I saw Jinx have an moment why she is glad Robin belongs elsewhere but almost thought he would say "I'll be back!""

Will he or won't he?

So this chapter's ending is leading into the Worm Side quest, and then the next chapter will be his return?

I think I got that right, cause what she said sounds like the beginning of the side quest...

So he might be coming back with the powers earned in the Side Quest and able to do more than before.

"I'm better than Aqua!" Terra shouted as she waved her fists and pouted. "I don't have to send people to her miserable little death world,
She really lost the ability to say that she was better than Aqua after sending Al to the dumpster fire that is Worm. I'm not gonna lie, I have no love whatsoever for Worm. So Terra forgot she was supposed to be above sending people to death worlds though?

Terra sent Alec to DC, she's not above death worlds. The main difference is that the super edgy writers for it have their influence diluted by all the other writers. Worm just has the unfortunate case of having it's only author make it a crapsack.

I guess it could be worse he could be in the dark multiverse or I guess just injustice.

"-clearly used magic in the past," Alchemist said, frustration creeping into his voice as he spoke at the blank faces of the people around him, incomprehension clear in their eyes. "I can literally buy remedies at the various shops, Magical Leaves, Berries and Fruits, that help restore magical stamina. You cannot be telling me you've never questioned how the Seru can create lightning or fire from nothing!"

"You are, all of you, the Children of Tieg," Alchemist explained after taking a deep, calming breath. "The Seru are certainly more potent because they are each more focused in whatever it is that they specialize in but, while they are here, they need -you- to act. Where do you think this power comes from?"
Why does it feel like Al is taking this personally? Like, he seems almost offended by this.

Ah, Create Food and Water. One of my dms likes to say that they taste like just the burger puck from a McDonald's burger, but you remove any remaining beef flavor.
It's still miles better then nutraloaf.

He's not offended at them directly. He's offended at their learned helplessness. They have gotten so used to relying on the seru for everything that they can't conceive they can do something for themself.

Huh, good timing on the update, I got the update for the latest chapter just as I was finishing my reread of the previous reader mode page. Nice to see this one progressing again!

It had been borne from him, after all. And, when he Fused with it, that bond would only grow stronger.

Borne means 'carry'; Seaborne, Airborne, etc. You meant born from, as in a child of.

But, and this was a serious concern, it was at least as long as a fully loaded freight train. The size was both a blessing and a curse.

Which was why Alchemist had the Game Shop open. It took some digging but the man selected an item and purchased it, his hands coming back with a half-inch wide metal collar studded with tiny jewels.

A Shrink Collar. A clever little device that would solve the worst of the issues surrounding Alchemist's Juggernaut.
I hope he remembers that the Juggwyrmnaut still has the same stats that it did when it was Colossal-sized, including its Strength stat.

Just being able to hold up under its own weight would mean both its Strength and Constitution would be phenomenally huge.

Wait Alchemist is making a Juggernaut out of himself a Void Dragon, Void Dragons made from the maddness of between space after clashes of outter gods and cosmic events. Things he is semi-capable of doing. Did he just accidentally clone/birth a new Void Dragon/Son?

It doesn't seem like learned helplessness. King Drake had a plan, but the main obstacle being the lack of food and time, as well as the catch 22 of needing food to feed the people needed to help get food.

No, Alchemists offense seems to be towards the peoples lack of curiosity about how Seru and Humans interacted.

Funny thing; the king doesn't have enough manpower for his people to survive, and when Al gives them access to force multipliers that would grant them survival -- magic -- they turn their noses up at it.

Their survival instincts and intelligence really aren't very good.

Though I do hope the young man grabs the magic books, learns how to grow entire fields of produce in seconds with druid spells (as well as how to cast Fireballs that can take out entire armies' worth of monsters, as well as magic to heal horrible maladies) and shows the others how stupid they were to snub the gift.

It's a fart, in (old) French. It was also used to refer to bombs that would be placed against walls in sieges, etc. The phrase "hoist with his own petard" ('hoist' here meaning 'to be lifted up') is used in Shakespeare's Hamlet which could well have been the origin.
It had meaning --I read it long ago in a book about cannons from St Augustine fort. A petard is an explosive charge that was nailed to the door of a fortification and the fuse lit. Then the "lucky" soul sent to deliver it in the face of defensive fire had to run back to their lines before the fuse ran out and the black powder charge blew. So, consider, being in just a bit of a hurry to get in and get out it sometimes came to be that the person hammering in the spike would put it through the sleeve or even the harness the petard was carried in, leaving themselves stuck after the fuse was lit only noticing when trying to run. Hence "Hoist on your own petard" Trying to do something unto someone else and having it blow up in your face.

He is a mage at heart. Anyone denying magic tools that are RIGHT THERE is like pushing their vegetables around their plates and complaining of being hungry all the time for lack of meat.
Magic should be at least half of a balanced lifestyle.

But, they aren't turning their noses up at it? I mean they are happily accepting the cauldron that makes food. Al is kind of berating them for not thinking about how their interactions with Seru means they have magic.
Al: "You have magic!"
Drake: "Isn't that just the Seru?"
Al: "You both need magic to work together!"

Like, the average person probably doesn't know the physics behind how a microwave works, and likely doesn't care too much so long that it does work when they need it too. And Alchemist would berate them for not knowing.

Again, they aren't denying the magic tools, they might be reasonably gun shy regarding the seru, what with having been possessed for what seems like a decade; But Alchemists main contention:
You cannot be telling me you've never questioned how the Seru can create lightning or fire from nothing!"

Where do you think this power comes from?"

He didn't know if it was a symptom of the nobility that they chose to ignore literal magic and leave it for the laborers or if there was something else at play.
Seems to be the lack of curiosity regarding Human-Seru interactions.

And honestly, considering that humans have been using Seru since forever, it'd be like them questioning the spoon or the wedge.

Spot on. Alchemist came from our world, after all, and he's made it his purpose to study and explore magic and what it entails.

For him to run head-first into a culture that goes 'Okay, and?' in regards to magic is... I want to go with frustrating.

It's not their fault that they consider the Seru as just a facet of life. After all, they are! And you might notice that, once Alchemist got himself under control, he moved past that bit of frustration and followed through with his offer to help them. He didn't take back the magical books or scrolls, either, so it will fall to the people of the Drake Kingdom to revitalize their lands.

In the end, I wanted that to just be a conversation where the difference in mindset was made a bit more apparent. The world of Legaia is not Alchemist's world. It doesn't have to follow his logic, nor does it need to cater to him. That doesn't make either side wrong. Just different. Could he have handled it with more grace? Probably. At least he didn't make an absolute ass out of himself...

This time.
