Overwhelming Presence And You~
Overwhelming Presence And You~
A.K.A. That moment you find yourself sitting at the sidelines and staring at the combatants as shit is going down for no discernable reason at all.

The highest tiers of characters, as you've all probably noticed by the time you're reading this, have an ability known as "Overwhelming Presence". Now, alongside of having a pretty badass name, these abilities are tailored to each character that has one. Some are level-based, while others aren't. But almost all of them are in some way reminiscent of the character that owns it.

Now, narratively speaking, the Overwhelming Presence ability comes out in the fashion of the narrator's personal instincts screaming at the top their lungs that this person is an untouchable badass, that can kill you by sneezing the wrong way. Mechanics wise, the Overwhelming Presence operates in a fashion very similar to Anastasia's Echo of Peace power, but requires individuals to be aware of the owner's presence on the battlefield. If they're aware, it effects them. If the given Presence has a damage effect, it deals the damage at the start of each turn such as Gabriel's Presence of Light effect, same if it has a healing effect. If a Presence effect reduces APT by a set amount, and that amount reduces an opponent's APT to zero or lower, then that opponent will quite literally freeze up like a deer in the headlights for a good portion of the fight. When first coming across such a Presence, most Combatants will lock up regardless, much like poor Uni did during UNIFER DRIVE, or you subtly did when you first met Rei. Afterwards, while Overwhelming Presence will still effect the character, they won't just curl up into a ball and play possum.

In order to cancel out an Overwhelming Presence ability, the opponent must have an Overwhelming Presence of their own. Nothing else will do. Not even Ability-Negating powers. What one needs to know as well, is the fact that one Overwhelming Presence canceling out another, doesn't mean they protect their allies from the enemy's Presence. This more or less means that those who don't have Overwhelming Presence abilities are stuck sitting on the sidelines gawking as you and the other guy duke it out like Titans of Badassitude.

But this also brings me to other abilities that operate like Overwhelming Presence effects. These are special abilities that for all intents and purposes follow all these rules... except for negating opposing Overwhelming Presences. When someone with a legit Overwhelming Presence shows up, their Overwhelming Presence will shut the ability down, but render the opponent subject to their own Presence.

Now we just need to figure out how to trigger Nepgears Overwhelming Presence......

If the given Presence has a damage effect, it deals the damage at the start of each turn such as Gabriel's Presence of Light effect, same if it has a healing effect.
Say a character has 300 Current Health, 800 Max Health, a 500 damage/turn Overwhelming Presence is in effect, and a 400 healing/turn Presence of Light is also in effect.

At the start of the turn, will that character's Health go 300 -> 700 -> 200, or will it go 300 -> -200 = dead?

Additionally, would it be possible to obtain a Moe Presence ability, which does absolutely nothing for the holder of the ability, but basically uses a Mad Enhancement style effect on allied morale to let allies ignore Overwhelming Presence :V

What about an "If I pretend it doesn't exist, it will go away!" mindset?

The healing will trigger first.

This is a hilarious image. Where do you come up with this stuff?

But sadly, the answer is no. Gags are welcome though, especially if I can find a way to make them canon.

Sadly, no. If they're aware of the person, then the Presence effects them. Sticking your head into the dirt doesn't work, as much as a lot of the Goddess' enemies have desperately wished it would. Just made it easier for them to kill them all.

That's a legit strategy used by the characters whom Game Queen and her brother are expies of.
This scene, but especially at the 3:15 mark.

That and that Nepgear is too much of a moeblob to believably qualify for Overwhelming Presence. Looking intimidating isn't something she's really capable of.

Also, I kinda have a feeling that the Progenitor Frame will inherently have Overwhelming Presence.

[X] The Victorious Dead (Operation: Soul Collector)
[X] Plan Flying Battleship
-[X] Purchase Celestial Severance up to Level 15 (600xp)
-[X] Purchase Starshine up to Level 15 (600 + 600 = 1,200xp)
-[X] Purchase Flight up to Level 21 (1,200 + 1,350 = 2,550xp)
-[X] Purchase INDESTRUCTIBLE CORE up to Level 16 (2,550 + 750 = 3,300xp)

Then back to base.

I'm repressing this now.

I honestly have no idea what to say on this.
Then allow me to distract you for a moment!

Can Nepgear and/or Team Gear get their own Overwhelming Presence ability? To say it'd be useful against Goddess Red would be an understatement and if fame and power factor in getting it, then they should be close enough to it by now, what with glassing an army of Class 3 demons and the three weeks old angel pushing back the revived Old Guard Magical Girl, plus all the bullshit they went through.
