Bah!

I can already not trust the upper house to to resolve our Pollution problem and it looks like some of our numbers wish to ignore it as well, so it falls on us, the Tree Party to do it!

[ ] Plan Green Industry!
-[ ] Rapid Develop Industry - 1 PW: +2 IC and Active Development, +1 Pollution, -2 Temp IC
-[ ] Rapid Develop Industry - 1 PW: +2 IC and Active Development, +1 Pollution, -2 Temp IC
-[ ] Found Kale-Yllthon Railway Company - 1 PW, -2 IC, founds company to automatically expand <X> arterial line each turn, IC refunded at end of project
-[ ] Found Kale-Yllthon Railway Company - 1 PW, -2 IC, founds company to automatically expand <X> arterial line each turn, IC refunded at end of project
-[ ] Construct Sewer - 1 PW: -4 temp Army, +1 Sewer
-[ ] Construct Sewer - 1 PW: -4 temp Army, +1 Sewer
-[ ] Build Espionage Network - 1 PW: -1 Temp Trust, +2 Temp Espionage (Kielmyr)

Gets the Rail Companies up and running at no Pollution! Our soldiers are unhappy at the lack of jobs, so let us give them jobs working on public infrastructure!

Help them help all of us!

Putting our armies all to work on sewers is suicidal. We'll be without any defenses!

Guys, two things.

First of all, everyone who wants to do Build Political Support? Just be aware it means you can't vote for any actions that increase Pollution and decrease Temp SoL because it means when the actions iterate, our happiness should have dropped below 7.

Secondly... Don't forget we need to do a DO to Behryvar, and a BEN in Nohon this turn. Behryvar so we can figure out if they'll be a friend or what and Nohon so we can actually start organising the rebels and disrupt their attempts to industrialise.

Or in other words, yes the shines are very nice, but don't forget all the other priorities that are just as, if not more, critical right now.
For happiness, we just need to start the turn at 8 happiness to use it. Stat iterations happen after actions.

As to BEN Nohon and DO Beh, we very much can afford to leave those for a bit. Beh is pretty much guaranteed to be more aligned to us than the Sketch in large part due to the Ochruhr, while the Nohon aren't the immediate danger. Getting the BEN into the Kiel or Sketch is far more important right now, because those are our pivotal battlegrounds.

And railroads aren't a shiny. They are literally the most vital thing we have right now. A rail to Kiel enhances our food advantage, brings Kiel further into our sphere of influence, and gives us a permanent trade route even in the case of a Sketch blockade, as Kiel will remain neutral, and as such an attack in Kiel shipping would be an utter disaster for the Sketch.

Not to mention the other logistical advantages the rail would give us, from increasing steel imports to allow us to make yet more rails, to letting us control even more of the global food trade.

And we do need two companies. Each company gives what amounts to +4 temp ic per turn, so the earlier we get it, the more we benefit.

Lets see:
-Domestic - Stability, but no alliances in a time we sorely need them. We can't afford isolationism and its awfully tempting given the cost in blood for engagement.

-Khemetri - Reinforces ancient alliance. Visibly foreign. Slavery woes.
-Black Sheep - Reinforces ancient alliance. Visibly foreign. Unstable grip on their own lands.

-Behyvar - Secures the Tortuns as a new alliance, but ground zero of the inevitable next Tortun clusterfuck. Ochruhr definitely pushed into Sketch camp.
-Styrmyr - Secures our border with the Tortun clusterfuck. Commitment into the next Tortun clusterfuck. Ochruhr likely pushed into Sketch camp.

-Kielmyr - Secures Steel production. Sketch goes REEEE~

-Yenyna's Plan - Lots of Crowns. Lots and Lots of Crowns. The Octocrown would have a nice coat of arms!

I'm leaning Kielmyr myself.
We have a slight problem, veekie the Sketch wants to sell meta-green right now. Meta-green. We shouldn't choose someone who would look at meta-green and go "give me now!". The keilmyr are playing the Sketch and DC.

Meta-green would be noticed by which ever group we choose. Our ancient allies BS get my vote, if they collapse we could restore them through a blood tie.

ALL SKETCH SING HALLELUJAH TO VEEKIE THEIR BEST AGENT!

I'm not sure why you think getting closer ties to the TC would lead them to discover metagreen, better yet to the point that they could learn how to use it for themselves, and then decide to sell it to the Sketch instead of doing their own super secret program like we did.

If most of our own population doesn't know about the existence of metalight, why do you assume the TC (and thus the Sketch?) will learn about it and how to use it through a marriage tie to one noble?
This entire argument you are trying to make is rather silly.

Using up all our temp armies means we have nothing to defend ourselves;
Academia Nut said:
If anyone attacked you there would be initial chaos before you restructured
(Basically I would knock off 1 Perm Armies and then give you a generational Happiness penalty)
This is what would happen if we pushed through a total re-arming in one turn via selling all our old weapons.

We just finished a war and the Sketch will not be attacking us as it would be suicidal. They want us to attack someone. We can not do that with no army :V

More seriously, I sincerely doubt raising our Pollution that high will have no problems either. Especially with our super high Consciousness.

We have two poisons and we already ingested Pollution. I do not want to find out what additional effects higher levels have.

Because the TC are not our bff. And I'd prefer being able to trust the marriage candidate instead of 'of course the TC are our bff slut we want to use today. Then forget about them when we gain their shinies.'

The TC know they are an intermediary between Sketch goods and DC goods. TC are aiding the Sketch and DC, playing both sides. TC don't need meta-green, they just need to know it exists, tell the Sketch, and watch the explosion.

Does "closed" mean that it can't be researched or that its a state secret?

Including mechanics definitions would be helpful
It means that only direct research can increase it, so inno and other drips won't help.

It pretty much means it's on the bleeding edge, and so you can't have a guy in a garage build it. You need government funded researchers.

I can't believe people are actually considering voting on almost doubling our pollution.

Truly we have strayed from the light of God, here now at the peak is when Lightning shall most fittingly strike us for our impudence.

The Tree party refuses to support this action and holds the right to claim, "I told you so," for the next seven generations. So fly on Icarus, FLY TO THE SUN, IGNORANT OF THE WAX WHICH DRIPS FROM THINE WING.

This isn't fear mongering, because pollution is bad and clearly this risks narrative consequences. So help me if this degrades our forestry stat.

Er, our current pollution is mostly overcrowding and bad sewage. We can expect extra cholera outbreaks and other fun plagues.

Tree will not really be affected by current pollution. Millions dying of disease? Much more likely.

Neat. Do you have a particular target in mind? Hung is an obvious first choice, but who's second?
Selling weapons to the Hung, this means our military advisers should be more useful/influential as we are providing the tech base they are trained in. As this means they can more easily show why the Hung need modernizing and provide a quick carrot for it.

Honestly I don't care if we don't get much immediate benefit (ie temp Sol) if we are outfitting a friendly Hung with Great -Power peer weaponry & military reforms.

@Academia Nut so how much "obsolete military equipment"* do we have? Cos we have a lot of potential buyers :p And the greatest army in the world means the hilarious amounts of surplus military gear to shift.

*Aka can we keep churning out the "obsolete" to rapidly sell we want to sell to that wants to buy.

Agreed. Even if it's not quite on par with the Nohon's gear, it's a lot better than the alternative. And against bandits? Night and day. Not quite "The Maxim gun and they have not" but it will be a great boost.

Actually I thought of a way to solve it

[ ] Plan Green Industry! Mark II
-[ ] Rapid Develop Industry - 1 PW: +2 IC and Active Development, +1 Pollution, -2 Temp IC
-[ ] Rapid Develop Industry - 1 PW: +2 IC and Active Development, +1 Pollution, -2 Temp IC
-[ ] Found Kale-Yllthon Railway Company - 1 PW, -2 IC, founds company to automatically expand <X> arterial line each turn, IC refunded at end of project

-[ ] Build Espionage Network - 1 PW: -1 Temp Trust, +2 Temp Espionage (Kielmyr)

This drops one of the rail Companies, but still raises Industry and builds two sewers. That means our Industry rises to 14, but does not raise any Pollution. Army does not drop to zero as we have spare temporary Industry to use and thus still have two temporary Industry and temporary Army left.

That means next midturn, the Parties start with nine temporary Industry.

"But we want to speed the railway tho"

Actually, I have a solution to that

Considering the following conversation
Also, I just remembered to explain why the Conservatives are so gungho on the Kale-Yllthon line:

It runs through Wyrmyn and the south-western Gylruv (Not!Ukraine) territory, which is prime agricultural land. While they already have really good river access, this would massively expand the ability of farmers to get grain to market and for the markets to get equipment to the farmers. Thus it is considered to majorly strengthen traditional landowner systems.
Does that mean I can fully support this as the Farmers Party rep?
Yup.
You can talk to your local Farmer Party Representative @Killer_Whale about it. It has there support

As one of the ancient apparitions of Shipping that still lurks in the thread, I have to oppose any efforts to not pair up a Yenyna with a Khemetrian Prince.

... Even if the Octocrown would be cool.
We shouldn't choose someone who would look at meta-green and go "give me now!".
Though I agree with your ultimate conclusion, I have to ask in which world wanting magical healing light is not a rational reaction.

Noooo, no Settle Kyberi actions!

We can clear off the Undeveloped Hinterlands status quickly with the Trans-Kyberi Railway actions funding by temp armies!

The main reason to start the Trans-Kyberi Railway Company now Is so we can start doing some free Settle Kyberi actions

We would want to do some Trans-Kyberi Railway actions too anyway as it take far too long for the railway company to do it if we planning to be at war with the Nohon anytime soon (And we should be planning for that even if we don't want it)

Development 36/53+25%

As we are coming up on max Development I think this is a good idea as I do not want to see what happens to our Pollution if we start going overmax on Development.

Hm. Is there anything we can do about, or towards, the Hespranxer? Make an attempt to try to sway them away from the Sketch? Or at least, try to stalemate the Sketch from further influencing them.

If only we can break up the Sketch and Hespranxer. =/ Things would be a lot easier.

Actually, to just put it here as well

Behold!

The Urban Worker Party Monstrosity Plan!

[ ] Plan Get to Work!
-[ ] Rapid Develop Industry - 1 PW: +2 IC and Active Development, +1 Pollution, -2 Temp IC
-[ ] Rapid Develop Industry - 1 PW: +2 IC and Active Development, +1 Pollution, -2 Temp IC
-[ ] Rapid Develop Industry - 1 PW: +2 IC and Active Development, +1 Pollution, -2 Temp IC
-[ ] Construct Sewer - 1 PW: -4 temp Army, +1 Sewer
-[ ] Construct Sewer - 1 PW: -2 temp Army, -2 temp IC, +1 Sewer
-[ ] Construct Sewer - 1 PW: -4 temp IC, +1 Sewer

Econ
Industrial Cap 18 (0) (Max. 11+75%)
Development 42/53+25%
Pollution 3 (4)

Infrastructure
Sewers 3/7

Martial
Armies 8 [1/8 Rearm] (2)

Just one more regular Develop Industry and we hit cap without additional Pollution!

Midturn we start with 9 temp Industry! Then we can really take off!

Well, we could double-down on selling to the Hung.

Or, well, the CCP come to mind as the second target to sell to. Increase the "won't be crushed" chances for them some more. Also might make them favorable towards us in the long run; which might be great.

And... maybe it might be possible to cooperate with the Hespranxer in Mahaxia? If we find a common interest and work towards that.
(from here)
AN: The Hes have set up training groups with the UPM and CCP
They are making moves against their former colony
The group that the Hespranxer hate the most right now are the New Hespranxia
kiba: wonders why the CCP didn't ask us to train them
AN: They were considering it, but the Hes offered it free, and their methods are considered a bit more useful for their situation
The Hes are hedging their bets. They are actually offering more land training to the CCP and more sea training to the UPM since the UPM can make hell in the Gulf of Mahaxia more effectively
Though, I don't know if it'd be a good idea to try... Or if it might be better to try to back the New Hespranxer against the Syffryn Hes instead. I dunno. If helping the Hes against their colonies worked out wonderfully, we might befriend a quasi-enemy. If not though, then we'd have strengthened an opposed country. Plus, what actions would the Sketch take if we got invested in Mahaxia?

Hey, what would happen if the Hespranxer did manage to end up winning back their colonies? Would they get too strong for the Sketch to feel comfortable with them anymore? Though, how would they act towards us if that happened? But then again, if we had managed to befriend them in the process, maybe they wouldn't want to pick a fight with us...

... But they probably would want to war with the Khemetri for the Gibraltar back. Though IIRC, it was actually the Vortuga who had held the Khem part of Gibraltar for the longest time, right? It wasn't until the Hes took it from them recently-ish; so they actually hadn't had it all that long. (There were still Hes lands in Khem though, so there's that.) ... Bribe them with the Suez Canal maybe?

Remember when we had that one Diplo Genius King who went a bit mad when we insisted on throwing him into war after bloody war? Pretty sure he was the one who invented Absurdism. I remember that he pissed off a lot of the Priests and Upper Nobility with his plays, especially when he had a few laws set up to stop them from being banned by any future rulers.

I'm hoping that the play Yenyna is referencing came from that time, though honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Nokly had written something similar when he was younger.

The King's name is Yshuyn the Mad.
