The Long Founding (Warhammer 40k)

2nd: The Light Bringers ??????? Resulting in the Permiant destruction of the Assassinorum. Because of this Vandire is unable to break the telepathica representative and his time in power is cut in half and preventing the formation of the Ordo Hereticus. Likewise the fate of the Celestial Lions is derailed.
hmm . . . it would be a shame if we didn't gave the Assassinorum some space marine training dummies to practice on, nothing can go wrong helping out some sneaky-breaky shiv users

[ ] Defending Solar: A need to defend the Segmentum that houses Terra itself has become apparent, or at least apparent to people with the right connections.
Right this is the only request I would like to do but I'd more for doing the another chapter free bound with creative freedom.

[ ] Xenocide: Apparently the focus on Chaos has led to a perceived ignoring of the Xenos threat, many within the Imperium seek to fix that.
Condition: Next chapter automatically gains the 'Extremely Xenocidal' trait.
Ohhhhh boy, that's a requests, I do get what they are getting at though. We've made two chapters that have been amazing for dealing with Traitors both Military and in Government/Special operations, the two past chapters have helped curtailed a lot of internal problems in the Imperium. Now we it would be good to focus on the external threats with Xenos, sadly I think this chapter will be responsible for offing a lot of Xenos that don't have anything to do with Chaos or anything due to that Trait but I'm hoping they focus on the Orks, the Dark Eldar, and the Necrons more than anything.

[ ] Codex Experiments: "Hmmmmmmmmmm."
Goal: Create a chapter with Alpha Legion Gene-Seed and place it in a homeworld with the (Ultramar) tag.
Uhhhhhh, what the hell? Codex Experiments is about the Codex Astartes and given this is to be an Alpha Legion Gene Seed chapter in Ultramar its about testing or seeing how the Codex is or bends... Not sure what the goal here is.

would getting both and using them together add one normal and one legendary roll, or would getting both and using them together have 2 legendary rolls?
I asked this previously, Yes using both is for the best. The Legendary Gene seed just puts the Legendary Traits of a legion on the table to be rolled, it allows us to try to get them. the Potent Geneseed allows us to take two Traits from the parent legion, if we use both then the Potent lets us rolls twice and hopefully gets us one legendary trait. I'm not sure on how MANY times we can take it, so that might be worth asking.

@undead frog QM is there a limit on how many times we can use Potent Geneseed or Adaptive Geneseed in one turn?

I'm really liking Grimm's characterization and how he utterly loathes the ideals of the Mechanicus whilst being one of the most powerful members of the Mechanicus.

An ironic state of affairs for a man in his position to be in.
Every Genius has to have their quirks, Grimms is just hating one of the ideals of the Mechanicus and servitors in general.

I'm measuring things by era and chapters made instead of giving specific dats because otherwise my head will explode.

In light of that I'll say you have 2 more chapters left before M31 concludes with the establishment of the Temple of the Savoir Emperor.
Ahhh so general term instead of locking yourself into it. Fair enough as the Horus Hersey would cause a lot problems that would stall the Long Founding from starting up. as shown with the Dark Peregines its early enough with some requests to have to do with the problems of the era. Having two Chapters is fine considering we put out three already and we'll be doing the other as we can based on what we think can do. Like the War of the Beast and the Proto-Kork since people do want to head that off or migrate the damage from that. Which makes sense considering the effect it had and it was early on after the HH.

Permanent; Also, every single clade? They seem too powerful an organization to allow to get swallowed into the sands of time. A lot of specialized equipment, methods, and training goes into these groups. Even with the Light Bringers acting on intelligence sometimes you'd need the scalpel of the Assassinorum. Calidus and Cellexus certainly would be too invaluable a tool in the Imperium's set to allow to wallow.

1st: The Verdant Eyes stop the Deathwatch from screw up the ritual to birth the elder death god. This has many possible outcomes but the biggest one is that Slannesh is slain and their Daemons are driven from the warp. The other 3 CG's immediately start fighting over the spoils and the progress of the 3th Black Crusade is ground to a halt.
Wouldn't this also kill half of humanity due to blotting out the Astronomicon? Or am I not remembering that right.

Not in the timelines that the Verdant eyes actually help them in.

Perhaps that's why they didn't in this one though.

The ones not wiped out would most likely be reorganized and places under different departments.

Because one person having control of all of em was a big mistake.

what the hell could justify that ?, like reform or restructure the organization sure but outright destruction , that is a bridge too far , like the beheading an event where the high lord of the Assassinorum killed the entire council of high lords then took complete control of the Imperium didn't have an effect on the Assassinorum in fact it wasn't for another 3000 years later when Vandire and his mess happened that some restructuring to the Assassinorum took place along with founding a watch dog organization

so straight up dissolving the Assassinorum would require nothing less than the entire organization committing wholesale treason against the emperor himself

From what I recall it would only last for a temporary amount of time aka however long Ynnead birth took and yes it would cause a lot of damage as suddenly ships don't know where to go.

But considering In canon imperium nihilus is dealing with the same issue of no Astronomivon but permanently I'm confident enough to say that a proper Ynnead birth would still be better for the Imperium.

Well you see the ???? was done in the immediate aftermath of the beheading when everyone was already looking for a reason to get at the assassinorum.
It's like Time Variance Authority would pop out of nowhere and prune those branching/alternate timeline, all to preserve the Sacred Timeline or something.
Considering just retconning split timelines idea anyway. Seems more stressful than it's worth it right now and also might be killing people's enjoyment.

Honestly, breaking them up like what happened to the legions is smart continuity. I can see that happening. No longer the Officio, but the Clades. Also, folding the Cellexus with the Sister would be cool. I wonder what happened with Eversor assets...who got those human nukes.

Considering my own opinion, i'm of the mind that if we decide to pick a request, i'd think it best to do either Defending Solar, aid to Ultramar or Xenocide. As those don't have a real requirement other then general location or specific foe that does not require speclization.

I suppose of the three, if i had to pick a request, i'd take the Xenocide one as that would still allow us to finally do that Dark Angel Horse Rider plan we've discussed, get that up and running.

Don't know how eager I am for the xenocide plan... this is the Imperium. They won't just be deploying to face Xenomorphs and Mindflayers the Grubliesnark Peaceknicks are on the block too. Maybe we can make them capable of prioritizing their bloodlust but it feels like an obviously bad idea.

[ ] Plan R&DICAL Marines
-[ ] Testing, testing: The Forge World of Murphius is one of the primary producers of bolter weapons and rounds outside of Mars itself. They are also constantly adjusting switching between the many different patterns of bolters that they have 'discovered'. They want a chapter to test some of their…. Newer rediscovery.
-[ ] Traitor Legion Geneseed: If you wish you could gain access to the gene-seed of the traitor legions, each will have its ups and downs but all of them will have their gene-fathers concealed for practical reasons. Write in a traitor legion. 10 Points for each time this is taken.
--[ ] Iron Warriors
-[ ] Potent Gene-Seed Charge: Some samples of a chapter's gene-seed are more likely to retain their stronger traits, you have isolated such samples. 5 Points for each charge. Burn a charge to make the chapter roll for two traits from their parent legion.
-[ ] Adaptive Gene-Seed: Some samples of Gene-seed are more capable of adapting to different conditions on different planets. 5 Points each charge. Burn a charge to roll an extra planetary trait.
-[ ] More Equipment: You've managed to secure extra equipment for a chapter. 5 Points. Burn 1 charge to add an extra equipment slot for the chapter.

Let's try teaming an innovating Forge World up with the best all around technical legion.

Answering Some Questions 1
Personally I'm thinking we forgo a request this time. If we want to do the Horses then that cuts off any location based one and doesn't seem to synergize that well with any of the others.
This is a valid path to take I made the requests as a way to add some potential flavor to the chapters you could make, not to force you into taking one. It's why I didn't put in mechanical rewards for them because I want them to be something you take because you want too not something you take because it's optimal.
Btw, does the Imperium as a whole knows about the gene-sire of the Light Bringers or is that only known to the higher-ups and such?
Nope, most Imperial orgs in the know keep it under the wraps.... something they actually do with a lot of chapters of traitor legion lineage because they don't want zelots starting something that those chapters would have to finish.
Officially the Imperium never uses Traitor Gene Seed. Unofficially? People will know. Some chapters that are implied to have traitor stock either have partial records or have even hidden it from themselves though.
Heck the High Lords of Terra have a chapter with likley traitor lineage as their personal attack dogs.
If we want the Word Bearers spreding the Imperial truth we want them pronto since QM said that the next age will be starting soon and with that the cult of the Emperor
Yeah... not a good time to be a planet that doesn't follow the Cult of the Savior Empire unless you have a spes marine chapter at your back.
@undead frog QM is there a limit on how many times we can use Potent Geneseed or Adaptive Geneseed in one turn?
Twice each.

About Ynnead birth, let's be honest, even if it would actually cause Astronomican disturbance on galactic scale, killing permanently one of Chaos Gods is too good not to do it. Literally the only reason for the Imperium to actually stop it, that would make sense, if birth of their new god and Slannesh own death, would cause all Eldar to become Biel-Tan and seriously consider killing every other species in the galaxy.

Remember, as opposed to memes, Eldar in canon are ridiculously diverse, if Eldar had the same treatment from Games Workshop as Imperium does, every Craftworld, Kabal and Harlequin Masque would have their own codex. Some Eldar see all other species as below animals and want to kill them for sin of existing, some see other species as animals and treat them as such, not caring about them unless attacked by them, some want to help other species because they see it as necessary for Eldar own survival and some genuinely want to help them because it's the right thing to do.

So all Eldar suddenly wanting the rebuilt of their Empire as it was and destruction of all the "barbaric primitives" because Slannesh is gone is literally the only scenario where stopping Ynnead is justified at all, and even then, arguably, it's a risk worth taking.

Which makes sense, I want to do the anti khornate/IW chapter because the sooner we have a good counter to the Khornates the better on a matter of general principle.

the thing is we have like three different plans we want to do that are on a time limit. the anti ecclesiarchy chapter needs to get done before the end of M31, so in the next 2 turns, the befriending the space wolves chapter needs to get made before the Tempering, which happens in M32 (and presumably early on since magnus was still active), and the plan to stop the war of the beast requires us to make both a xeno hunting chapter and a chapter to defend Terra also early on in M32.
