Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

Because the weapon is kind of attached on her arm? She only needs one finger... actually, do we even shoot by pulling a trigger? Or does Nepgear just... uh... send an impulse to shoot, or something like that?

Because if not, the trigger is definitely right next to her hand. In other words, in a place she can reach at all times.
That would only really work if the grapple is in the form of locking blades when using the sword aspects of her weapon. I would think she would need to drop her weapon in order to do hand to hand combat.

The Purifier Beam/Panzer Blade is not physically connected to Nepgear.

And it's large enough that swinging it at someone trying to physically grab her is a bit awkward.

You're telling me that the UD had black-out'd literally ALL OF HOPE to that no news of Gabriel's continued existence could spread out,
How does blocking off Hope have anything to do with Gabriel being alive in a completely separate dimension?

That they completely and utterly sealed any possible ways out of that dimension, AND removed anyone capable of opening a way out - so that Gabriel could not escape.
They, didn't do that. Gabriel did that so they couldn't go through the damn gate to somewhere more important.

That they completely and utterly sealed any possible ways into that dimension, so as to ensure no stealthy recon parties could go in, find out about Gabriel and get the news back.
They didn't need to because no one goes there because it's full of demons and going there would kill you.

Last time anyone had news of Gabriel, IIRC, is when one of our teammates, the last man out of the portal to Hope, saw her throwing him through that portal.

How did she get to a completely separate dimension, that she also locked out?

...that was not Hope. It was Reluxes. Or however you spell it.

Edit: found it

"Joined because I was a glory hound." Michael is swirling what's left of his drink around in it's bottle. "Wanted to join up, kill some demons. Come back hailed as a hero. I was there at Reluxus and Gabriel's Last Stand. A single battalion of angels facing down a horde of demons dense enough to hide the ground beneath their feet. A literal ocean of hellfire and brimstone charging the Gate. I was the last one through actually: I got to watch as a paltry hundred angels stood alone against damn near the entire Fifth Legion. Instead of accepting the discharge after that battle I fought tooth and nail to stay in the Counter Force. Been on mostly shit duties but... It frees up actual soldiers to fight instead of wanna-be washouts like me."

As I've said a couple times, now, that wasn't Hope, that was Reluxus.

I never really got around to posting this, but since it was brought up in Crys's latest infopost, here's a prettied up version of the map of the local dimensional cluster.

Here's the original, labelled with the currently known names of the local dimensions.

Edit:
Wouldn't a 3D model be more appropriate? Or are dimensions related to each other in a 2D manner rather than a 3D manner (celestial bodies within a single universe are a 3D relationship)?

Neat.

What did you use to build it?
I drew the tiles individually, and then arranged them into the proper pattern. I pretty much just used the program Paint.

You were part of this discussion, you basically said to squish it down to a 2D plane yourself.
Excerpt of Discord discussion. It said:

They don't look right to me. Maybe I'll just retry them.
I wonder how the war started between the Fairy Home Realms and Dark Star in the first place. Their territories aren't even near each other.

LostDeviljho-10/11/2017
space is 3D, the map isn't

Familiar-10/11/2017
So this isn't even close to an adequate representation, then.
I'm not sure even a 3D map would work that well either, really, with the cross-dimensional nature of the setting.

LostDevilhjo-10/11/2017
yeah well we can't even put together a 3D, you want one in 4?

Familiar - 10/11/2017
I will find a way to represent a 4D battlefield on a 2D medium.
Be ready for your eyes to bleed.

Mellithae - 10/11/2017
I look forward to it(edited)

kelllogo - 10/11/2017
I once contemplated putting something together in blender before deciding that would be terribad.

I will find a way to represent a 4D battlefield on a 2D medium.
Make a spherical representation, then realize that the vast majority of that sphere is empty space, and take advantage of that empty space by squishing the sphere down into a circle. Then take advantage of the fact that major changes in battle lines are a rare event to allow you to just do a few cross sections of the time axis.

Forgot about that discussion.

The flat version is indeed better at making the actual battle lines easy to see. One thing it can't show though is how 'far' each dimension is from each other.

The flat version can't tell you things like that (for sake of example) even if the 'distance' between False Heaven and Earth is equal to the 'distance' between Earth and the High Realm, the 'distance' between False Heaven and the High Realm is not necessarily twice the distance between one of them and Earth.

Niiiice map.

Where is Hope in all of that? And Reluxus with Millidia for that matter?
I mean, I can count 13 Volcano tiles, which is rather symbolic considering we know there's an existence of so-called "Thirteenth Hell"... Or is it just the star-marked volcano?

The two right up against the Earth Marker were Hope and Reluxus before Hell claimed them. Hope is the one to the left, Reluxus on the right.

  • [X] Plan Grab Her Mark 3
-[X] Activate Core Purge, make sure that it's targeting Juggernaut Drive's Control Seal instead of her, and keep it active until she's down
-[X] Try to get Juggernaut Drive within Core Purge range, while avoiding that spear. If Sega's in danger though, try to take the hit for her
-[X] Ask Sega how Juggernaut's spell works.
--[X] If Juggernaut throws her spear, avoid intercepting Juggernaut's attacks
--[X] If Juggernaut has to get in close and stab, consider deliberately getting Juggernaut to cast her spell at you so as to bring her in Core Purge range
-[X] Yell to Sega that if she can do it safely, she should grab Juggernaut and hold her still
-[X] If possible, block Juggernaut's attacks with the skills you've learned.
    [X] [EXP] Plan Faster
-[X] Upgrade Flight to level 27 (510 XP)
    [X] Plan KISS
-[X] Activate Core Purge, targeting the Seal Juggernaut Drive has.
-[X] Engage in defensive maneuvers otherwise.
    [X] [EXP] Plan Upgrade
-[X] Upgrade Flight to level 30 (1350 XP)

    [X] Plan Tail Gunner
-[X] Shout out that you won't let her kill you or your sister, even if you have to kill her to make her stop.
-[X] Try to keep up with Solid Drive, if Juggernaut Drive gets close cast a very telegraphed Celestial Severance to make her back off (if she flies into it and dies that sucks, but saving Sega is more important right now). Try to circle a bit to avoid getting too far away from Goddess Gold.
--[X] If Juggernaut backs away for long enough active Core Purge targeting Red's seals.
---[X] Cast Starshine into the sky to try and force Juggernaut closer to the ground so you can try to get close enough to hit the seal with Core Purge.
--[X] If Juggernaut stays too close for Core Purge but far enough to dodge your lazy sword plane spells keep flying until Rei looks less busy on the ground, then fly towards the ground in hopes that Gold will chain everyone up and solve the issue.
    [x] Plan Run Away!
-[x] You don't need to take her down yourself—if you can stall until Goddess Gold is done with White Soul, you win.
-[x] Run and dodge, and counterattack only as a means of slowing her down.
--[x] Get away from Goddess Gold, so that nobody gets killed by a stray attack.
--[x] Look for obstacles on the ground—going through them will slow you down, but it will also slow down Juggernaut and prevent her from charging you directly. A forest would be ideal—she needs to be able to see you to hit you, and while you're tough enough that crashing into a tree at full speed won't hurt, she isn't.
--[x] Continue dodging. Random directions at random, closely spaced times. If you don't find good obstacles, stay high and take advantage of the extra room that three-dimensional movement provides.
--[x] Don't go too far; you still need to get back to Rei after she's done with her fight.
--[x] If the situation calls for it, Starshine can make an excellent area-denial tool, even if you can't aim it directly at Juggernaut.
-[x] If you get desperate, try Core Purge.

Something that just occurred to me as a good reason to do some False Ability training when we get back to base.

The infodump and the questions afterwards told us the following things:
  1. Intercept (False) is one of the most common and easiest to get False Abilities.
  2. The idea of making the 44 individual hits of Starshine each take completely different, curved paths to the target is a valid way to achieve Punch-Through (False).
  3. Epic and Divinity MGs usually wind up getting the True versions of abilities when they try to get False versions.
Now think about this in the context of Nepgear's problems with massive AOE on her weapon and her ability to spam Intercepts using Supremacy Zone.

If we train Starshine to get Intercept (False) or Punch-Through (False), then it will become the True version of those, and we should be able to perform Supremacy Zone's Intercepts using Starshine instead of the Purifier Beam. This does FAR more Total Damage (154k instead of 13k), but it removes Apocalypse from the equation. Furthermore, if we learn to control Starshine in that way, in the process we'd probably also learn how to reduce the total number of bolts of energy it releases (or make some of the bolts go off in harmless directions), reducing the damage-induced AOE too.

who wants to bet we'll activate the progenitor frame with juggernaut drives drive ignition and our core purge, just as goddess red opens the portal.
and then we can watch everyone shit their pants. :drevil:
