But Cotton Gin is what makes slavery profitable again. It needs to be delayed until after slavery is officially banned. All we have to do is bee-line the cotton gin, which, being that we personally have little to no slaves means, we'll have the impetus to do so.
Hopefully
After the cotton gin, we'll just need to invent The Cotton Picker 130 years early! *insane eye twitch*But Cotton Gin is what makes slavery profitable again. It needs to be delayed until after slavery is officially banned.
Those are my feelings on the matter as well.I have to be honest, I don't like the idea of trying to direct our technological and economic development to try to minimize slavery elsewhere in the world. We certainly shouldn't practice it, and if we can take specific action to try and minimize it, we should. But there isn't that much we can do about what happens in America or Australia or such.

There's a bunch of culture techs that didn't come up in this rotation that give mad prestige for researching them, especially if you lead the pack
Shielder Nyan~ - Today at 07:11
Ah, that explains it
Also, Stellaris tech roulette
Academia Nut - Today at 07:12
Yup. Whenever you finish a project I roll and see what cards I deal out to you
Academia Nut - Today at 07:13
Kinda, yeah
Like, you just got a bunch of generally boring techs this rotation
Rifling on the scale we voted to do this turn is outright near half a century ahead of the equivalent year.Mechanized Loom is a boring tech? Can't wait for an exciting one then.

Honestly, I was hoping we could build up our mathematical tech base by taking calculus, as it will greatly assist in scientific and engineering research in general.
The plan was altered almost immediately and I tagged the two people who had voted for it at the same time. Then I altered my first post soon after to show up first in case that mattered. Pretty sure it was the continued discussion about the change afterwards that caused the most confusion, not the two posts that still had the old plan.Next time please just alter your initial plan @8bitBob and tell people what you changed. As is, I am pretty sure there were people that were voting for different plans that had the same name.
The plan would still win even without them, mind you, but this was just a huge mess.
Culture techs? HMMMM... Seems like something which I'd definitely put my weight behind!TL;DR: Prepare for tech roulette and occasional really good techs popping up.
...You still do not understand how you messed upThe plan was altered almost immediately and I tagged the two people who had voted for it at the same time. This[X] [Agenda] Plan 8bit
-[Agenda] 1 PW - Develop Industry
-[Agenda] 1 PW - Claim Kyberi Territory
-[Agenda] 2 PW - Improve Standard of Living
I went with the format that others were using and that AN suggested. I'm not against other formats, though I notice the tally isn't exactly handling that format well either....You still do not understand how you messed up
This
Do not do this
Please add [X] to your vote so that we know for certain what exactly your plan is. That way anyone can just bring up a tally and know exactly what is in your plan. Even just few hours ago we were still seeing altered versions of your plan.
We've disappointed Captain Adama:By my count this is what has won out. Is there any error with this and what people actually thought they were voting for?
[X] [Research] Standardized Rifling (0/30) [Military]
[X] [Research] Mechanized Loom (0/???) [Industrial]
[X] [Agenda] Plan 8bit

People can mess with the tally format to get blocks or plans to show up. Or they can use the net tally program. But the tally will not pick up a line that doesn't have an [X] in front.I went with the format that others were using and that AN suggested. I'm not against other formats, though I notice the tally isn't exactly handling that format well either.
The problem is not everyone bothered to read about the changes, and so if someone read the two old voters, they would thought 8bit was that. The plan was altered almost immediately and I tagged the two people who had voted for it at the same time. Considering we are the cause of the mess in tortun(despite what ymaryn diplomats would tell you, fucking spiders ) and our current government type, a revolution is unlikely, atleast for the current century.Culture techs? HMMMM... Seems like something which I'd definitely put my weight behind!
...to be honest, it kind of saddens me that our culture only passes for "Serviceable," especially considering the fact that being able to define our cultural traits were (and shall continue to be) the most unique aspect of this game. Kind of wish we'd gone for a cultural flourishing... But eh. Water under the bridge! I'm sure we'll reach the levels of the likes of Hespranxer-niichan in time!
Speaking of cultural traits, I wonder if there will be anything like a Vicky II's "National Value" that will define what our population is like and change the way different techs are weighted. Maybe having "Liberty" would vastly increase the chance of getting cultural techs and cause spontaneous events, like new innovations or outbreaks of republican revolutionaries (CAN YOU HEAR THE PEOPLE SING?!), while something like PDM's "Productivity" would increase the chances of getting industrial techs and give us chances to improve manufacturing throughput. I dunno; I just hope there will be more facets of Ymaryn society that we will be able to shape than just stats and modifier bonuses.
So we are like the Greeks? If I'm parsing this correctly, we have culture, but it's the same culture we had for a while, and in this day and age you don't get to skate by on past successes.
Part of the reason why we have Culture techs is that, aside from getting extra sophisticated cultures, depending on which culture techs get researched, could end up in making us get massive Prestige if we complete it early enough. In another example, one of the reason why the Hexes and the Vortugas managed to have a much higher rank than us, is because they are, as AN said and I paraphrase, ahead on us on the Culture and Conquest game. Since the thread isn't likely to stomach outright military game, the best (and perhaps only other) alternative to close the gap on Culture game. Alongside all that we've been doing with upping up our frontiersman-ship and industrial acceleration anyway.Culture techs? HMMMM... Seems like something which I'd definitely put my weight behind!
