Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

On who to send back, I'm thinking Samael, Michael, Gabriel, Lucky and Brilliant Key. Samael and Michael are tired, Brilliant Key is rattled, Gabriel is exhausted and Lucky is having a panic attack. None of them are in a safe condition to keep fighting.
Sounds good to me. Lucky and Brilliant Key can zap stuff pretty good.

Unless the Frost Dragon armor can fly while carrying someone?

[X] Ask Brilliant Key to accompy Samael, Michael, Gabriel, and Lucky Star as they bring the Radiances to the barricade. Once there they can make a decision about where they'd be best placed.

[X]Save it~

Nepgear needs training actions before she starts developing new powers. Unless the new powers are completely novel, those would be fine.

@Lost: Would you mind terribly if I borrowed Silver Chevalier for something? I want to start with something light-hearted and everyone else is too darn grim at the moment. Also, does Chevalier have a way to deal with annoying flying enemies (like, say... Summit :V)?

Honestly, I'm still of the belief that pumping up Flight and High-Speed Combat is more effective than pumping up Indestructible Core.

Its mainly sneak attacks that are a threat to us right now, and higher reaction speed makes sneak attacks much more difficult to pull off.
+1 reasons to not level HSC.
Playing characters with no weaknesses grows boring rapidly.

Nah, go ahead.
Technically she can throw her sword, but she usually just has her teammates shoot them down.

Thanks!

I actually have her saying that she'd have a team-mate that could shoot her down, followed by complaining that Summit spamming Ramming Speed spell again wouldn't give either of them a chance to improve. No actual fighting on screen... sort of.

+1 reasons to not level HSC.
Playing characters with no weaknesses grows boring rapidly.
The real reason not to level HSC is that it's blooming hard. Assuming we keep to the current trend of needing Flight to be 10mph faster then HSC to level it up then:
HSC Level 4 = Flight Level 29 = 200+210+220+230+240+250+260+270+280 = 2,160xp
HSC Level 5 = Flight Level 37 = 290+300+310+320+330+340+350+360 = 2,600xp
HSC Level 6 = Flight Level 55 = 370+380+390+400+410+420+430+440+450+460+470+480+490+500+510+520+530+540 = 8,190xp
That is a lot of XP. Besides the real problem is that with Flight (Boosted) at those sort of levels Nepgear becomes too fast to hit. 280mph is ~125m/s and Nepgear has instant acceleration/deceleration. She also becomes a deadly projectile since 52kg crashing into you at 125m/s is going to hurt.

That doesn't remove any weaknesses. It just makes the weaknesses much more difficult to exploit.
Making them more difficult to exploit is essentially removing them against 99% of opponents at this point. Nepgear only has a couple weaknesses as it is, and enemies that can go through layers of her defenses to exploit different weakpoints generate SaltTM when they show up.

I'm actually fond of the way Nepgear tends to meet problems by having them hit her in the face. With the save-from-death feature of INDESTRUCTIBLE CORE it gives the thread a view of what nasty thing could happen to us, and impetus to try and make it not happen again. (Which is why I got so distraught after seeing that doom snek could inflict auto-kill via poison. Solid Core is supposed to bounce off the ground and think 'ow' after the first hit, starting off with hyper-deadly is dirty pool.)

Solid Core dodging everything via HSC would be much less fun for me. I much prefer taking a huge damage to the face and taking no damage.

I'm going to make a few arguments for raising IC's level.

First off, the health. Admittedly, what with the individual we're assuming to be Grey Champion having Negative Space, or Zone, or whatever that ability's name is, Segarite Core is most likely going to be the biggest threat to us. Thankfully we have word of God that the spell that's on is a melee spell, so hopefully we'll be able to stay out of arm's reach.

My point is, more health is often useful for us, especially with Core Purge. The higher our base health, the more our health increases from Segarite Core, and the higher our no-sell threshold becomes.

Second, we're going to be facing Grey Champion and White Soul, two extremely powerful Magical Girls who are more bullshit than Solar and Lunar. I really think that improving our defenses is wise here, especially since we know White Soul killed the the Radiances in addition to Silver Hero and Grey Champion. Unfortunately, the only ways that we can improve our defenses at the moment would be upgrading IC.

Third, something to remember for the future is that our health starts out the the base value at the beginning of every fight. While Segarite Core does increase our health rather quickly, higher levels of IC mean a higher base health, and therefore more health gained in the same amount of time.

This is part of why I'm asking if the increased trust that Red Rose has now means that she'd be OK with us asking, for the sake of this mission, about the ins and outs of the abilities of the remaining members of the Old Guard.

Now that we've proven that we really can pull this off, and that hope is a completely valid feeling right now, wouldn't she want to provide any intel she can that would promote the success of the mission?

Nepgear might be an otaku who knows all the public info there is to know about the Old Guard, but I'm sure that Red Rose knows much more.

Wait, why are we assuming that? I don't remember.
I...actually don't know if anyone else is assuming that, I just know that I'm assuming that Grey Champion's the one with Negative Space. As for why, mainly because I thought that White Soul was overpowered enough, and that given what we know of her particular theme, I didn't see a good reason for her to have a spell that completely negated and inverted healing effects.

...White Soul was the former #1, and from what I know, I think she would still have a spot in the Top 10.

And what do you think her theme is? <= is curious

We know that her basic power is unlimited bilocation, she can generate more bodies and unmake them at will, probably creates bodies via a spell and unmakes bodies via an ability.

So I'm personally thinking that her main theme is teamwork, achieved via having everyone who's working with her being a copy of herself. I'm guessing that she has abilities that key off how many bodies she has active, kind of like how Carnage has abilities that key off of how many stacks of Juggernaut Boost she has, only with White Soul's abilities being much more bullshit, and with WS having more abilities.

Bilocation. Not multilocation.

Oh...right. Well then, the best theme I can think she might have word have to be being incredibly hard to kill, kind of like us, except achieved via different methods.
That sounds correct.

Didn't we get Word of God that she had a fight with Goddess Gold that looked like a stalemate, and which Gold thought was a stalemate, but actually pushed White Soul to the limits of her survivability?

Nepgear Confronts Amanda about the rest of the Old Guard
It's more of a stray thought that comes to you, than something you think long and hard about. But regardless, it makes a lot of sense.

The merely mortal members of Team GEAR are resting up as you think over what you'd do with the newly freed Magical Girls. But with so many of them as tired as they are, and with how little you remembered of the Girls you'd soon have to fight, you need more information. And who better to ask, then the very girl that had known them best when they were alive?

"Red Rose?" The Veteran looks up from where Solar and Lunar are resting away, and turns to you.

"Yes, Solid?"

"Well... with how this fight went... I don't actually remember everything about the Old Guard off the top of my head that I used to. The last few weeks kind of pushed everything out, you know?"

She cracks a smile, "Reasonable. So you want to know more? So you can jog your memory?" You nod. "Alright, to begin with, what all do you remember? I'll fill in holes as you go."

"Well, I know you and Grey Champion were close..." They were actually sisters if you remember correctly, but bringing that up probably wasn't a good idea. "She was the one that did the whole celebrity scene. Publicly going to concerts, doing talk shows, all of that. Her power was based around Music, right?"

"Yeah. Michele was obsessed with the fame. Knew how to leverage it like no one else. The Hunter Foundation for Orphans? The Korean Relief Movement? Both of those and more were started because she wanted to use her fame to help people. She did more to help others than I ever did, was more of a hero. Me? I was only good at killing things..."

"So, how exactly does she fight?"

"She's a heavily ranged combatant. If you keep the range open for too long, she'll be able to overwhelm you. If you can get in close though, she crumbles easily. But her biggest danger is her ability to strengthen allies. When we get to her, we'll more than likely have to fight several demons she's making stronger as well as Grey. The more damage she causes, the harder it'll be to put her down... but we'll be able to bypass that with the seal... The real problem is that she knows how to use spells without having to call their names. So she tends to have a song blasting out that she sings to in order to cover her attacks."

Yeah... you know how that could be a problem. Doing such, would allow Grey Champion to hide the exact moment she launches an attack, meaning you'd have to move faster than the attack to dodge it, or already be in cover. Neither of which would be a guarantee at the levels of power she'd likely be throwing about.

"And White Soul?" You almost grimace at bringing her up, but Red Rose doesn't flinch like you were almost expecting her to. Instead, she simply sighs heavily before looking you straight in the eye.

"She has bi-location, with the ability to delete one of her instances fast enough to dodge things she really shouldn't be able to dodge. You could get the drop on her and fire your laser from point-blank range and she'd still be able to 'dodge' it by deleting the copy you're aiming at. The only guaranteed way to kill her, is to either throw an attack that she can only dodge by deleting the targeted clone at both of her, or by firing an attack that hits at conceptual speeds like my Sudden Death. The biggest danger though is her Soul Rend. It hits for a pretty low amount of damage... but if she does hit you with it, it'll turn whatever regeneration abilities that are active poisonous. You'll literally rot from the inside out. And that's not a nice way to go... Grey could tell you from personal experience."

... Well. That was only a little bit comforting, but not as much as you'd hope.

We need to use XP. Now. Because White Soul's abilities will lock down our attacks and abilities since most are less level than it. Core Purge should operate since its not dependent on levels.
