The Long Founding (Warhammer 40k)

I realized interesting "mechanical quirk".

Because we have 40 points as "cap" during Chapter Creation phase, and Traitor Geneseed costs "10 points per Geneseed", Traitor/Traitor Chimerics are completely unprofitable (because you need to "pay" 25 points for Geneseeds alone)

Well, it would be bad if Biker fell to Black Rage, while driving at max speed through battlefield... mainly for his survivality

More so it's the reason Blood Angels and successors tend to field reduced Devestator Squads.

Between the Black Company and their flaw you inevitably have a contingent of troops who can only function in melee. Given that any marine can succumb at theoretically anytime then you need to account for that.

So doubling up on land Speeders and thunderhawks should work better with the BA's bent towards hyper aggressive, shock assaults.

that is why we unlock something every turn right? so we can make really strong chapters later

Some options are one and dones. Some unlock options going forward. It seems barely possible to make a build that uses all 40 points on expendable options each turn.

Honestly I focus on grabbing whatever seems interesting for the current idea (with some optional hedging) since we can easily run a very competent chapter off one or two expendable options.

Heck. The Verdant Eyes were really solid and they were our basic start chapter.

How would a Blood Angels/Iron Hands combination chapter work in regards to the Black Rage and Red Thrist. Would the fact that both their Primarchs are dead make it worse, would they use cybernetics to battle the Red Thirst, or starting doing other things.

I think the first question is if hybrid chapters roll for derangements on a table with both sets of options or if we roll once with each. That would determine if we could double up on their problems.

Given the Blood Angel's issues are psyker and warp based I doubt that cybernetics can directly help them. Maybe as a side effect of a chapter cult, but that has it's own set of issues. I say it alot but the Iron Hands and their successors tend to be coded as coping with extreme depression. That and some mix of dysmoprhia or depersonalization.

Ferrus's death traumatized his sons but the Blood Angels literally experience Sanguinis's final stand against Horus.so fixing BA issues are honestly impossible short of Big E coming back.

So Blood Angels/Iron Hands would (in worst case) be basically Chapter of Cyberpsychos from "Cyberpunk"?

Idea why not make a hybrid Blood Angels, Thousands Sons Tzeentch hunters both produce potent psyches and it could be intresting to see how their geneseed expresses itself.

I put up a plan with hybridized Thousand Sons gene seed a few pages back. The BA's were one of the baseline chapters I was suggesting for a follow up. It should be noted that if we use that combo then they'll almost certainly be facing intense attrition from both chapter's flaws. I'm also a little wary of turning Thousand Sons on Tzeentch honestly.

I personally favor White Scars for the purpose of leaning into them being very fast, semi independent, and forward observation focused.

I wonder what a iron hand plus death guard would do with a extra dreadnaugt since the resistance from death guard means more elders

Did the Chaos Warlod maker version of this quest.

The Chaos Founding

It is the aftermath of the Horus Heresy. And you have just been born. You don't know what your true 'goals' in life are. But you know what you want to do. You want to create.

Put in a small easter egg for followers of this quest who've been keeping up with Grimms backstory.

@undead frog , question, when it comes to chimeric chapters, if we spend potent geneseed to get the secundary geneseed base traits and roll separately on their trait list, can we use one legendary geneseed charge to get legendary traits of both chapters or do we have to spend two separate charges of legendary geneseed to roll on primary and secundary geneseed traits lists?

Two separate charges if you want a chance of a legendary from both.

[X] Plan: Keepers of Truth.
-[X] Do as you will: You will not be taking any requests at this time.
-[X] Traitor Legion Geneseed: Traitor Legion Geneseed: If you wish, you could gain access to the gene-seed of the traitor legions, each will have its benefits and costs, but all of them will have their gene-fathers concealed for practical reasons - little point creating a Chapter only for them to be wiped out by some overly paranoid fool. Write in a traitor legion. 10 Points for each time this is taken.
--[X] Word Bearers.
-[X] Potent Gene-Seed Charge: Some samples of a chapter's gene-seed are more likely to retain their stronger traits, and you have isolated such samples. 5 Points for each charge. Burn a charge to make the chapter roll for two traits from their parent legion. 2x.
-[X] Adaptive Gene-Seed: Some samples of Gene-seed are more capable of adapting to different conditions on different planets. 5 Points each charge. Burn a charge to roll an extra planetary trait.
-[X] More Equipment: You've managed to secure extra equipment for a chapter. 5 Points. Burn 1 charge to add an extra equipment slot for the chapter.
-[X] Secondary Gene-Seed: The key component for creating Chimeric Gene-Seed. You're honestly surprised Guiliman approved of this one - then again, you did hear him grumbling about some idiots who were suggesting mixing Night Lord and World Eater templates, so maybe he just wanted to make the concept your problem before somebody did something completely moronic. 5 Points for one charge, choose 1 legion to be the donor for the secondary Gene-Seed. Burn 1 charge and traits from the donor chapter are added for a roll, or a separate charge of potent gene-seed can be spent for a separate roll on the donor legion's trait list as well as an acquisition of the secondary legions 'base' traits.
--[X] Ultramarines.
-[X] Extra Trainers: With some extra effort and yelling at a few more bureaucrats, you ought to be able to arrange things so the new Chapter is able to get in some extra specialised training before proper deployment. 5 Points. Burn 1 charge to get an extra training option.
