I feel like this choice of Cadlon meshes best with the lessons we have learned from our past two Cadlons.
Evalyn the Warrior who destroyed our enemies and Gwynlyn the Priestess who healed the growing wounds in our fledgling Empire. A Cadlon for war and a Cadlon for peace seems like a pretty good system.

This also has synergy with sending a war party towards the Caradysh, since our warriors are getting antsy and I'm honestly becoming concerned about what Urth is doing in the woods. Giving him time to scheme is never a good thing imo.

Who says a warrior is necessarily the best in times of war? Who says a priest is necessarily the best in times of peace? What if times of war require a priest who can heal the divide between us and our enemies to create peace? What if times of peace require a warrior who can prepare us for the war that's looming on the horizon?

No, the Cadlon should always be someone who's at least decent in all aspects of statecraft (war, diplomacy, administration, etc.), not someone's who's hyperspecialized in only one field.

Ideally you would want someone competent in all fields yes, but in this day and age this can really only be done through rule by elders (which was tried and failed) or creating a ruling caste of elites that get more stuff in return for learning how to rule their whole lives, which I would rather not do.

Someone who is specialized for the task at hand (which does not in fact mean they are hyperspecialized) is imo better than having a leader that is decent in all roles but not as well suited for what needs to be done.

@Oshha Does that last one mean only children of the current Cadlon, or it could also be cousins, newpews, etc? Cause if only the former, I will remove my vote for it.

He doesn't actually care about us, tho? He's just trying to become a god; which, ok, he may try to accomplish that by stealing our magic, and that is not ok. But I'm sure we can think of ways prevent him from doing that, that don't involve starting a war against him, I think once he sees he wouldn't be able to do it, he will put his attention elsewhere.

Still, whatever, is not like I think he would be all that hard to defeat, honestly, especially if what he said about being at war with the Furloc is true.

That was in the previous game. Oshha said pretty explicitly that things would be different going forward.

I said some things would be different and I wouldn't be saying which things would be different until you found out in-universe to keep things ambiguous. Just as you can't assume that Urth is trying to ascend to Godhood, you can't just assume he isn't trying to do that either.

Remember that Urth said this a few decades ago so while it might have been true back then, it may not be true now.

Think more like...perverse incentive. Warriors would press for more war to maintain their students as the heir, and priests would defer war to maintain theirs.
Try to at least make it so that the leadership's most ideal choices are very similar to the state's most ideal choices, but with relatively peaceful means of replacement

Divine intervention is basically the main safety net there.
