Do you mean the part where Cauldron did a lot of good making hard choices, or the part where they gave up on looking for good choices and trying to make things better?
The worst part is they started out with right methods taking volunteers from those who couldn't be saved from conventional methods and trying a risky method to save their lives.

But then once they got entrenched power they did stupid things like nemesis programs and selling to villains who just make things worst

What Trismigestus wanted from her was worse in every way. Rosemary would have taken vTubing from Wonderland over that 100 times out of 100.

It was almost a kindness that Faust spelt everything out in the contract.
At least Faust is an honest asshole,,.... andNovalight.... well We have the benefit of hindsight but please remember that..... She literally ended up driving away Nora Kim/valiant silver who succeeded where Steelheart didn't and created something that would have literally solved all the problems New Dawn had....

Honestly given her power and organization even in the aftermath of the Sussurration I am honestly impressed she let Horizon slip out of their fingers. it isamazingly hard to fail when you have Novalight's rep and resources post Sussurration.

I agreed with the need to separate him from the general population, given his personality, but the location was clearly a slight against you—"
Gee wonder why the guy who almost killed her gets out right next the person she regularly visits
The only safe way through Valkyrie's Fall is via a lead-lined railcar operated by Steelheart. And even then, you are going to have to take several rounds of decontamination showers and clear multiple Geiger counters after you leave. It made visiting Wonderland terribly inconvenient and escaping nearly impossible.
Monarch was truly the only way anyone could survive post movement because like dudes machines stopped working fairy good odds if she did nothing every one was going to die of either starvation, dehydration or even possibly oxygen deprivation or risk frying themselves trying to cross the rad wastes
Thank you 'LacklusterTime' for the red superchat! 'Dear QT Bee, I'm glad to see you get back into RPGs. Fun fact, you get a special interaction if you bring Wyll with you to the'—aww, man I missed it?! I'm not gonna go replay all of Act II just for that, right . . . ? Okay, I might."
Based pick of wyll , I mean it's no gale, but second best male party character is still good
That's my question, Astrologian," Novalight said, "What are you doing, interrupting a council meeting. You were not summoned."
Gee what a wonderful hero and not at all a overblown mean girl playing pretend
Her power," Steelheart sayid, changing the display to footage from Rosemary's power testing, "She isn't just dysmorphic. She can ingest any organic matter and convert it to an unknown substance she can freely shape, including into biological drones she can control. The drones themselves can, in turn, convert and shape organic matter. She's functionally unkillable so long as she has an alternative body to return. If she wanted to, she could proliferate at an exponential rate and subsume whole countries."
Man steelheart I hope we getting to kill a A.I back up you made of yourself
So you came back. Novalight docked your pay and put you on double shifts for a year.
Crazy how almost the only good thing Novalight has done is die and leave DNA to make an actually good hero
Novalight is the anti-Scarlet Maturity. She becomes more hateable every time she appears.
Oh it's because they have an inversion going on

Scarlet Maturity thinks himself nothing more than a monster , but ignores all the legitimate heroic things he does when no one but himself would know, and Novalight thinks herself a hero & that excuses on her abuses

It's a Honest if mistaken person vs a person who never looks at their lies
but I do wonder if there's even more tragic backstory than I considered at play here.
I don't think I've said it this thread but trama is never a pass to be a bad person

Novalight is just scared of others

Well of course. She doesn't want anyone that could eclipse her.

All, she has is leadership of New Dawn, if someone more powerful comes along she might be remove. Being the most powerful one left, is how she became leader in the first place.

I do imagine the scars of the Sussuration loom large. You trust this person with their immense power, and then one day they go crazy and you have to irradiate a chunk of the city to have a chance at stopping them.

Now you're faced with someone who could end the world, and not just the city, and you can just… not take that risk? And all ('all') it costs is locking a nineteen year old girl in prison? How many nineteen year olds did you kill to stop one of the few people you ever called friend? How many more would die to this X-class threat?

…and so on. Not that she's right, but I do wonder if there's even more tragic backstory than I considered at play here.

That is a very good point.

Yes? Yes. I find it hard to imagine anyone disagreeing.

I also think chalking up Novalight as a bad person and leaving it there is like, the least interesting thing you can do with her. That's the extremely clear perspective we have been shown, you're not curious why and how she is that way?

Oh I figure it's because she's the last one left of the old old guard and instead of trying to make sure she can live up to the leadership role she has been given ( like Lady Leizi) she let it delude herself into thinking she was right that she made the right choices

Like the legitimately more charitable interpretation of her is, she wasn't trying to be the best she could be. Otherwise…

"Darlin' stop, it's not gotta help—" The Mysterious Stranger grabbed your cape, trying to hold you back. But you didn't let the gunslinger stop you. You were beyond rage, beyond reason.
1. I don't read it, but I can peg this as a Dark Tower reference.
2. Looks like another for the Wonderland medical record database alongside Valiant Red, Cisma, Heavenly Astrologian and Ali Baba.

"WhAt, Do YoU wAnT a FuCkInG mEdAl? ThAt's ThE fLoOr NoT tHe CeIlInG, bRo. If YoU hAd, I wOuLd HaVe PoPpEd YoU lIkE a ZiT." Warpstar looks over at you. "HeY, aStRoLoGiAn. GlAd YoU'Re OkAy. ArE yOu ViSiTiNg AgAiN?"

"Yes," you say to the surprisingly affable serial-killer.

"BaLlEr. HeY, cOuLd YoU tHaNk HeR fOr BuYiNg Me ThIs ScReEn AnD pUtTiNg MoNeY iN mY aCcOuNt FoR tHe InTeRnEt CoNnEcTiOn? I gOt To WaTcH tHe WoRlD sErIeS aNd My OsHi!"
The people's champion, its our boy.
"It's a temporary measure," Arc said, looking disquieted, "Just until we can gauge her temperament. Perhaps we can offer her training, guidance—"
I won't lie, I'm a little disappointed in Arc here. If you're going to be stripping someone's rights away over even the chance of them being a threat, own it. Don't weasel words it, at least admit what it is you're actually doing, as horrific as it is.
You . . . you even tried writing to Noelle's father. You hadn't heard from that worthless bastard since you told him that you were pregnant. But, like every message you tried to send to him in Elysium, it went unanswered.
Oh this is so going to be one of the Hours isn't it?

Honestly, I do wonder if Bitterman has a backstory loaded for Novalight that will let our perceptions change.
A backstory apart from "Recently, the oldest and largest superhero team in the city was torn apart by civil war. The world's greatest hero retired and another member is in jail (that you must operate) after nearly destroying the city and possibly the world. You are in charge of this team and must guard against absolutely everything that could end the world, which is quite a number of things. You also don't have the knowledge that the QM will scale threats to your party. Also you have to do bookkeeping and stuff. Good luck"?
it's already pretty sympathetic to me.

More importantly, Ellie is apparently the kid of an Elysium-dweller-asshole. Which means more room for more drama! There better be an arranged marriage by her asshole dad to some rich/powerful scion who Justice Unlimited could benefit from! Ooh, it'll be better if it's with someone genuinely nice like Sunlight Knight! Maybe her dad sends kidnapping goons after her because of Exceed-Beyond?!?! More BlackGold shenanigans please!!!!!!
I'm not sure Ellie would agree to go along with an arranged marriage. Perhaps we can put a Buddy on the case? Just long enough to buy some stuff on the scion's credit card.

Hard men making hard decisions while hard.
Some were perhaps harder than others. Especially when Han was around.

Ah, of course, she has to dress like that so she can more efficiently emit light. Bravo Kojiman
