Rumor Mill Turn 85
Rumors:
Shield-Belt Alliance Claims Re-Enforced Containment Of The Infectious Geometry - The Tessen Speaker
After turning down the generous offer of the Emperor to supply further WWs to the SBA so that they can contain the Infectious Geometry without having to worry about potentially running low, the leaders of the same have now announced that, with the aid of the various hazardous terrains created by the bombardments, a new cordon has been established and is being reinforced by the day with ever more soldiers, materials, machines, and fortifications. Though the material expenses are still being tallied and are sure to be staggering, the costs in lives are estimated to be thankfully low and not to exceed the five digits.

Flying Trade Expidition Of The Merchant Guild Sets Out - The Truthful Observers
Having acquired quite a substantial number of airships from House Dal and its air yards, the Merchant Guild has announced that it will undergo a trade expedition around the Empire, cutting a trip that would take at least four years short by three due to the reduction in travel time flying allows. Though luxury goods will be prioritized, mail, passengers, and priority shipments will be taken aboard to be delivered, and people can visit local offices to purchase storage space or berths and passage for the trip. This will promise to be an unforgettable journey, so we urge all interested in air travel and have the means to purchase their place aboard to seriously consider taking part.

Lady Ti Alker Found Dead - Rags, Rumors, And Rants
Lady Ti Alker, a woman commonly known as a patron of the arts and a dabbler in the world of industrial investments, announced two months ago that she would step down from her position as the head of her House due to medical reasons that left her unable to properly fulfill the duties expected of her, leaving her son to take over the mantle. Though even he seemed surprised, he remarked that; "my mother has always been a woman priding herself on her strength. She only confided in me the nature of her ailment last week, which has caused quite a stir as I tried to ensure I won't fail her and our people too severely while I become accustomed to my, temporary, position. That she chose such a measure on short notice is a testament to how bad things have gone, but I hope she can quickly recover." Though such a statement speaks volumes about his filial piety, it did, sadly, not help, as Lady Ti Alker was found dead in her bed not even three days ago. But while House Alker and its people are in mourning, a weight could be lifted off the shoulders of the newly elevated Lord Alker, as an autopsy proved that the cause of death was an aneurysm in her brain during her sleep and not foul play. Yet, the death of such a patron of the arts is sure to be felt, though several have already promised to create art celebrating her life and her person as thanks for her patronage.

Region Report/s

Bone Valley

There has been little of note happening here, with the most exciting being introducing our Chapter to the local Merchant Guild representative. Though the young woman seemed as straight-laced as any old-bitten merchant who knows their way around a market or a trade route, she quickly became far more animated when talking to some of the artisans we managed to convert, their expertise with crafting traditional tiny palm-sized trinkets bringing out her inner religious side as she watched them carve various bone charms on commission for a local shaman. Besides that, there was a small earthquake, with few deaths and injuries not exceeding the lower double digits when counted together. Recovery efforts have already been completed.

Sunken Hollows

Hello, this is Akane.

In short: shit's only medium bad, and people do not trust us a single step.

In long; we arrived without any major incidents (Seren getting chased out of that one village with a pitchfork doesn't count; she had it coming.) and managed to acquire a section of Ash to settle in and get our feet dry. I say dry due to the fact that they were already wet, what with all the swamp everywhere. After that, we spread out and tried to get a lay of the land, but people were aggressively dismissive in their intentional ignoring of us whenever a Mutated approached in the first week, and then afterward for all Pilgrims when news of me leading the local Chapter spread. On the flip side, those we managed to convert have been more than happy to share what they know about the local situations and happenings, with a dozen spots for scavenging already marked and ready to be plundered once we have a solid base, more information, and the Sunken Guard have arrived.

Beyond that, I am happy to announce that nobody managed to start a war or uncover the next Behemoth/Dreadnought-level threat from the local bog.

With tired farewells,
Akane.

Spy-Network:

The Marquess of Tessen has given birth to a healthy young girl without mutations, named Alva. A Region-wide celebration will happen next season to celebrate the occasion.

House Ulatarn is continuing with its usual business.

House Mirn has almost finished the botanical exhibition and is advertising heavily. Rumors have it that the buildings and machinery will be repurposed into hydroponics once the exhibition is finished.

The Military has engaged with the outlying tendrils of a swarm of rustbeetles with extreme prejudice, hoping to burn and kill enough to veer the main body away from Tessen. The reveal of the rustbeetles being the source of the worry and force concentrations of the Military has been taken with some relief, as the cat-sized insects are relatively easy to kill if preparations are made in time.

The Bureau For Imperial Civilian Logistics has had to evacuate their local headquarters after a section was catapulted into the sky. However, it awarded Ja Na-Mir with a special grant after it was confirmed that the rooms had breached the upper atmosphere before descending into an empty part of the Wastes again. Unrelatedly, they are out of Suspendium, and its regional power plants have suffered catastrophic damage.

The Followers of Light are mostly returning to their duties but are still annoyed at the background sentiments against the Pilgrims.

The Adventurer Guild is salivating at the massive amounts of butcher contracts being sent their way to deal with the rustbeetle corpses piling up.

Dirty Daggers are spreading out their operations...to everywhere. Nearly every City and the majority of Towns have some measure of their people, with gangs and outposts springing up everywhere they have a presence.

The Family continues with their strategy of "going legal" with their business. Though we have no evidence, Needle suspects they are trying to position themselves to take the long-term hegemony of crime-related airship commerce and travel.

The Common People are eager to celebrate the birth of young Alva of Tessen. The rumors and sentiments against the Piglrims are slowly ebbing down.

The Mutated are eager to celebrate the birth of young Alva of Tessen. Though the anti-mutated views are breaking down thanks to the efforts of the Pilgrims, most still linger enough to make many wary of going out alone at sunset. Or in broad daylight should they leave their slums.

Lmao, how the hell did they manage that? Thought they had our research.

Yeah, but they are doing their own too. I mean, the Emperor is basically halfway through all Suspendium branches by now. Also, the BICL is the sort to throw science at the wall and then see what sticks and doesn't, then begin further testing on both.
*wheeze* So how big of a DC reduction is this?

You forgot to include the latter here when doing the calcs, so we should have all 5/5 Turns Complete.

Great, more free advertising! For now though, we should have time yet to continue researching and planning out the next-gen designs.

It is a relief, but the lack of communication is an issue. Unless of course, the rustbeetles are the cover for whatever is really going on.

I assume that Sebastian orbit is not in the same normal vector than the other planets, otherwise is hard to justify it existing.

It all points out to rampant AI warfare.l on this one so chances that whatever was it, it craved a chunk on civilized space so any stellar state does not exist on its previous form anymore.

That system has definitely been altered recently, because there's no way that's a stable configuration over the span of billions of years of development. It's almost certainly not even stable on a span of millions of years. Maybe not even thousands of years.

I wonder how the re-roll will be played here? The Adventurer Guild being too busy with whatever just exploded? People refusing to talk about the Buried City?

We could finish this during the next Turn with Sandcrete. Assuming it is applicable.

Anyway, we do get everything between Common and Pioneer Theory, right? No need to pick up the 'lower' Theories?

Shield-Belt Alliance Claims Re-Enforced Containment Of The Infectious Geometry - The Tessen Speaker
It says a lot about how dangerous ruins are when they consider five-digit casualties low. Especially in an area that was fortified and prepared.

Flying Trade Expidition Of The Merchant Guild Sets Out - The Truthful Observers
Hmm, we can do our own soon too. Probably to one of our other Chapters.

Lady Ti Alker Found Dead - Rags, Rumors, And Rants
Huh, IS or caused by the White Forest's influence on her? A brain aneurysm could be either.

Well, WoG is that Internal Security wasn't behind that, sooo....

Hmm, we will have to keep looking for Artefacts that might be useful to them. Maybe get some armor Artefacts from the Merchants? We can also start sending Engineers and Scientists soon. Doctors will have to wait until after we build our own medical school.

Could have been worse. It was obvious a Mutated leader would cause issues with most of the population. Sending a trade expedition in their direction might do a lot to get others to talk with them.

The Marquess of Tessen has given birth to a healthy young girl without mutations, named Alva. A Region-wide celebration will happen next season to celebrate the occasion.
Presumably financed by the Marquess. I'm not sure how doing a festival before or after that would be taken.

We will have to see if that's everything or if the beetles are running from something.

Neat, a start on a space program. The other nations might focus on that once they realize they can't outproduce the Empire on the airship front.

Dirty Daggers are spreading out their operations...to everywhere. Nearly every City and the majority of Towns have some measure of their people, with gangs and outposts springing up everywhere they have a presence.

Not sure what to do about this besides weakening the gang culture. It seems a bit risky that The Family is focusing so much on airships. One quarantined region or the Empire redirecting Suspendium for war and ... Well.

Honestly it's hilarious the gap of pilgrims being seen as pacifist by some while being really, really good at making weapons and quite trigger happy.

Thanks for reminding me. 1d100 please?
And you got a Pioneer Theory due to the Nat100, not a Common one. And while I have hidden unlocks for certain amounts/combinations of Theories, they primarily function as DC reductions, so there are no 'lower' ones.

A turn is three months, so enough time to do one.

So looking at our Weapons techs,

Bright-Lances are still at -02/-53/-86

Cutting Edge is at 31/-01/-57

Gas Grenades are 88/31/-76

Fire Grenades are 37/-33/-121

Mortar is at 99/87/42

Primitive Flamethrowers are all at 99

So I think we can use Flamethrowers to fill space while Mortars would only need a few artefacts to get 3 per turn, though it would still take a while.

Mortars are fixed mortars or missile lunching systems? Honestly I wonder if we can get a military contract to make a service rifle for them. I think they have to use bowman still.

Mortars are fixed mortars or missile lunching systems?
They are an upgrade to the ones we currently use. So we would go from Mortar - Prototype to Mortar - Standardized. Which would probably then bring the Army to our door with procurement contracts.

Honestly I wonder if we can get a military contract to make a service rifle for them. I think they have to use bowman still.
The Crossbows they use are apparently as good as a bolt rifle, so not that big of an upgrade to develop guns.

RL bolt action rifle, my bad. Though I think they have more fire rate iirc. I know Cooky said they were more or less equivalent to guns.
Not all gun are made equal trough, magazine semi automatic Guns would be a noticible improvment. Trough knowing the bullshit the military have to face i think more on granade luncher and anti material rifles fill a niche they don't really have.

Thanks for reminding me. 1d100 please?

Right now in our Theory tally, you have a separate Common Electronics Theory and an Advanced Electronics Theory, which suggested that they're separate levels that have to be picked up one at a time.

Anyway, dice.
