Research Report diff.

No crazy amount of progress this time, but we finish 19th century logic, which is excellent.

Edit:

4+ Early Industrial Desert Warfare
12+ Early 19th Century Ship Design 16
3+ Universal Rifling 19
5+ Practical Breechloading Rifles 24
2+ Military Engineering 26
10+ Doctrine of Personal Initiative 36
20+ Freedom of Trade 56
4+ Early 19th Century Logic 60
8+ Hiding in the Rainbow 68
7+ Germ Theory of Disease 75

75 RP total.

We have 75 RP fro previous midturn to beginning of turn. 84 RP before midturn.

Research has yet to iterate on projects that are funded by the Academies. So I assume we get another of iteration on current open projects and tech we're researching. Unless open projects are already considered iterated through?

E: Previous beginning turn to mid-turn has us making 109 progress.

Assuming 5 points per Academy projects, and we have 4 of them, we're missing 20 RP. This is a conservative estimate, though.

Syffrinites: *stops laughing* God damn it, the Dual Crown outplayed us again!
Not really? They didn't lose anything, and in fact some of them are clearly enjoying the situation immensely.

To them, we payed the price but got some good deals out of it, which lead to them getting good deals of their own without them having to pay that same price. It's really not something they think we did amazing in.

Uh. If you account for the time period most "wars" were either colonial, revolts/revolutions, and in Russia's case wars with the Ottomans/Egypt/Persia/Caucassus.

It also falls kinda flat when non of our peer powers are in a state of constant war.
I'd note that this is mostly because they were in a state of constant revolution and mutual inter-grinding here. Its not like they don't WANT to fight, they do, but we keep starting fires and they're busy rebuilding before the next match was tossed. And indications seem to be that theres a low level of skirmishing all the time.

But we aren't in that big a war most of the time. We had two Short Victorious Wars, two Everyone Invited gangbangs and the Hung Situation.
Mostly, we're waging war to keep our allies stable longer that I can tell, which thus means our lots of wars were pretty much because we were big enough to have a stake in every pie regardless.
High Pressure Steam Engines and riverine steamboats are going to be a huge help with our transportation infrastructure problems. They'll improve shipping throughput in Khyberia a lot. Not as much as they did in northern America, but they'll help.
Heck yes. Still far below seagoing shipping capacity, but powered riverine transport is just so much more effective that we're going to love it when it kicks in. Transport infrastructure should be more potent for a few bits, disregarding any rivers added to Kyberia compared to Siberia by the climate band shift
Incentives to move in should help.
Physical ability to move in isn't there dude. We're talking a severely mountainous region here.
Move a lot of civilians and you'd lose a lot of them.
Hrn. So we currently have 6 PW. If we spend 5 now, what is the next phase and how much PW will we need then? And aren't we trying to save up for the ConCon?
Next phase is supposed to be a main turn where we get our PW income.
As for the ConCon, we're trying to save up, we're trying to wait for a moment of peace to launch it and the global situation isn't really cooperating.
Our recent spike in permanent SoL helped however. We can afford to ride it a bit longer.
I'm not sure about emptying the coffers. +1 navies would be all very nice, but... Is it worth the cost? And I am not at all sure +3 temp armies are worthwhile. Maybe they'd help a bit with the fight in Kyberia...
Yes, absolutely. Our current Navy score is fighting the Nohon to a draw. If we want to change the embargo situation, every point of Navy helps. Our +3 Temp Armies are going RIGHT into managing both the Nohon land war(which we cannot concede) and Black Sheep peacekeeping.
What is really needed is for the Black Sheep to effectively address the political problem. Without that, our intervention would be a disaster. With that, our intervention would be to our profit. Based on the information we have, we can't be sure of the answer, but generally, it is a good idea to support your allies.

Also, while I think fears of a Sketch puppet state in the OYE regions of the Black Sheep empire are over-blown, things going into melt down here certainly gives them more ability to play games.

With the Hung, we're already heavily invested in supporting them (albeit, not too successfully so far), so the question is, do we want to up the anti? Certainly, the westerners getting more involved in the Hung mess is something we don't want, so military intervention to support them could be to our advantage.
Black Sheep needs time, much like the Khemetri need time. They would implement solutions if only they didn't explode really.

Well, Hespranxer is probably giving various sounds of "Well Played" the Vortuga are probably full of Salt that their ploy to have the Hespranxer pry us open at a bad time just imploded, the Comedy Formerly Known As Ochruhr still hate us on general principles...yeah, pretty much. The Sketch will love it, until things explode

New Hespranxer's level of salt is going to be approaching Vortuga though. Their Queen in Exile was only there because we arranged a change of government! And now they're even worse off.

What is this climate band shift I see referenced every so often?

Hm. Well, if we need peace to go ConCon, then I can definitely see the utility in going for the armies and the navies this turn to try and hold the Black Sheep together and resolve the Hung mess soon.

Speaking of the ConCon, do we know what will be possible during it and does anyone have shopping lists they have for it?

Depends what we can afford, but freedom of speech is probably needed to finally research Academic Freedom tech.

The big thing we still need in order to fix our transort infrastructure is railroads and there are several key techs we still need for that. Aside from the high pressure steam technology which is obviously key we also need cheap iron and iron railroads in order to make trains at all feasible on a large scale.

Oops...

People love to ignore SoL.

SoL and happiness are literally last things that are considered by players.

I tried to fight against that before, many times even. Not this time, sadly.

Consequences, sooner or later, were obvious.

Enormous internal mess and Wyrmyn rebellion are completely deserved.
