Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

sigh.... Seriously? we're going down everything a nail route? that makes me sad.

I rather went down Infinite enhancement or transcendent gadgeteer.
While infinite enhancement would've been nice, gadgeteer had too little utility as a secondary class for the amount of time we needed to put into it. It would be far better to get someone else to devote to it full time.

We don't have to treat everything as a nail. We talked Purity down just fine, and if we're actually willing to vote for it, we can find people to add to the magic club. Hell, Taylor will be forced to rely on potential friends for utility. It just means that we have to be willing to play the quest that way, giving socializing and dealing with allies a higher priority. But if we do end up finding a nail, we have one of the biggest fucking hammers around.

:lol:rofl:Dude! Where have you been most of the quest? We are garbage at socializing! We've all but ditched the organization we're officially a member of!

We are garbage, but if we want to have options down the road (or fix up the communicator anytime soon), we have no choice but to try socializing. Mostly, I'm just hoping that if I keep saying something about it we might actually manage to get a partner or two for Taylor.

Really, I didn't vote for properly working with the Privateers at the time because I wanted Taylor to have different options first.
Once the current crises is over, I am going to be pushing hard to work with the Privateers. And to scan and create a gadgeteer template for one of their members.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't @Silently Watches say that between Alexander, Kurt or Lacey, one of them would be a match for a mage template?

I said that I would be rolling 15 d100, maybe 16 considering Lacey is in the running. If one of them pops up >95, the Linker Core goes to Tim the accountant. (Who, if you make a magitech artificer, could then call himself Tim the Enchanter. :V) If you luck into a second one, it would go to Lacey. If you somehow get three or even four, I'm calling bullshit and then trying to figure out who to give them to.

As said before though, scanning is going to have to wait until this mess is over. While I would definitely like to see us working with the Privateers more, and I would definitely like to see one of them become a Gadgeteer, we're kind of too busy at the moment to be able to do that. Plus of the Privateers, I'm fairly certain the only one here is Danny.

Well, yeah, but we don't really have enough to work with for short term planning, so doing some longer term planning isn't out of order. Plus, it helps me keep my mind off the possibility of Lung!Butcher for the moment.

I thought it took a while before the powers and the insanity of the Butcher set in its new host.
I can't point to anything specific that makes me think this, but my understanding is that it took time for the insanity to set in, but not the powers. The powers and voices are transferred immediately, it's just that the new host goes nuts from the constant voices never giving him/her a moment's peace.

So in true Simurgh fashion the collective picked the worst possible person, someone they could hijack right off the bat.

Lung, Oni Lee, Valefor all would love to use Butcher's powers to inflict maximum damage to heroes without any brainwashing.
Lung has been content to squat in his territory and has a strong enough will to resist the CUI's brainwashing, so combined with him being on another part of the battlefield I'm a bit doubtful on him being the hos.
Oni Lee has little free or personality will remaining, so while I'd consider it technically not free will, the Butcher collective would be able to run Oni Lee pretty quickly. They'd stop using his teleports once they figure out this version hurts them, but it's still an unresisting body.
Valefor, I totally agree on him freely going for it. But that'd mean Valefor killed the Butcher.

Right now Lung trapped in quarantine and besieged by heroes, including Duumvirat. If he believes all-out attack let him get away, he will do it.

But that'd mean Valefor killed the Butcher.
Cherish handled it. I'm sure, Valefor is capable to do it too. He need just one eye contact.

Lung just wanted to rule Brockton, IIRC. Him breaking out would be a massive change in character. Then again, Ziz-bombs.
OK, that was clever.

I'm certainly not disputing that. Just remarking on the sequence of events that scenario would require. And wondering how it got to that point.

I read a version of the Butcher that had the Butcher go insane not only because of multiple voices in your head, but because the human mind/brain is literally not designed to have multiple consciousness in it.

So, Danny can take people over without their consent, yes? That's why we were informed that had we not learned about Danny and him not learned about us, he would have been able to break the Endbringer truce and we would have ended up killing him. With that in mind, odds that he can take control of the Butcher so that others can restrain Butcher? We know remarkably little about some of the Butchers powers, so an anti-master/anti-thinker is possible, but we don't have confirmation.

Or I could be completely off base...

Human brain also not designed to receive output from millions of bugs, but Skitter had somehow grown accustomed to it in a week.
Probably because bugs didn't talking with her and didn't demanding to kill anyone.

As I understand, Danny is not actually controlling people, but focusing them on desired goal and coordinating them.
Butcher who is focused on Butcher's restraining is pretty fun thing to watch, I think, but it will be too dangerous to get Danny close enough to take over.

No. He's Khepri-light.
ABILITIES
  • Jolly Cooperation – When affected by his powers, humans find themselves focusing on the same goals and working together with preternatural teamwork. Duration: 30 minutes.
  • Pooled Knowledge – Everyone affected by his powers shares sensory input, allowing information to be instantly relayed from the field to headquarters and back again. Duration: 30 minutes.

From

Butcher Super strength and could inflict agony at range
Butcher II All former Butcher abilities, could see blood vessels through walls
Butcher III All former Butcher powers, had danger sense and super strength
Butcher IV Inflicted wounds would fester and rot
Butcher IX All former Butcher powers, along with super strength and rage aura
Butcher VI All former Butcher powers, could teleport with an explosion at the emergence site
Butcher VIII All former Butcher powers, and could manipulate earth and sand
Butcher XI All former Butcher powers, along with super strength
Butcher XII All former Butcher powers, could ignore pain and had enhanced durability
Butcher XIII All former Butcher powers, along with super strength
Butcher XIV/Quarrel All former Butcher abilites, can guarantee attacks hit
Additionally, no anti-master or anti-thinker power was demonstrated. Otherwise Cherish wouldn't have been able to kill her.
Or I could be completely off base...
I'm afraid you are a bit.
EDIT:

More like her double-triggering.

Except Lung has already tried to break out. That's what got the ABB/Teeth/Fallen fracas started, him and the ABB breaking out and in the process killing some of the Teeth and Fallen. He wanted to rule a city, yes, but he had no particular interest in Brockton Bay in and of itself other than it boasted a large number of Asian gangs he could conscript.

Look back at Lung's interlude. If there is one thing he deeply despises, it is being looked down on. Contessa beat him and dismissed him, and he vowed to take revenge. The Yangban tried to break him down, and he vowed to take revenge. Teacher saw him as a pawn, and he vowed to take revenge. Being bound to a Simurgh quarantine zone, a threat confined to a little box and subsequently forgotten about? Of course he's going to break out, and he's going to kill anyone who gets in his way.

Was that ever actually confirmed in-story or out? I think I remember Number Man (?) speculating about it, but I don't remember Wildbow ever confirming (or denying) that.

...Still really, really hoping it isn't Lung, because he sure as hell doesn't need more powers.
