Are they, though? She can issue remote orders via her Seraph clone, and she had to exclude them from Justicar's edict by specifying "thinking creatures".
Telling the clones something via Seraph is different from Seraph controlling them. Though I do see the possibility for simply… convincing the clones we are actually her talking to them indirectly.

If there was a way to make SB as stupid as her own clones, I would take that in a heartbeat. Make her feel powerless for once in her life.

...also, if you read her motive rant at Yara, then... the rotten food problem from the parent clones was INTENTIONAL. at least, partially. fucking disgusted.

While it is disgusting, I think there's an ounce of pity to be held for her considering that she was also subjected to the same treatment by her own parents.

Hurt people hurt others and all that.

Strangely it was both intentional and done with 'pure' intentions. Well, as pure as she can get given she's utterly insane.

That makes your target obvious then. Anyone else you damage—including Socialite Butterfly—will just be protected by Indemnity's power. If you remember correctly, his power works by him touching someone and designating them the "receiver". He then can transfer any injuries that he sees onto that receiver.

Hmm. Doesn't specify that they couldn't heal injuries that have already been taken.

Quick idea: Indemnity for damage transfer, and then add Red Huntress for her mark to enhance the targeting of the "receiver" and turn it to a damage dealing power. Then maybe a Clairvoyance power to allow him to "see" injuries remotely and remove the touch based restriction, though most of those samples are a bit low potency.

Smh my head making Yara likable and then having her die and get revived should be a crime. Free my girl so she can continue the real Oliveira family business (commissioning and reading smut).

A Mother's Remains

You are…

You were Han Yu.

You were a decent hero, until you faced the most important test of your life and failed. You were a mediocre teammate, never able to stand up to Novalight as much as you should have. And you were a god-awful mother to a daughter who deserved so much better.

But that's all in the past.

Now, you are none of those things.

It's not that you are something different now. It's just that you are not.

Or…

It would take someone out of their mind, and that mine having been the greatest mind of their generation, to actually make an effort to describe what you are. What you have been left as.

Speak of the devil and she will appear.

Think of it like this. You were a goddamn power plant. You had a connection to the stage like everyone else, and somehow that connection gave you a frankly absurd control over kinetic energy. Sure, powers are bullshit, I studied them, I should know.

Now, you aren't. There's nothing left of you. Fuck, you died in the QZ, less than nothing.

But all those wires and cables and pipes that served as that connection?

They're still there, even if they connect to a wreck of a corpse.

And if you channel enough power — yeah, the concentrated explosion of a stock of dynamite is a fucking fine analogy, if I do say so myself — you can send voltage down those lines and water through those pipe one last time.

Is there any ghost left in that machine? Any thing that linkage learned from the pulse and rhythm your mind made over all those years intertwined with it?

Fuck if I know.

But it looks like your daughter is about to find out.

Your daughter…

Your daughter?

Your daughter!

She's asking for help. You're not there, but you are here.

And not heaven nor hell nor all the powers on earth work would see you fail her this one, last, time.

Nora as speculation device is fun. Though her voice is tricky, I don't feel I have it right.

I wanted to elucidate a thought on what including Heavenly Astrologan in Dynamite means.

I am here for the narrative and I'd really like to see her included.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to like make a healer? Like Yara would probably be at least be a kind of fitting candidate for this kind of power since she was revived by a Medicant Symbiote. And like we probably need our own healer since Medicant's support won't least forever.

The Interlocutor looks up.

The games with the not-mes have been amusing as of late, but even it can grow weary of repetition. Novelty and an answer to its question are what it truly seeks.

But, now, this is curious.

The creature touches its chest with a hand connected to a much too-long arm.

"What is it we feel now?" it asks out loud, "Such warmth. Such joy. What a curious feeling to have. The not-mes never cease to surprise me."

It continues its search. In Horizon for certain, but where is she? Ah well, today has been worthwhile for this alone, at least. It enjoys its "good mood".

"Pride in someone else. How very unique a sensation."
The Interlocutor has an interesting view of the world. It seems like they and Third Person are of a kind in a similar way. Everyone who isn't the Interlocutor is a "not-me".

Fill-in Issue #2: PREVAIL! — EXTENSION — 2

You are Mona Merola-Morales.

And you are not happy, not fully.

You are still angry of what those p-poopyheads were trying to do. —Today!? Of all days!?— Your showing made it so it wasn't so successful on the eyes of the public, but still...

Tomorrow you will think more on what you'll do.

You enter your house, ready to just change clothes and going to bed. But you find your mother waiting for you in the living room.

"M-mom?"

"Hi, sweetie."

"Yeah, hello mom. Why are you here?"

"...I live here too?"

You shake your head. This is ridiculous.

"No, I mean. I thought you were staying with the rest to drink a bit more. Or with Mr. Chaucer."

"What was that?"

"Nothing," you say with the best poker face you have ever or will ever do.

"Well, you wouldn't be wrong~"

"Mooom..."

"But I believed you needed me here after... you know, all that 'Crusade' nonsense. You are my daughter, I would know when you are specially upset."

"Oh"

It was that obvious?

"Yes, you really looked different after you came back with Miss Zixuan."

How could you not?

As you were thinking of a response, your mother spoke first, changing the subject.

"Is Maddie coming?"

"Oh, not tonight. She told me she wanted to be alone for a while."

You didn't asked why, but...

You saw something as you were helping moving out Maddie's stuff from her old home.

So you had an idea.

"That's alright, then. I already said it in the party, but I am very proud of you Mona. You really showed them."

"Yeah, I couldn't stand still and let them do all that. Thank you, mom."

As you were about to float to the bathroom, your mom takes the initiative again.

"I'm also here to inform you of something. Since you are the face of JU."

"Huh?" you say as you tilt your head at her, "what is it?"

"Miss Zixuan told me that she was gonna present information to the team related to the accusations."

"What?" you say in surprise.

"According to her, Valiant Silver had prepared a message to be seen in case of her death. I guess she mentions something about all of this there."

"Did Lady Leizi really told you all that? It seems... personal."

"It is, and she did. She would be more tight-lipped in any other situation—I guess—but she didn't wanted to sour the mood more than it already was, so she wanted me to inform you after the party. She also told me that apparently you know something about it?"

"Oh, yeah. Something about my powers allowed me to see stuff, but is like classified stuff."

"I can tell."

As she remarks, you notice something on her face, some nervousness.

"Mom, is everything alright?"

"Is fine Mona, I'm just... reflecting."

"Reflecting? On what?"

"About everything."

"Wait, again?!" you exclaim in surprise, "I thought we already talked about it before I joined the team?! We spend like a whole day on that, and you accepted!"

"Yes we did, but is not quite that," she says, somewhat laughing at your reaction, "I've seen how needed you are, and I have accepted the kind of dangers you were gonna be exposed to."

She pauses.

"Is just—one thing is to hear it or say it, and another is experiencing it. When Miss Zixuan informed me that that light was you battling Scarlet Maturity of all people, I didn't knew what to think."

"Mom..."

"I am just worried. Any mother would."

Your head drops.

"...I am sorry, mom."

"Don't be. You are staying true to yourself and I'm proud to have raised you as good girl. I just want you to remember that I'll always love you."

She opens her arms and hugs you.

You return it.

"I love you too, mom. And... Merry Christmas."

"Merry Christmas to you too, sweetie."

...Wait.

"Mom."

"Yes, Mona?"

"Did you said all of that just to make me not think about Crusade?"

"I didn't lied to you, if that's what you're wondering."

Your mom says that with a playful smile, averting her eyes from yours.

She really is your mother.

And you really are her daughter.

"Leviathan's Blood, mom..." you can't help but say.

Name: Solferina, Linh Nguyen
Power: Energy Manipulation, Ally Empowerment, Mental Manipulation
Faction: Independent
Potency: 4
Author: Kermie
Ibis' Notes: This is an interesting one—a metahuman who did the opposite of most. Unlike the average metahuman, who might find a normal job after their hero career (like Chaucer! Hey, I remembered that!) she became a metahuman after 10 years of being a successful street and stage performer. Even so, she and Crimson Soprano weirdly never held any enmity towards one another— they were even seen having a friendly coffee with each other once. She perished in the QZ, fighting a Behemoth and punching it in the eye while she was on her way out.
During her short time—5 years—as a metahuman, she proved how well a weak power could do in the hands of the right person. She could either weaken someone and make them depressed or apathetic, or strengthen someone and lift their spirits. If only I had gotten her expertise on my serotonin implant… ahem. These effects would be implanted based on the mood of whatever she was singing, as long as any person she was aiming to affect was within hearing distance and as long as they could understand the words. Notably, anyone who would hear her song would be affected unconditionally, so she used her services to hunt down a few Behemoths as an independent hire, and managed to get both of her kids full rides to their preferred universities before her death.
One thing I really like about this power is that once it's triggered it works unconditionally. A combo like Solferina + Seraph/Chatroom + Shutdown would essentially be telepathic long distance power cancellation. Or you could focus on the buffing aspect and give our allies Invulnerability via Steadfast or Deadman's death regen.

With the power of looking into things too hard, I can conclude that... yeah, those Justicar rules are kinda tripping over each other. I can't imagine it's easy to commit suicide when you are simultaneously unable to move or perceive anything. [Disclaimer: This is not me attempting to argue the current situation is 'not that bad'. It very much is.]

There's also the additional issues of how I similarly can't imagine being forced to praise SB and denounce yourself would qualify as genuine and thus lift the rule-breaking because of the 'forced' part, and there's probably also the issue of being unable to kill yourself because your entire nervous system is lighting up like a Christmas tree from not killing yourself, as it seems fairly implied these rules all took effect instantaneously. Sure, you could delay the effect, but why give your enemies more time to shoot you?

So yeah, Socialite Butterfly is a complete egotist. Who could've guessed that one?

It can't be! You would know! It would be impossible to hide a second Scarlet Maturity from everyone!

. . . if he looked the same. But now that you know how his power works, you wonder: what did he look like before he started collecting on his "loans". Was he a normal person? At a normal height? He has grown taller over the years, directly proportional to his own power.
I was right and I am very afraid
No. Oscar was never patient. If anything interrupts his 'golden route', he'll burn it all down and start again. We must focus on this. Let the Mysteries fight the inevitable war with the Hours. Apotheosis cares for nothing but its own time."
Ah sheeeet he's playing a visual novel of life
And with that, the Speaker of The Hand of the Mysteries leaves.
The Hand of the mysteries Rulesss as a name another bitter man home ran
[Disagreement: Leviathan's head has shifted zero-point-zero-zero-zero-zero-one degree toward southwest. Shift coincided with anomalous readings. Connection likely.]
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

That's very scary and is a naturally built-in reason to only use Dynomite when absolutely necessary
I mean, from what I can tell if she doesn't die in the next five minutes she'll come back tomorrow twice as strong because her power doesn't really seem to have any limits that stop her from just going, "Do over", running away, and being even stronger next time, as in the very next day?
Well I think her ranting as given us more data

Her ranting about burning admirers speaks to me she has an extra cost we don't know

Such as the possibility of creating a clone has power scaling. Like she could pop out non powers every day but the stronger an admirer is the more time/juice it takes it cook em up

Somebody else suggested that if she's not the one that killed him it might permanently use them up. Partly unlikely because we do have Bella saying she killed a guy with same face and he was back the next day but if he was just a regular dude it could be as simple as her copying a guy who does CrossFit every time her clone dies

But either way her sins I've been to great, she must face the wrath of the heavens
Was there any ancient conspiracy Justice Unlimited Didn't accidentally mortally offend?!?!?
The ancient hermetic order of beekeepers is probably pretty chill with us also maybe the masons
Lmfao IS THIS THE TITLE YOU WERE SO AMUSED WE MISSED? Our foes are just "mysteries", tbh I prefer the Philosophers.
Well no the philosophers is literally just a ripoff name we have been using so we don't have to call it those people or the tattoo gang

Originality is better
As old country man, once said , sometimes Dead is better
Dynamite man, I've been excited.
We are feeling all right thanks to the magic of kid Dinomite
Because a self-replicating swarm of monsters that transform into deadlier forms the more dangerous their opponent is is a literal nightmare.
Use-full if we have to pull out the dynamite again
I like having Apiary as one of our slots, just because her+HA+Zeno works out. Yes, she needs time to build up. But with Zeno+HA, we can just alter the length of a second or eat the empty space separating us and SB.
Yeah, but nothing stopping us from having a plan or two in the back parking in case we ever run into a situation where must dynamite again

Like one I have built assuming we kill SB here and run into a very specific situation, I call fight the planet
Hmm, Ali Baba should be usable as well.
The trickster of Arabian legend?

Basic idea: Damage transfer, target marking/scaling/predation component, Clairvoyance/teleportation/Ally empowerment for remote tagging/healing of allies. Might not have enough raw power though and we do need to do something about the HA clone.

The trickster of Arabian legend?

Ali Baba was one of the original New Dawn heroes. Their power involved turning into a ghost or something like that, we don't have much information other than that.

First, was the impossibility of motion. To advance any distance, a person must first walk halfway there, to get halfway there, they must move halfway of that distance, and so on to infinity. This manifested in his ability to arrest the motion of anything in his light of sight, including technically non-visible things like air molecules.
Is there a world where we use a clairvoyance power, extend the line of sight to be "essentially the whole battle field" and just win. Like it works on air, could it also not work on light? Shit if there was a power that can see through things wouldn't that mean you could arrest the motion of someone's heart?

Finally finished reading

Hmmm, so that's where Valkyrie appears. Boy imagine if had gone to the Leviathan itself. So as far as I can tell, the other Voices are Hand/Lantern and Interlocutor. So that's those two things confirmed

I don't recall at all any plans that accounted for a potential power boosting. Granted a lot of them tend to go "hope for the best" from where I'm standing. If only we utilized Handyman's shapeshifting a bit more 😔

Oh well, bygones be bygones.

I still have suspicions about this vote but I'll wait till Bitterman's around to reply.

"EDICT: ALL THINKING CREATURES NOT NAMED YARA OLIVEIRA OR KAITLYN ENGLISH MUST KILL THEMSELVES. PUNISHMENT: CONSTANT STIMULATION OF THE PAIN CENTERS OF THEIR BRAINS."
... What is the range on these edicts? Because if this is anywhere remotely near a populated area, Socialite Butterfly has earned a one-way ticket to hell on top of whatever she did in the past.

I was expecting something brash, but this really takes the cake. Level 3 emergency theme comes to mind.

I have to wonder if Dynamite combos must be unique for each time Dynamite is used, which would seem pretty natural to prevent rolling out the same broken combo always. But for now I will I assume we are at liberty to use the strongest powers.

Here's an off the cuff plan draft I have based on Kermie's ideas. Since we have a free play sandbox let's use this chance to cheat a bunch of aces up our sleeve that have no business ever being together in the normal Project Prometheus and make some crazy synergies, eh?

[] Plan: Mandate of Heaven
-[] Heavenly Astrologian
-[] Zeno
-[] Apiary

Heavenly Astrologian almost certainly has Fundamental Force Manipulation, and I've always been curious if this interacts with Space-Time Manipulation. Plus Transformation and maybe a even a dash of Matter Conversion, I'm looking for either quantum bullshit or an upgraded version of Zeno's stasis power, which would be ideal for locking down Justiciar and the others. Perhaps encase them in a paradox prison that will retroactively erase some of their actions for a time.

I'm thinking more about this angle and the trick might be to use Apiary + Seraph. With her power of matter transmutation + construct creation + her drones effectively being a hivemind I'm betting we could override/assimilate the clones. Or just overwhelm her with our own clone army, but either way works.

Easy method: arrest the motion of all air around SB and wait for her to die. Unable to move, because she can't move the air. Unable to speak, because she can't move the air. Unable to breathe, because she can't move the air.

Chatroom did give DS the Space Sense but well shes a bit too week to use.

Inside her fog, she could turn herself and others invisible to light, including infrared and radar. Scents and sounds coming from them could also be masked selectively, and other clairvoyant abilities trying to peer in the fog became fuzzy. On the flip side, she could perceive anything inside her fog, but couldn't bestow that power to allies.
So many powers have such open ended language lol. She can just perceive anything??? OK!!!
