Yeah, it is a good choice for livestock. Chickens eat it, goats do, Lizards actually like it.Hmm... how well does Sandwheat work as feed for livestock? I imagine it would do well with chickens, as birds don't have a sense of taste to be offended by it?
Power-tools in general would help with construction quite a bit. Also a suggestion - we do a lot of digging. Would we benifit from electric jackhammers?
Hell, we've got steam power on the way and currently have hydraulic/mechanical power. Which means pneumatic jackhammers should definitely be possible if we can't crack electric ones. Also a suggestion - we do a lot of digging. Would we benifit from electric jackhammers?
Yes, though they would be behind the second electricity research. Also a suggestion - we do a lot of digging. Would we benifit from electric jackhammers?
How good is our ability to make pneumatic-powered tools? Because that was the stepping stone between mechanical/hydraulic power source right there and electric's generator somewhere near the town.Yes, though they would be behind the second electricity research.
You would need to reasearch them first, but you could produce some basic version of them. It would be 16 Successes research. (Electric ones would be 20.)How good is our ability to make pneumatic-powered tools? Only truly efficient in a small town scale really, but that's what we're dealing with right now.
Anything beneficial from that research we wouldn't get from the electric one? I'm sure there's some, but I'm not sure just how uneven our technological advancement is thanks to the salvaged nature of some of the inspiration for what we develop. You would need to reasearch them first, but you could produce some basic version of them. Phnumatic tools are actually generally more powerful than electric, but they need a much more complex power transmission. Electric tools are fairly portable if you can make a portable generator. Phnumatic tools need ether a fluid pump (hydrolics are low speed, high power), a compressor (air phnumatics are high speed, still good power), or direct drive (potentially high speed AND power dependant on your power source).Anything beneficial from that research we wouldn't get from the electric one? For example, we learned how to make basic computer circuits of some sort at the same time as cracking electric lighting I think...
So we might end up developing a replacement for the pneumatics that requires a much more advanced technology whilst also barely developing the technology for the simple replacements.
I think this would require us to grow sandwheat in the first place. Probably best to wait until the village is set up and have them grow it.I am thinking a system to bleach and separate sandwheat fibers and bind them into sheets.
Really any fibrous plant would do, from wood to sandwheat to any other crop with tough fibery bits.On the power tools side, we have a plasma torch that is probably beyond our reach for the forseeable future. We also have a soldering kit that is much more affordable to research.

1. Paper is really cheap to buy, and you already buy that in bulk.1. Another good tech for us would be learning how to make our own paper. I am thinking a system to bleach and separate sandwheat fibers into pulp and bind them into sheets.
2. It would reduce the cost of our admin building and have synergy if we build a printing press. We could get into the penny dreadful romance novel business, but write our morals into the stories to spread our virtues beyond just those who are explicitly pilgrams.
3. It would also be a PR win to have a running harem anime type story with a loveable but unlucky pilgram protagonist.

Pneumatic would be power, but costly, while elcectric would be cheap but less effective. The difference would be 2 turns with pneumatic jackhammer versus electric ones when building an 8 turn building inside the Tree.Phnumatic tools are actually generally more powerful than electric, but they need a much more complex power transmission. Electric tools are flexible though, generally able to switch between speed/power by adjusting very simple bits inside them.
Phnumatics, especially air phnumatics are also generally loud as crap.
Boy, if only we had something that could provide a lift. Like an Anti-Gravity Crystal from the Forest...
Empire: Yes, what do you want? (Diplomatic approach. They are ambivalent and wary of each other.)@HeroCooky what is the general protocol that the major nations use when Fractal Nova wanders near their borders or into their claimed land? Has Eversun tried to kill her yet?
who is this?
The Shield Belt Alliance is a collection of 27 nations between the Eversun and the Empire. Their alliance is out of pure self-preservation, as alone they would have been annexed by the superpowers to the north and south of them immediatly.

*hint hint, nudge nudge*
@HeroCooky how common are fully realized sapient AIs that are intact and want to help humanity like PD? Are they somewhat rare or common or borderline unheard of.
