Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

Solid_Core (Moderator) (Little Miss Shrug It Off) (She Who Cheats)
Aww, I was hoping for something like:

ManaBlaster (Solid Core) (Moderator) (Master Magic) (Go-To-For: Old Guard) (Little Miss Shrug It Off) (She Who Cheats)

Mainly because I find the image of her taking a picture holding a sign saying "ManaBlaster" while in her MG form, and then using it as her profile pic, then watching people go nuts amusing.

Hence my comments on why I'd hoped she didn't reveal personal details.

Echo of Peace procs before Resilience, but after Damage is calculated. @crystalwatcher needs to be reminded of that as well.
Eh. There is no functional difference between this:
Article:
173,117 Unified Damage

Echo of Peace: 60,591

Michael: 2,000 Base Resilience, No Dice, -1,500 Juggernaut, -1,000 No Room to Dodge, -2,000 Into the Jaws of Death = 2,500 Extra Damage

63,091 Total End Damage

This time? No.

Other times? Possibly.

Also @crystalwatcher ) just noticed a math error. You didn't add things up correctly:
Genocide Rain x3 (33,300 + 33,300 + 33,300 = 99,900) + Mana Blast (37,130) + Mana Blast (36,987) = 174,017

So it should actually be:

I can't think of a situation where it would matter. About the only one I can see it mattering is if there is another pre-resistance effect.

Despite being hilarious, that would probably spill her civilian identity. Also, I highly doubt that putting that many tags after a username is allowed :V

Well, there's the minor fact that she doesn't HAVE a civilian life. Everyone she ever knew/met from her home town is dead, and the town itself was obviously wiped off the face of the earth.

Did you not read the "Hence my comments on why I'd hoped she didn't reveal personal details" part?

Meh. :p
(Master Magic) + (Go-To-For: Old Guard) is probably a pretty rare combination. Being a (Moderator) account tied to a new magical girl makes it pretty obvious that its the user who had that combination of tags and recently disappeared from the site unexpectedly, especially if it was known that that user was en-route to becoming a moderator anyways.

An ability that affects End Damage Reduction wouldn't effect Echo of Peace.

*goes crosseyes* What? I think you need to re-read what I posted.

I just realized what the general reaction/understanding TOHO would have for the Emissary of [Peace].

Most MG teams have a decently high level combo gimmick. Usually some form of AoE blast attack.

The Divines FORM VOLTRON.

Is Bind a lesser form of Total Lockdown?
Is this exactly what it says on the tin?
Shouldn't that be Legendslayer?
What do these two do?

Is Bind a lesser form of Total Lockdown?
Yes. It's just a basic tie-them-up spell. (His wife is going to enjoy that...)

Is this exactly what it says on the tin?
Yes.

What do these two do?
The first was already answered.

The second effects abilities with difficulty checks such as Goddess Gold's Ability Negation or Brilliant Key's auto dodge.

UNDEAD DRIVE
"You guys are coming with. But I want you guys to grab some extra flash-bangs from the guards." They all nod, though you know Aquila and Lucky have no idea how to use the flash-bangs. "Sam, before we go in, I want you to buff everyone you can. Including the guards." You quickly look around you as Team GEAR scatters to walk with the other soldiers to collect extra flash-bangs. Once they're clear though, you quickly scurry over to the other Girls. "Umm... you guys mind if I make a request?"

The four of them collectively turn their attention to you in an almost eerie fashion. You talk a bit, but Rei's raised brow drags your request out. "Umm... My teammate, Samael, is a practitioner. His magic allows him to draw new spells from Magical Girls he comes into contact with through the use of his first spell. I was wondering if you guys would be willing to allow him to draw from you?" You trail off towards the end, and your smile fades into a grimace as Red Rose's look turns skeptical.

"I wouldn't mind letting him." Brilliant Key's voice is soft and unassuming, and her comment sends a jolt of relief through you.

"Thanks a lot! Hey, Sam!" The soldier in question pauses in stuffing his rigging with flash bangs at your shout. "Would you come here for a moment? Brilliant Key said it's OK for you to use Libras on her."

"Wait, isn't that the same spell he used on me?" Sega cuts in on the conversation, which was a slight surprise considering how quiet she's been. A spark of interest enters Rei's eyes.

"Oh? You let him cast a spell on you?"

"Umm, no. He used it during my fight with Team GEAR. Immediately used another spell afterwards though."

"It was the spell I got from you." Sam was now wearing an extra bandolier of flash-bangs across his chest, though it looks a little funny when mixed with the armor. "My spell, Libras, allows me to draw magic from a Magical Girl to form a brand new spell based on that Magical Girl. I figured it out with Nepgear's help not that long ago. I've been using it as much as I can ever since, despite the fact its not all that strong. I got Drive Boost from her the one time I cast it, and was able to hit Sixth Heaven with it twice. I'll be using the spell I got from her, Demon King, on everyone. It strengthens your attack power."

Now he had the undivided attention of the five Magical Girls. Insight was staring intently at him, while Rei was looking thoughtful. "How many times can you use it on someone?" Brilliant Key's curiosity was evident with her tone.

"Once for each Affinity the Girl in question possesses. I already got three from Nepgear here, as well as one from Carnage. We got a little carried away when we figured out my magic. I've used it once on Sega, once on Maiden of the West, and twice on Sixth as I said."

"Use it on me first! I wanna know what you get!"

"Same here! Suck me dry!"

"I need to see this."

"Alright, alright, calm down, one at a time!"

-/LINE BREAK IDENTIFIED\-

In the end Sam got himself fourteen new spells, the collection of which had him following along behind you in a slightly distracted daze as he sorted through them to figure out what all they did. Your own suggestion to Rei about any Dark Magical Girls showing up and the possibility of focusing the deleterious effect of her presence onto only the brain-washing seals also went over pretty well. Even if it doesn't work out, it would be worth the try; something that Rei told you she was planning on passing on to Command.

From there, the Assault Team (You, Team GEAR, Brilliant Key, Red Rose, and Insight), enter through the briefly opened barricade into the Necropolis. Once you're inside, the guards outside quickly seal the opening shut, blocking out most of the light. The sudden silence as all sound from the outside is mostly cut off is rather chilling... and the soft whistle from the wind that travels through the cracks in the wall doesn't help much.

"Alright..." You shake your head slightly to clear your head. "Since I'm the most durable one here, I think that I should be the one to take point... is that alright with you Red Rose?" For a moment, you're not sure if the older Magical Girl even heard you. Her eyes are glazed in deep thought as she stares past you, towards something you can't see.

"Yeah... that's fine..." Smiling, you turn to head down the small hallway deeper into the Necropolis. "But before that..." You pause again, just in time for Red Rose's hand to land on your shoulder and turn you around.

"Huh? GAHK-" Red Rose's hand lances straight into your neck, the force momentarily robbing you of both your balance and ability to breathe as the veteran Girl physically lifts you up off the ground and slams you into the wall beside her. The motion is so fast and so sudden that no one has a chance to stop it, even though literally everyone draws their own weapons in the following instant.

Brilliant Key leaps aside, staring with wide-eyed astonishment at the events. Sega's Dragon Slayer is pressed up against the back of Red Rose's neck, while Insight's handgun is in turn pressed up against Sega's ear. Gabriel's blade is resting against Insight's neck, as Samael, Michael, and James all have their Soul-Severers drawn and pointed to the back of Red Rose's head. Lucky is glowing brightly from a prepared spell, and Aquila's arrow shines with a deep reddish-orange light. You yourself are grasping Red's hand as she holds up the index finger of her other right in front of your eye.

"I don't give a flying fuck, about how important you are to the war effort. I don't give a flying fuck, about how important you are to Goddess Gold. I especially don't give a fuck, how powerful you've gotten in the last few weeks since we met." Her voice is strangely level given the situation, but the emphasis on each time she swears makes you flinch as her finger swings just a little closer to your eye. "If you were lying to us, about being able to save the Girls under Goddess Red's mind control, then Goddess Gold's anger will be the least of your concerns. Because I will kill you myself. Understood?"

You nod frantically. The others in the tunnel might not be aware, but you knew how easily she could back up that promise. Red Rose had built her reputation on killing Dark Magical Girls, no matter how many or how powerful they were. You had no delusion of your own chances if she decided that you needed to die. "Good. Now, you'll be on point as you suggested." She drops you, and straightens her back. "Brilliant Key, Solid Core, and Solid Drive, will be the ones to actually engage any Assault Knights we come across since they're the only ones here with Magic that's capable of actually putting the damn things down for good. If they start getting swamped, then the rest of us will engage ourselves as needed. We're going to be moving slowly as we can through here, but we have to remember we're on a time limit. Does anyone have any questions?" She walks a few feet past you, deeper into the "tunnel".

Team GEAR have lowered their weapons, though none of them put them away. Gabriel carefully squeezes past Sega and Insight, the former of who is glaring daggers at the latter, who was smirking smugly at her. You wave your Angelic teammate off before she tries to ask you how you're doing. You'd rather not try explaining that you didn't feel the need to breathe for some reason.

Aquila frowns, "I got one. What in the name of Magmos was that about?" Now that it was brought up, you knew the answer. It had faded from public knowledge in the time since their decimation, but those that cared could find it easily.

The Old Guard-

"We were friends." There's no inflection in Red Rose's voice, but it cuts through the tension like a light saber. "The Girls in this tomb were the closest friends I've ever had. Each of us were legends in our own right, but we were as close as the Goddess Four. But our sundering went unnoticed. Unremarked. We passed quietly into the night. But I don't mind that." She spins her spear, and drives the tip into the stone beneath her feat with a bang. "But the chance to get them back? To once more have them beside me? If Solid Core told me to murder Goddess Gold herself in order to make that true, then I'd happily do so." Her face is impassive, but her eyes are like diamond. "So if you're lying. If you're giving me a false hope... then I'll kill you myself for spitting on their memory."

"I understand." With two words you take the wind out of Team GEAR and Sega's sails. "If I had a chance to bring back those I cared for myself... then I'd feel the same. So lets go... your friends are waiting for you. Even if they don't know it yet." You ignore the incredulous stares as you walk past Red Rose, taking point like you had suggested. Red Rose follows immediately after you as if nothing had happened, though the rest of the group does hesitate before following you as well.

Well... this mission was off to a fabulous start!

"Ak-akakakakakakakakak-" *BOOM*

You've rapidly gained a feeling of uselessness in the last few minutes. As well as the solid belief that Brilliant Key really had no need for any kind of help. That was the third group of skeletal horrors that you've come across in the slow crawl through the Necropolis so far, and the third group that Brilliant Key vaporized with her spell. Despite all logic saying that the tombs should have collapsed atop all of you by now, the girl had so far shaped the resultant blasts from the spell so they would flood down the different paths between the tombs instead of just blasting the structures themselves.

It was just inspiring to watch, actually.

"Alright... according to the map, the next side path leads out into the main courtyard of the Necropolis' northern zone. It's the most open part of this area so if there's a Magical Girl, she'll likely be there." Basilicom's voice is just loud enough from James' radio that

"It also means there's less of a chance of Collateral Damage bringing this whole place down atop us. Nep, I want you to clear the opening with your beam, then we'll all rush through. Our advance up to this point wasn't exactly quiet, so they probably know we're here already. So once we're through rush any Magical Girl that's on the other side. Hopefully the blast from Solid Core's purifier beam will disorient them enough for us to close before any ranged options come into play."

Red's plan makes sense, so as soon as the Assault Team gave the affirmative you speed up slightly to the corner of the path where the opening is. Then, in a single motion you spin around the corner, aiming the Purifier Beam down it, and pull the trigger. Just in time to hear the words of the trap:

"Mana Blast!"

"Oh shit-"

(Purifier Beam: 5,743 Base Damage, +342 Dice, Juggernaut Negated, +500 Divine Power = 6,585 Total Damage

Mana Blast: 20,000 Base Damage, -17,012 Mana Cheat Hero Smited, +20,000 Can't Stop The Magic, Juggernaut Negated = 22,988 Total Damage

Solid Core: 1,700 Base Resilience, +167 Dice, -1,275 Juggernaut = 592 Damage Reduction

4,204 Total End Damage

INDESTRUCTIBLE CORE, son)

There is no pain, just surprise. The Purifier Beam's laser is swallowed whole by the roaring column of pure magical energy that comes blasting down the courtyard exit and is swept aside like it's nothing. Then it hits you and everything dissolved into a kaleidoscope of color. Everything turns green, pink, yellow, red, with a smidgen of blue and orange somewhere in the chaotic mess. And as the residual energy from the direct hit fades, you're revealed to be standing where you had been, not even having moved a millimeter, with a slightly bemused expression on your face as small streamers of smoke waft off your body.

Nothing happens for several seconds as both the Assault Team and the Magical Girl on the far end of the exit tunnel simply stare at you.

"That's just not fair." No. No it's not.

James calmly walks up to you, and places an arm around your shoulders before gently guiding you back to the group. "Give us a moment." The still-mostly-stunned Magical Girl simply nods as James leads you back to the assault team.

"So... is stuff like that normal?" Aquila's astonished voice cuts through the surprised daze that clouds your mind. "Because I'm feeling a bit superfluous right now." The poor elf drops her face into her palm as Lucky giggles behind her and Samael chokes down a laugh.

"Well... since Nepgear here can face-tank her way down your little choke point, you feel up to surrendering?" Michael calls down the tunnel to the girl on the other end.

"No... not really. I'm pretty sure I can get most of you before she kills me... but would you guys be willing to go away? I really don't want to die again."

"Well... we really don't want to kill you... but we can't exactly go away. Compromise?"

You have no idea what he's thinking. But from the rather amused look on his face you have a gut feeling it wouldn't be good.

"Umm... sure?" Now he's grinning like a loon and James is sighing.

"Tell you what. I'm resistant to Magic, so how about this: I come charging down this here exit at you. If I manage to make it through without you killing me, we get to pass and you come quietly." Alright, what the hell is he thinking?

"And if I do kill you?"

"The others here all take the long way around through the other side of the Necropolis." You shoot a glare at James, a silent plea for him to knock some sense into Michael, but the commander of your support team simply mouths 'trust him' in reply. You consider tackling your wayward teammate regardless, but in the end he acts before you can make up your mind.

"Umm... alright? I'll count to three and you can rush!" Michael sticks his arm out around the corner to give her a thumbs up. "One..." He lifts himself off the wall next to the exit. "Two..." He rebalances himself so he can leap into action easier. "One! Go!" He leaps out of cover, rolling into a standard sprinter's position in a single motion... then bursts into a sprint down the tunnel.

Magical Girl Silver Hero, the Mana Cheat Hero, responds in kind.

"Triple, Genocide Rain! Double, Mana Blast!" The tidal surge of pure energy that surges down the choke point has more in common with a tsunami than a simple energy cannon.

He meets it head on. And plows through it as if it's nothing more than a bright light.

Five seconds into the assault, he sprints clean through and bursts out the far end, throwing himself into a flying tackle with his arms spread wide. "GIVE BIG BRO RODRIGUEZ A HUUUUG~!" The scene holds for a split second... then Silver Hero screams as the terror hits her and Mike lands on her with a massive hug for the ages.

"I can't believe he did that..." Red Rose's comment is delivered as she rubs the bridge of her nose. It would have had more impact had you and the rest of the human members of Team GEAR not burst into laughter when Silver managed to free her arms enough to start beating Michael in the head with her tome, shouting at him to let her go.

She continues that for about a minute before Gabriel's Light burns away the control seal and knocks her unconscious. Suppressing your reflexive fangasm at finding your Magical Girl idol, you shoot Red Rose a smug grin. "Told you so." She rolls her eyes. Though not before you can see the gratitude in them.

"So... we taking her with us, or is someone going to bring her back to the barricade? Leaving her here, while an option, risks letting the Skeletons and Spawn to chance across her." Samael crosses his arms as he squints in thought.

"True... but whoever we send back won't actually have a chance to catch up before getting swamped by the guards. I'm pretty certain we're going to be running into more and/or larger groups further in." James turns to Red Rose, "What do you think? You have more experience at stuff like this then we do."

She nods. "To be honest, I didn't expect much from you all, no offense. ("None taken.") So I'm loath to split our party with what we're likely to run into deeper inside. But I'm even more reluctant about bringing her along and risking her getting hurt in a fight because she can't defend herself, and whoever is carrying her gets weighed down and can't dodge... I say send someone to take her back. But I don't know your team that well."

James nods acceptance, then turns to you. "Well... you know everyone here the best. So what do you suggest?

You look between everyone present. Good question...
