Huh, and we already have those as emergency gear in our airships?
In a general "hold onto this large backpack with other people in case of crash" sense. You do not yet posses the technology/understanding of suspendium to make them anything more than emergency emergency bail-outs.

You mostly operate under a "if you go down, you are probably already being eaten/are about to get killed by the wildlife/what brought you down" mindset.

Rumor Mill Turn 84
Rumors:
Further Nuclear Bombardment Announced And Detected By The SBA and Forge-Clans - The Tessen Speaker
Despite the recently used WWs on the Infectious Geometry and the subsequent emergency deployment of staggering amounts of soldiers and materials alongside the deployment of units held at bay to be deployed in times of crisis, the SBA has announced the usage of nine more nuclear warheads, with the subsequent detonations recorded by various Forge-Clans at the specified times and intensities. The mass use of WWs against a Necropolis once thought adequately handled and contained has sparked raging debates among many nations surrounding the alliance, especially their Associate States and the Quiet Brook Region, with even the Eversun turning its attention from rebuilding and defending its territory from outside and internal attacks toward the SBA. Both Ashen Warden, the new ruler of the Eversun ever since the Night Warden victory in the Civil War, and Emperor Elianus have extended offers of additional warheads to be sent to the SBA if it seems like they are running out or deem their stocks too low to contain a potential third outbreak. However, despite the proposals, the SBA unanimously declined the offers but thanked all who offered to send weapons and equipment to the defense, stating that, as of now, there is no reason to believe that the worst has not been overcome and proper defensive installations and fortifications can be constructed. Local observers able to send word back have lent weight to these statements.

Concerning Speed Of Pilgrim Orphanage Construction And Acquiring Of Required Permissions Raises Hackles - The Truthful Observers
Though it is a well-known story for many, especially the younger generation, the construction of another building under joint staffing and supervision between the Pilgrims and the Followers of Light has attracted more attention since concerns were first raised last season. Already seen with suspicion by several concerned children's rights watch groups, the speed at which the Pilgrims managed to construct their newest orphanage, using copious amounts of "voluntary labor donated" by Mutated, has thrown severe doubt on the legality of the matter in the minds of many, as the required bureaucratic processs couldn't have been completed in such a speedy fashion without less-than-savory means. Construction on the scale the Pilgrims are currently doing is not easily pushed through, much less when the purpose is to raise the most vulnerable members of the Empire within them: orphans that have lost their parents and family to combat, disease, misfortune, and crime. The fact that many orphans growing up within Pilgrim orphanages seem to be adopted by the Pilgrims themselves raises additional warning signs for many. One can only hope that the current accusations and rumors floating around are just that, but if not...

Danger Rears Its Ugly Head Once More - Rags, Rumors, And Rants
Seems like the news cannot offer any good stories that lift the heart and feed the soul these days, as not merely the SBA struggles against a Necropolis deciding to stir up trouble but also because the Military has officially issued readiness orders to every village's and town's militia and Guard on the Core-Ward border. The reason for that move has, as of yet, not been disclosed to the public outside of the affected settlements. Still, the lack of evacuations of our colonists and their possessions can point to problematic but not city-threatening levels of danger. While it is likely that the adventurer squads currently setting out into the unclaimed Wasteland are meant to act as a scouting force, it is equally possible that they are supposed to draw whatever has the Military on edge into a prepared trap to swiftly eliminate the threat about to grace Tessen. Still, it is a good idea to restrict your travels in the coming months until the danger has been dealt with or to relocate to a city or town if possible to those with the means. Remember: Dead heroes rescue none.

Region Report/s

Tensions between the Noble Houses and the Knights are slowly, glacially almost from the outside and, if one pays attention, improving from their previous state of "murderous glaring while not-so-subtly sharpening blades and oiling war machines." If one does not pay attention, then it appears as if both sides are still staring at each other with the intent to kill and maim, as neither is particularly willing to let the moment of heightened hostility go just yet.

Other than the tension between these two opposing sides, the efforts of the Bone Valley Chapter go far smoother, with Forge-Clan Calor and Cudo meeting with Omar of Iron readily, discussing potential trade and exchanges of knowledge and gifts. While these discussions are light on details so far, the willingness of both Clans to discuss at all is encouraging and a sign of a beneficial relationship with them in the future. Though they appear a bit miffed that the Data-Crystal wasn't sold to them, in a "I know it wasn't a possibility, but it would still have been nice to get a word in" way.

Spy-Network:

The Marquess of Tessen is continuing her pregnancy as expected, and people are religiously reading any news about her, her child, and all rumors surrounding the two.

House Ulatarn has approached House Dall to discuss trade, commerce, air travel, and future opportunities.

House Mirn is constructing the buildings and installing the machines for the botanical exhibition; the expected finish date is in the next two seasons, though confirmation will likely be proclaimed with advertisements in a month.

The Military is nervously waiting for something, as their readiness has not been reduced as a training exercise would have made them do now. Something is coming, something the higher echelons are being worryingly mum about.

The Bureau For Imperial Civilian Logistics is alternating between jumping in joy, dueling each other for budget, and doing barely moral things to the Suspendium samples donated to them.

The Followers of Light are getting a bit annoyed at the rising ire against the Pilgrims. Not enough to do more than allow their priests to work on their initiative, but it is there.

The Adventurer Guild has sent most of the new recruits along to the Military in their core-ward positions, with half again of their numbers made up of seasoned veterans.

Dirty Daggers are continuing with their recruitment, though their knives are slowly coming out once more, pressure against many stores increasing by the day, alongside a dozen other types of commerce and persons of interest.

The Family has set up shop in several locations centering around caravanseries, trade centers, and the budding airship towers/fields, worming their way into the structures via surprisingly legal means. They are not moral means by any stretch of the imagination, but they are legal.

The Common People follow the news surrounding Marquess Tessen's pregnancy religiously; the birth of a new member of the leading family of the ruling House of Tessen is always something to keep a close eye on. The distaste and rumor-mongering surrounding Pilgrim-run orphanages are getting worse by the day, not in the least helped by our titanically increased speed of construction and cutting through the bureaucracy. Some whispers are already being made about unsavory or immoral practices in other Pilgrim-run buildings.

The Mutated follow the news surrounding Marquess Tessen's pregnancy religiously; the birth of a new member of the leading family of the ruling House of Tessen is always something to keep a close eye on. The general brewing of resentment against the Pilgrims is slowly spilling onto the Mutated, their close association with the construction of the Orphanages not being shielded by the influence of the Followers of Light and their actual handling and staffing of prominent organizational roles.

Because our subversion action is tied up at the moment.

Though this should be the last orphanage we need for a while. We should probably turn to building something else, though probably not schools.

Pushback Against New Pilgrim-Run Orphanage - Rags, Rumors, And Rants
I think the title is a mismatch with the article.

Can someone explain to me why we didn't take any actions to head off the unsavory rumors about us?
Because it wasn't a big enough issue to date - the Pilgrims have been dealing with some level of this for a long time. Now it's the point where we start using Diplomacy/Subversion actions to respond.

One question. Is the New Region interlude going to be posted on the 16th, or do you just mean the general next turn update?

Interlude - Another Expansion
The Scale of the Expansion:
[] Satellite

Though the Expansion is laden with materials, only a few have joined the call to venture outside Tessen, most feeling that their work here is still at the stage where they can expand. This has led to a more diminutive scale of ambition; the fervor of those leaving more than makes up for their smaller numbers.

[] Outpost
The Expedition is laden with materials, food, guards, and many that have joined the call to venture outside Tessen, most feeling that their work here is in good hands, capable of being done even while they are away. They are sure that they can create an outpost for the Pilgrimage without stumbling across any danger too great to overcome.

Thoughts on stuff for the next turn:

-[] [Faith] Healing For All! or A Helping Hand
--[] (6FF) = +6

--[] [DoD], [PD], [MSC], [VF], [In the Name of Education], (Scientific Theory +15, Black Box +5, Electronics Manufacture +80, 2[SC] +24, 1[TSC] +18, 2[ENG] +28, 5FF) = +175
--[] (15x Bunker Artifacts +5 to Electronics) = +75
-[] [Learning] Propulsion In The Air Continued - (Pioneer Hydraulic/Machinery/Metallurgy) - (0/1 Successes)
--[] (Scientific Theory +15, Black Box +5) = +20

The opportunity arises now to make a big rush and complete Coilguns this turn. Propulsion in the Air as promised. I suggested the Feed Better project but honestly, any other Learning action is valid as long as we don't use the auto-successes.

-[] [Archeology] Prepare an Expedition - (TBD)
-[] [Archeology] Loot The First Bunker Floor (South-West)
-[] [Archeology] Crystal-Garden Expedition
--[] Send It To the Flying Islands
--[] (Flying Islands +25, 3[ENG] +42) = +67

More of the same, meeting our Crystal quota and keeping going the Bunker lootage and Expeditions.

-[] [Tree of Knowledge] Berth - Medium - (0/7 Turns Complete)
-[] [Tree of Knowledge] Masters' Retreat - Grandiose - (0/7 Turns Complete)

Seeing as we're on the verge of getting our 10 Caravaners, I think we should start expanding our Berth to fit everything. The Masters' Retreat, because improved research success chances are muy bueno.

-[] [Holdings] Small Tool Manufactury - (0/5 Turns Complete)
--[] Hire Contractors x3
-[] [Holdings] Brewers Run - (0/3 Turns Complete)
--[] Hire Contractors x2
-[] [Holdings] Mausoleum of the Forgotten - (0/4 Turns Complete)
--[] Hire Contractors x3

With 3 Holding actions available, it's time to begin filling out the rest of the Cultural District, and providing our Industrial District with more general Prosperity adding goodies before we start adding more of the hitters.

-[] [Aria] Lead By Example (We Are One People!)

It is indeed, extra narratively appropriate now to unleash her to complete our push.

-[] [Merchants] Procure ('Elite Contractors' - Progress to Small Tool Manufactury)

So that the tool factory gets done in one turn.

[Free] (TBD)
Given that we've burst into 100%, we're now getting a free action (of one turn length) to apply. @HeroCooky does that mean it can only apply to actions with 1 Turn to complete, or can we do longer actions if through bonus progress we could complete them in one turn?

-[X] [Diplomacy] We Are One People! - (Locals) - (5/6 Successes)
--[X] (Ashleaf Tea +15, Common People +15, Action Bonus +15, 6FF) = +51
Needed: 120, Rolled: 45 + 51 - 20 [Local Pushback] = 75, Failure! Re-Roll: 34 + 51 + 20 - 20 = 85
Failure!
+15 to the next Attempt!
Well, we wouldn't have made the roll even without the Pushback but it's interesting that it now spills over into general Diplomacy. Given that we get a +15 due to the Common People specialization, those rumors must be very widespread and by now being obviously pushed by someone.

Given how obvious this must be by now, I wonder if the rumors could get exaggerated into absurdity.

--[X] (Rusted Baton +5 to Weapons, Discarded Atlatl +5 to Weapons, 3x Bunker Artifacts +5 to Electronics) = +25
Needed: 150/248/378, Rolled: 95 + 149 = 244
+7 Automatic Successes
+1 Success
Agh, just 4 away from the 2nd Success. Then we could have finished this project during the next Turn. Well, means we can spread things out a bit more, even if it now takes 2 Turns to finish.

-[X] [Aria] Cool Tempers [-30 Goodwill]
--[X] (We Can Do It! +20, Object of Veneration +5, Trauma: Common Person Purge Survivor -5) = +20
Rolled: 93 + 20 = 113
Piety Gained: 111%
That's a lot of Piety. And I hope this advances Aria's Trait.

-[X] [BICL] Donate [1 Medium, 6 Small, and 21 Tiny Shards] of Suspendium
Success!
Reward: Zero-Point Energy Hologram Emitter Holding/Tree of Knowledge Action
??? We apparently got some experimental tech? Hologram makes me think of entertainment or education but the Zero-Point Energy part implies industrial-scale amounts of energy.

Concerning Speed Of Pilgrim Orphanage Construction And Acquiring Of Required Permissions Raises Hackles - The Truthful Observers
Wow, someone really is burning political capital and bridges here. Spreading rumors that the bureaucracy is corrupt is... Well, once Internal Security and others fail to find something, the accused bureaucrats will still be around. And they will be unhappy about the hassle and the insult to their profession.

Bureaucracy on its own can be difficult to navigate but if the bureaucrats are actively hostile to you...

Danger Rears Its Ugly Head Once More - Rags, Rumors, And Rants
Hmm, might have to organize our air fleet for evacuation projects. We do have several Caravaners that could move people around. Maybe a charity/donation Action during the next Turn?

House Ulatarn has approached House Dall to discuss trade, commerce, air travel, and future opportunities.
I wonder if this will end up as a Holding or a Diplomacy Action.

The Bureau For Imperial Civilian Logistics is alternating between jumping in joy, dueling each other for budget, and doing barely moral things to the Suspendium samples donated to them.
Oh no! We gave the Suspendium to deviants! Think of the childrenshards!:V

Can someone explain to me why we didn't take any actions to head off the unsavory rumors about us?
We always had to deal with some rumours and having the Followers of Light involved served as something of a shield due to them being the state religion.

That's important to keep in mind here. Someone accuses a project the local state religion has its eyes on of corruption. That, in a roundabout way, accuses them of incompetence.
By now, the sane reaction would be to scale back on the rumor spreading because anything else means picking a fight with several factions. But this stinks of White Forest shenanigans, so I'm happy to let them hang themself.
