So a group of 6 sentinels gets 12 structure, 36 armor, and 6d4+2 or +12 damage and the omnigazers combined give +52 to the team. Welp let's be thankful we got armor-piercing attacks, PD and we don't have to take all of them at once.

We delay attacking either the tower or the berth until the Nek-ne are dealt with. We cannot afford to take any loses when the ubermensch are coming the turn after the next.

Anyone else eager to find out what the Dawn is? I'm hoping it's friendly. If we're lucky it might be able to help us stop the apocalypse.

We'll have to see how the update goes, I think we still have a turn before they arrive so we still can attack TOP-03 though Berth obviously is a big no.

-[X][Faith] The Pilgrims Need You! - (2/2 Turns Complete)
Needed: 05 Rolled: 30
Success!
Recruits: 48
Not too bad. At least one free action to kick the COE again next turn.

-[X][Faith] Establish A Poor-House - (Jokvi) - (2/2 Turns Complete)
Needed: 15 Rolled: 16
Success!
Permanent Recruitment: 3
Goodwill: 2
COE Damage: 97
That was close. On the other hand, we rolled max on new permanent recruitment and very good on damage to the COE.

-[X][Diplomacy] Infiltrate Part 1 - (Military) - (3/3 Turns Complete)
Needed: 20 Rolled: 86+15 = 101
Success!
And we get a usable Diplo action next turn. We should probably do High-End Introduction - (The Bureau For Imperial Civilian Logistics) soon because we will work with them a lot. That or the Emperor directly.

-[X][Learning] Assemble The Theorists! - (Common Suspendium Theory) - (4/3 Successes)
--[X] PD, SC, 6FF
Needed: 70/100/130 Rolled: 75+33 = 108
+2 Successes!
+2 Automatic Successes!
+1 Common Suspendium Theory!
So we get the common theories, and if the success counter builds on-top of what we already have, we only need 5 more successes to get the advanced theories.

-[X][Learning] Ailments Of The Mind - (Psychology) - (3/6 Successes)
--[X] Self Help Booklet, Treaty On Brainwashing, "The Dreamers Guide," SC, 5FF
Needed: 74/84/94 Rolled: 22+77 = 99
+3 Successes!
That was a terrible dice roll. We finished half of that project anyway, though.

-[X][Tree] Storerooms - Grand - (3/3 Turns Complete)
Success!
Yay, now we can hunker down if worse comes to worst.

-[X][Holding] Build A Wall - (6/8 Turns Complete) - Sandcrete
+2 Turns of progress.
One more turn and we get that finished too. Let's hope for the best.

-[X][Martyris] Too Much To Do - (Scout Out) - TB-03, The Unbroken
Success!
Needed: 25 Rolled: 68+35 = 103
Success!
Four Minor Bright-Lance Turrets
Five Sentinels Units (6/6)
Nine Caretaker-Swarm Units (12/12)
Thirteen Omni-Gazers
That's a lot of hostile metal. Let's see:
Omni-Gazers
Description: A dodecahedron with cameras placed upon each surface, while fragile-looking antennas stick out of every facet, allowing this drone to scan and perceive everything around it. It walks around on delicate legs unfolding from the corners of its shape, which enable the Omni-Gazer to jump up to 6-meters in height and stick to both walls and surfaces.
Health: 1 Unit (Structure 1/1, Armor 0/0)
Damage: 1 (Electric)
Traits: See Everything, Miss Nothing (+4 Damage to 1 Unit per Omni-Gazer, can choose to re-roll an allies damage-dice.)
Well, that's bad. With thirteen Omni-Gazers, that's a lot of damage.

New Defense Knight Chapter-Houses Are Being Built Near Mirn, Kiliath, Gos, And Gor
In a typical show of expertise and professionality, the sites which will contain the future Chapter-Houses have already been cleared by our courageous and skilled troops, allowing laborers, caravans, and architects to travel relatively unmolested. The routes for building-materials, fuel-lines, and nearby villages to supply food and services are already being reinforced. The roads already paved, with the fortified outposts having been completed in actual record-times! Criers also announced the Chapter's final title and symbols this season, allowing many crafty merchants and artisans to produce and sell merchandise and toys of the Chapters. Soon, the Chapters of the Umbra Skulls, Bronze Machine, Revenant Kin, and Dawn Bringers, with the symbol of a Black skull on white, a bronze cog on orange, two green scythes crossed on red, and yellow dawn on blue paint, respectively. Well, let us celebrate their creation and hope that their banners will drag on the floor from the deeds accumulated in their line of duty!
Those names remind me of 40k for some reason.

Rumbling Within Noble Halls
After a Church of Eden priestess publicly attacked a Pilgrim, nobles within Tessen exclaimed their shock and outrage at such behavior from those who proclaim to wish only the best for the souls and people of the Empire. Already, Guards have started patrolling heavily near their temples and sanctuaries as more cities begin discussing more severe measures to protect their citizens against future acts of aggression from the COE. While the Church themself had been quick to denounce the priestess for her attack, the damage had already been done, leaving them to pick up the pieces and try to reign in their more conservative members who were heard speaking in support of the act.
Wow, the COE suffered already nearly 100 damage from the new Poor-Houses but apparently, they still wanted to shot themselves in the foot.

Army To Train Near Jokvi For New Colony Wave
Nearing the end of the current wave of colonization, with many sectors on the outskirts of the region changing their classification from red zones to yellow, the IBM has decided to send several regiments near Jokvi to train in preparation for a new initiative to civilize black sectors and select patches of the Waste into red zones. Already, offices and recruiters for pioneers for those early settlements that will follow in their wake have experienced an uptick in those seeking new and better lives outside the cities.
Sounds like an inconspicuous way to train a big number of meatshields for the invasion of the Nek-Ne Tribe.

The Military is quietly preparing for the invasion of the Nek-Ne Tribe. Already, multiple Knight-Chapters are being summoned to intervene in the coming conflict.
That's going to be interesting. I'm not sure if Knights are used to fighting human-sized targets in hand-to-hand combat. Especially given that the tribals can apparently tear them apart.

COE Sanity Roll: 2
The Church Of Eden is very much trying not to strangle every Pilgrim they see. One priestess couldn't resist when faced with a Mutated member, leading to some fascinating consequences, even if the Church hurriedly denounced the act to save face in the eyes of the law. Some of their hardcore members were not happy about that. (-78 Influence)
Yeah, the dice gods really hate the COE.

The Criminal Organizations are not making any move right now; being under the control of InSec will do that.
Huh, I didn't expect InSec to directly take over. Does this mean any form of co-operation with InSec would now trigger A Victims Ire: Holy Rose - Criminal Organizations?

The Common People are happy. Nothing of consequence has happened to impact their lives much, though the attempted murder is currently a favorite discussion topic.

The Mutated are not a little scared about the attempted public murder, seeing it as an indication that a Purge could happen. Weapon-sellers are quite happy about that, making a tidy profit from their paranoia.
Not much to say here. The Mutated will be glad to have bought extra weapons, once the invasion starts.

When I said later, I meant now! Enjoy. Also should I add a timestamp? This story takes around a couple of weeks before the start of turn 38.
Canon! I love how you made the characters! And timestamps are only needed if you feel that they should be present.
I have never played Fallen London, are the games any good?
YES! Sunless Skies is the best one in my opinion, as it basically improved upon the everything from Sunless Seas, which was a very solid game in it own right!

No, as Martyris does not know that.

Aww thanks . If you ever want to use Wiljem for anything, I was planning on having him join the wall after this roadtrip.
Perfect. Is it okay when I ask for some details once I make the turn in regards of his character and history? I like to have assigned sergeants in the Units so I can write around them when their Units are doing stuff.

Tenet or no tenet, we are getting close to our population cap of 900. Though now that we have Norqod they could just live there and commute.

@HeroCooky could our members live in the village if we ever run out of space at the Tree?

Yes, though it will still carry a (reduced) malus if it comes to that.

i assume the malus comes from having a city being esentially being a puppet enclave of the pilgrims, and not because the pilgrims are living far away of the tree

because the idea of religions is that people will practice them across different locations, there is only so much we can expand the tree or have pilgrim controlled areas before we would need to turn into a nation of our own

so the ability to have practicioners in non-pilgrim controlled locations without having maluses seems pretty basic of a religion

[Canon] - The Pilgrims, An Opportunity And Threat
@HeroCooky I'm gonna go with this. It's important to know where we stand with people.

[X] The Pilgrims, an opportunity and threath.
With the Empire being, relative to its neighbors and rival, open and friendly to new beliefs, many new religions, cults, and sects have sprung up, flourished, and vanished over the centuries. Books and theories have been written over their rise and downfall, entire libraries of InSec are dedicated to cataloging their symbols and dogma, and many theologists intently try to decipher which religion was right and wrong.

Whatever their findings are, and whatever belief one might discuss, There are always similarities among those that have endured over time. Chief among those is the idea that humanity, at its very core, is evil. That it needs a higher being, a moral code ordained by divinity to function or fall into barbarism and mutation. And established way of thinking and teaching, not questioned deeply over the ages as the results of humanity's greed and hate mar the lands of every nation and every people.

Enter the Pilgrims, teaching the exact opposite. For them, hatred is given by another, and prejudice is learned from one's environment, while every day, people perform good deeds without thinking, not ever expecting recompense for them.

Many had scoffed at that, thinking the Pilgrims would be another group of idealists that would break apart at the first sign of trouble and hardships. Yet... the opposite occurred.

Their founder risked life and limb to allow the military to kill a Plague-Engine; their preachers and scouts tended to the injuries and illness plaguing the people unprompted. When finding a festering wound inside Mirn, they reported it, easing the resulting tensions with ease. And when presented with the opportunity to kick down their biggest rival in the region, the Church Of Eden, after a scandal, they helped them. They always chose what was right and have turned out stronger for it.

A narrative those in the know are all too happy to let continue. They know that the Pilgrims have systematically dismantled and undermined the power structure of the COE, hacking apart their followers and carving out their slice of Tessen in the process. They know that the Pilgrims hold secrets and loyalties which could kill Forge-Clans, and many suspect that the Emperor's approval is the result of shrewd politicking and not an accident as the Pilgrims portray.

The public sees a benevolent belief, as the elite sees an insidious symbiont, willing to give all it has and more than ready to take all they have, should lines be overstepped.
