I'll roll the other one.

12 successes on the dice, and thus something like 36 total. More than enough for what we're trying here.

Forgor. Go ahead and roll 2 more for the runes

Sure, I'll do runes as well on the first one.

And that's 8 successes, so at least 32, still easily Wondrous.

I'll do the second second roll.

I'll do the second second roll.

That's only 3 successes on the dice. 27-29 successes total, so the runes on the second item are 'merely' Mastercraft. If it's still Smithing, then we could maybe get that to Wondrous with a Reward Die or two.

@Imperial Fister is it indeed still smithing for runework (on metal items) in NQ2, and is Wondrous needed for the effect we're aiming for?

Wait. We all forgot Sundersight! I'll roll it on the last Rune roll.

EDIT: And that gets it to Wondrous, I think. The others all being Wondrous already don't need extra from Sundersight.

Might be worth talking to Sten soon about what's got his underwear in a knot and if there's anything Halla can do to help. Although I get the feeling she's part of his problem. Still it's better to get this out in the open and dealt with now rather than letting it fester.

I agree, but we do have other stuff that's also urgent, and that probably deserves to be a Focus action. Along with talking to Halfdan, the weregild thing, and maybe talking with Abjorn's family if we decide to initiate rather than waiting for them...those are the four most urgent Focus Actions, I think, but ordering them could be tricky.

Gossip about Magni
According to stories, gossip, and rumors, Magni Little-Rock is the sole son out of three children—with himself being the youngest. Before the Riot Wars in Geirstadt began, he was set to inherit a substantial amount of land and property once his father died. As fate would have it, though, the lands were razed and near-obliterated in the fighting, resulting in a short period of wandering before his family settled down in Jurgdby.

His father and mother passed soon after arrival, leaving Magni and his two sisters to fend for themselves. Taken into the care of Corpsemaker, Magni grew up without parents of any kind. Supposedly, he later attempted to marry a woman in Jurgdby but failed in this goal, which resulted in him coming to the Hading to escape the shame.

A man in his early twenties, Magni is often quiet and pensive when he's not rough-housing with Tryggr and his other friends. He prefers fishing over farming and can often be found snoozing on riverside shores with his hat pulled low over his eyes and his hands propping up his head.

He doesn't seem to get along very well with Hakon Thunderclap, for whatever reason. The pair just don't like each other and have almost come to blows on more than one occasion. You've accounted for this in your hearth seating arrangements, of course, and placed them as far away from each other as realistically possible.

Calling For Congress with Corpsemaker
"I hope you understand the situation you've put me in here," that's the first thing Corpsemaker's fylgja says as he sits down across your soulscape's table. "Jogrim Foestep's friends and allies are clamoring for me to support their vengeance on you." He sighs as odd, finger-like claws rub at his fylgja's black-masked snout, "In order to assuage their feelings of wrath, I've said that I will send a dozen Kyrsvikings to collect weregild or, if the situation should come to pass, support Jogrim's family in taking vengeance." He stares you dead in the eye as he folds his 'fingers' before him, "I highly recommend you pay the weregild, for the men I'm sending will be hand-picked to hard-counter you and yours."

Swallowing the lump in your owly throats, you nod and smooth out ruffled feathers, "I... I understand. When can I expect their arrival?"

"The next full moon, in two weeks' time," a smile crosses Corpsemaker's face as he claps his hand-like paws and changes topic. "Now that that's out of the way, you called me regarding the Dorri situation, yes?"

Blinking at the sudden shift of subject matter, you quickly collect yourself and jump right in, "I... Yes, the Dorri situation." Taking a moment to realign your thoughts, you nod to yourself before continuing, "I wanted to get on the same page as you regarding timing and everything."

"A good idea," Corpsemaker shows his appreciation with a nod as he thinks for a moment, "you've asked me to wait for you to make ready, which is what I've been doing. I am prepared to strike whenever the word is given."

With that, the conversation ends and Corpsemaker returns to running his Jarldom.

@Imperial Fister Did we get any Orthsirr from the Jogrim fight? I thought it might be included in this update after it wasn't included in the last update, but at the moment, we haven't gotten any Orthsirr from the fight.

Hey Halla,

What do you know about Arnfinn? Did he ever say why he keeps coming to your botequests?

We still got the rewards from the aborted timeline's post, which included +1 Orthstirr, already on our sheet. That should probably be added to the post above to avoid confusion, though.

I'm not feeling super great right now, so I may take a while to answer anything—if at all—so...

Well, voting is now open

Okay, so this turn, check. Do we need to spend an action on that? Should it be a Focus Action?
As I've said, it is your choice. You pick actions based on what you want to see the most of.

Forgor, sorry. All the stuff you got from the now-vanished update still apply
Hey Halla,

He's a young man in search of orthstirr

So it does need to be an action of some sort? Check. Okay, here's a slightly more tentative than usual plan. I think the actual choices made are all good (and we have a bit of extra xp due to a mechanical error on my end), but several things remain undefined:

1. Our two Alloy/Magic Item testing items are undefined.
2. Need to work out what Runes and Experiences we use on our Bolt Thrower
3. No idea of what to put in our final Fylgja slot after removing some shields.

[X] Plan Spin Control

-[X] [Focus] Talk With Halfdan
--[X] Start by talking about what happened with the Hading Witch (we don't intend to spread the story, but we do need to know if possible), and any oaths Halfdan may have with Dorri. Assuming he's not sworn to side with Dorri in fights or something, try and get him on-side for our looming conflict with Dorri...we would mention Dorri was involved in setting up the Revenge Raid if he needs convincing, as well as the Drysalt thing.
--[X] Ensure absolute privacy, including from things like ants, using various privacy wards, Eyespeech to impart more sensitive information, and Owl-Eye Pulse and similar abilities to check for eavesdroppers.

-[X] Put effort into controlling the public narrative about us, our family, and the fight we just had.
--[X] We have good social skills and a burgeoning skald on payroll, we should be able to defray unpleasant rumors and start nicer ones with some effort. Now seems the time for that.
--[X] This probably involves visiting a number of people and talking with them a fair bit
--[X] We'll particularly emphasize that we have never been aggressors against other Norsemen except when honor absolutely required it. All the Norsemen we've killed were either trying to kill us, or had done something to us or our retainers that demanded we take action. We don't start fights, we just finish them.

-[X] Attempt to utilize our revelations from last time to advance Sword Stepping
--[X] Start by asking Kurt's advice on how to train our Sword Stepping since he seems to have picked it up
--[X] If his solution is not immediate, and this doesn't contradict it, train using a wooden sword, seal away Frenzy, and use no hugareida or martial styles to get the feel down. If that works we can start adding those things back in.
--[X] Doing all that, attempt to move without thought, becoming one with the sword and allow Cause, Action, and Effect to become one.

Training:

-[X] (Training) Hamr (511 xp to rank up)
--[X] Train Combat 142xp (71xp)

-[X] (Training) Hugr (255 xp to rank up)
--[X] Train Standstill 36xp (18xp)

-[X] (Work Options)
--[X] Craft Forged Iron Endless Coffee Flask (with a cover to prevent spilling and runes for heating and stirring) (1 Work)
--[X] Craft 6 Alarm Charms (2 Work)
--[X] Attempt to Alloy Fight Of Your Life and Stoker State (1 Work)
--[X] Craft 1 Superior Shield with a Bog Iron Rim (1 Work)

--[X] (Crafting) Work on improving Sagaplate, spending 3 Odr (9 Work)
--[X] (Crafting) Try to make Drafty Iron Bolt Thrower (+16 successes from Tools/Workshop) (2 Work)
---[X] Adding bone ash from a bird of prey
---[X] Add runes saying "May firing me be as easy as taking a breath and as fast as thought." (Hopefully makes reloading less of an issue and firing quicker)
---[X] Add Fire In the Sky Muna as an Experience
--[X] (Crafting) Try to make Storm Iron Fleinn (+16 successes from Tools/Workshop) (2 Work)
---[X] Using the bone ash from a bird of prey
---[X] Adding runes like Crowfeeder's and another set like Tryggr's saxes to make it return to us
---[X] Add the Failing Vortex muna as an Experience

-[X] Special Note: On all Crafting add the following if possible unless otherwise specified:
--[X] Using Sundersight (+1d3 Successes)
--[X] Stoking Frami, Virthing, and Saemd (for +1 Success each, +3 successes total) and spending 1 Odr to enhance the crafting process (for +2 successes each on the crafting and the runes)

-[X] (Fylgja Capacity)
--[X] Remove two shields, add our endless mug of coffee.

-[X] (Incidentals)
--[X] Infuse 16 Odr into Combat and 8 Odr each into Scouting and Tactics
--[X] Adding Taafl Board Capacity Gains to: Abjorn
--[X] Receiving Metal from Dwarves: 24 oz Forged Iron, 6 oz Dusty Iron,

EDIT: Switched Focus Action to talking to Halfdan since we get the opportunity to pay the weregild however it goes.
EDIT2: with deadline looming, added Runes and Experiences, and so on (the incomplete stuff mentioned above).

There are no inherent advantages or disadvantages to assigning actions to anything. All that changes is the amount of effort I put into writing that section. That's it.

I mean on one level, fair enough, on another level since we need to spend actions on things like research or gaining essential information, it's relevant to what opportunities we have access to. But if there's no need on this specific matter, then there's no need...

With that in mind, swapped the Focus action over to the Halfdan conversation.

Can we had offering Infusions to our retainers? We have been putting it off for some time. But now seems like a good time to do it.

Especialy since the next battle might be close, and they could need the extra strength.

At least Kare and Kurt earned themselves an Infusion, we can offer them to the others and see who wants them enough to swear themselves to us.

I think odds favor the next battle not being for a while, but yeah, we could offer that again in the near future. More people might take us up on it and there are more things we can meaningfully Infuse (notably, Combat and Wordplay are both actually good for our retainers and quite doable...7 Odr for +1 Initiative, Speed, and Stamina is a really good rate of return, as is 3 Odr for +2 Capacity). Giving those to Stigmar and Tryggr seems reasonable, and we can probably get our other actual sworn retainers on board as well at this point since those two haven't had any problems.

Probably we're not doing Hugr Infusions to make people berserk at this point, and we likely want to wait for those in Wessex to come back (they aren't sworn to us, but they should still get the offer of what swearing can get them).
