managed down him in the first place his wife. Along with the test pilot being one of their sons allowing for a trove of flight data.

Several prototypes were created over the years alongside the Daga development project. The first was created with primitive components and petrusite engines. Once standard level components were created those were used and the engine swapped to fusion drives with armor weapons and frames being adjusted.

The final production model chosen was the version with foldable wings, a Kader Industrieen Pulsar Large Laser in the nose. Along with a pair of Hephaestus Ltd Flare Small Lasers in the nose and the aft. As well as two Stahl Arms Blitz Medium Lasers in each wing. This weapons loadout is also supplemented with the ability to mount external missiles or bombs.

While work was being done on the Double Strength Heatsink and prototypes were used in the testing of the Serpent they simply were not ready for large-scale production or implementation so single heatsinks were installed. Sixteen such heatsinks were installed to allow for bracket firing or full striking with the Large and Medium lasers.

Like with the Daga there were two variants created one with the anti-grav ring allowing for reactionless drive use and a non-equipped version that has 4 tons of fuel to compensate. This gives the two versions a protection rating of 17 and 13 tons of armor respectively. Making them highly survivable and the anti-grav ring allowing the 250 rated engine to operate as if it was a 300 rated engine for a cruising speed of 4Gs.

Some prototypes of the Serpent would not be ready for the timeframe given for a production model as such they were put down as possible upgraded models. The most viable model was one with a 300 rated engine, 12 Double Heatsinks, and 14.5 tons of either standard or Ferro-Aluminum armor.

In the end, the Serpent came into the Helghan Aero Corps and has proven to be just the kind of fighter that was being looked for. The mix of speed, firepower, and carrying capacity makes it one of the most deadly multi-role fighters in the Inner Sphere, and in the hands of the highly trained Helghan Pilots, it remains a foe that no one wishes to face.
