So the only true benefit for Taylor's subclass being Gadgeteer is that she is more likely to be in her lab if people go looking for it?
As for the non-combat plotlines, I could see that there are only things TG would open up, but that would also be true for IE.
Really doesn't outweigh the downsides, such as;
Needing to choose between growth and advancing the plot. To be fair and as mentioned above, I can see collaborations with other Tinkers such as Dragon being both, but that isn't likely to be often.
Questlines that are put off, in order to make things, continue unimpeded and get more difficult or resolves in a way that we get no reward from it and irrevocably changes the playing field.
Has no inherent abilities that can be used outside of a lab in addition to being inferior to the original. Tools made by Taylor up to her limit and a Privateer's are the same no matter who it is handled by.
