It's a funny coincidence that in my last playthrough during the Dance of the Dragons in CK3 AGOT, I watched as Rhaenyra married Larys, who then inherited Harrenhal after his brother's "mysterious" death. They later divorced, but it was their son who eventually inherited the Iron Throne. He also inherited Harrenhal, which he then promptly gave to another dynasty. Considering the guy was a genius, I think he was onto something.

Edit: Looking through the records, it's even funnier, because after her divorce from Larys, Rhaenyra married Gwayne, although they had no children in that marriage. Damon, by the way, died of illness quite early, maybe that broke some things. This timeline was pretty crazy.

Guys honestly before getting in or out of any train until we check all the interesting the potential marriage partners ourselves...

I thought than the main reason to take [] [Action] Look into Marriage Options immediately after returning was so that we could put the time needed to make an informed decision

If we want max interpersonal drama in the story, we could have Rhaenyra marry Gawayne and propose Alicent marry Harwin.

So Nyra would be married to her paramour brother while her paramour husband is crushing on her.

And that is before you get the curse of Harrenhall in the mix...

Yeah, sure, but we're still gonna be talking it over endlessly anyway until the final decision is made and maybe afterwards, y'know?

I mean, Alicent seems like she deserves better than having her husband and all of her kids killed by Larys.

Also, Alicent was dreading the very prospect of marriage, if I remember that conversation correctly. If we negotiate with Otto for her to be given the right to choose for herself, as I hope we will, she'll probably decide to not get married at all. Perpetual aunt and lifelong lover, what's not to like?

Edit:
What if both we and Alicent were to marry Dornishmen?
Sold.

But seriously, the more I think about it, the more it seems like there are some unusual parallels between Larys Strong and Palpatine.

Brought down the enemy government by turning its own forces against it? Check

Has a sinister apprentice whom they train to be a master of their arts? Check

Said apprentice is a horribly burnt husk of a man fused to their armour? Check

End up murdering their apprentice? Check

Murdering their apprentice ends up being their downfall during their confrontation with the fresh faced new young hero? Check

He even has a great Sith name. Darth STRONG.

I wonder if George was watching some Star Wars when conceiving Larys' sections of the Dance.....

Yeah I've become pretty convinced of getting off the Harwin train. Even without the potential issues with Alicent he brings a pretty meh demesne and makes us and our children the enemies of a very capable spymaster. If we really want a Riverlands husbando I would rather look to either Elmo Tully or Forrest Frey. Tully if we don't want a romantic relationship and Frey if we do, and that's only if we're really set on our husbando being from the Riverlands, or having children with muppet names, the latter of which I definitely am.
I'm kind of dark-horsing(Yes I know) Amos Bracken at the moment. No clue if he still is an option with recent events and it may just be the contrarian in me. Points in his favor:
  • A love (likely) match which probably helps with stress.
  • One of the strongest Houses in the Riverlands with the prestige to match. They can field more men than Tully personally can from their own lands
  • Turns a House that was against Rhaenyra in canon to her, though more likely it's a trade for Blackwoods which is open to debate on the value of that.
  • Good enough fighter in book canon to beat his Blackwood rival
  • One of our kids could be a Skinchanger or have Greensight since 'Each Bracken has Blackwood in them' and vice-versa.
  • One of our kids could also have one of the coolest personal Sigil
  • Would be good redemption arc for the Brackens as a whole.
  • Potentially great with kids and knows when to let them win:V

F*** no to the idea of getting Alicent married to someone.

Rhaenyra Is a Dragon. And Dragon Do Not Share

One if not the biggest reason to marry Gwayne. He would understand he would always be second fiddle compared the Rhae X Alicent love.

Someone like Harwin, who really loved Rhaenyra to put up with all her s***, wouldn't accept not being Rhae's Love

And by doing this, we can pressure Otro into not getting Alicent Married, since we already Married her brother, therefore His bloodline Will inherit the Iron Throne. There Is no greater honour/privilege than that

Well, not for a second son without lands and keep and title to inherit, anyway. Otherwise having that would probably be the higher honour.

But hey. If you really are on the "The Dragon does not share" train, can I hope for your support regarding not compromising on the Targaryen name for us and our children? :p

Well, in canon, the arrangement with Laenor was that their (well, officially "their") children would be named Velaryon, and only the heir to the Iron Throne would take on the name Targaryen. Stuff like that. I want our children to be named Targaryen, no compromises. We are dragons, not seahorses (or suns or rivers/rainbows or towers).

Sounds good. And not like Hightower can claim to match the weight of our Family Name seeing they aren't a Paramount House

To go down your points:

-A "love match" would be a disadvantage, as we have to consider Alicent.
-Bracken, Blackwood, both Vances and Frey all have more land and men than the Tullys. And probably atm the Strongs, too. The point is rather that the Tullys have very few resources for a Great House. Their rule on the riverlands is very fragile (in theory, not that anything ever happens to them because nothing whatsofuckingever changes in the back history of ASOIAF, when suddenly houses are falling left and right in stark contrast to literally millennia before)
-I think we can see it as assured that Bracken and Blackwood will stand on opposite sides of whatever Dance is to come, unless someone on the enemy side as fucking stupid as Tywin to order them both attacked at the same time. Same with the two Houses Vance.
-Well, Aegon V married a Blackwood, and all that happened was his grandson turning insane. So much for powers :p Also, we are well served by powers from the "Fire" side of things, mostly our ability to bond with dragons, of course. I don't think we ever saw a person with both "Fire" and "Ice" powers. Arguably that would be the PWWP.
-A horse with dragon wings is still just HONSE :p

That probably means that Corlys will straight up refuse the match, since it's a hard sell and he's a prideful, arrogant, power-hungry man. With Harwin, seems doable if not easy; with Qoren, uuuhhhh, considering that the negotiations would impact the wholeass diplomatic relations between the Iron Throne and Dorne, I actually think it might be a good idea to budge on that if we go for him? And with Gwayne, ez of course.
